RSBM: “$10,000 was discovered missing from Johnson's bank account after her disappearance. Her case remains unsolved.”

Wonder what investigative work concluded from the bank account monies missing? Was there an in person transaction? Other electronic transfer? Hope that was investigated. That is a large sum of money. And if moved should have prompted some analysis IMO? Not sure of banking laws then. MOO

Henrico Cold Case (Henrico County Virginia) - “The Disappearance of Janice Johnson”:

Brief newsreel with background on this unsolved case from circa 2001. That newsreel dates to 2016 and was aired on HCTV.

Of note from that link IIUC:

Janice Yvonne Johnson went missing circa November 1, 2001 and has not been heard from nor seen since.

Janice Yvonne Johnson knew an individual Dung Tran and was apparently involved in some possible or planned real estate dealings with him. Mr. Tran is indicated as a ‘business partner’ of Ms. Johnson in that newsreel.

There is a figure of $10,000 that was apparently for some real estate transaction / business the two were planning or involved in.

The $10,000 was moved from an account Ms. Johnson owned to a joint account of her and Mr. Tran.

Mr. Tran pulled or withdraw the monies from the account shortly after her disappearance. He is identified as a suspect in this case.

There is not enough physical evidence to place charges in the case at the time (then 2016).

A letter is shown apparently from Mr. Tran indicating to the recipient an admission of having certain information relating to Ms. Johnson, but will make that known only if certain requirements are met sending monies to certain individuals (seven (7)).

Mr. Tran was subsequently convicted of second degree murder in another case in Nassau County, NY. And is serving a 20 year to life sentence for that conviction. That victim apparently found out that she was being defrauded by Mr. Tran prior to her death. (It is not stated whether or not the victim confronted Mr. Tran of the apparent discovery.)

IIUC there appear to be some possible similarities in the two cases; the one in Nassau County, New York State and the unsolved case in Henrico County, Virginia.

The Henrico Cold Case Unit team requested any information and gave a phone number of 804-501-5304.

Not certain if that number is still current; but the 804-501-4000 seems to be the current Henrico Fire, Police, and Rescue number; 804-501-5000 is the police non-emergency number.

Investigators hope that new leads might help them to solve the case. MOO
