It appears the men knew each other and the incident stemmed from a personal matter. Important to note that, especially in these times when politicians are attacked.

Of course, it's still a heinous crime. It being personal doesn't detract from the seriousness, but does put it on a different category than a political attack.

Motive revealed in court for man accused of setting Danville councilman on fire

Shotsie Michael Buck-Hayes was arrested for attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly poured gasoline on Lee Vogler, then set him on fire.

The suspect, Sgt. Clay said, told police he had purchased gasoline at a gas station with the intent to kill Councilman Lee Vogler, then used a lighter to start the fire.
