A media release from the Winchester Police Department states the incident began at 3:39 p.m. when dispatchers received a report of an attempted carjacking near Berryville Avenue.![]()
Md. teenager identified as Winchester carjacking suspect
WINCHESTER — Police are on the lookout for a Maryland teen believed to be connected to a carjacking that occurred late Wednesday afternoon in Winchester.www.winchesterstar.com
“The owner of the car reported that a male brandishing a knife approached the vehicle, started banging on the window and attempted to open the door,” the release states. “Once the officers arrived on scene, the suspect had fled eastbound on Berryville Avenue.”
A short time later, at 4:02 p.m., dispatchers received a call from another individual reporting a carjacking at the McDonald’s restaurant at 1124 Berryville Ave., the release states. The caller said a man with a knife ran up to the vehicle in front of her, made the driver get out and stole the car.
No one was hurt during the carjacking or attempted carjacking, Winchester Police Chief Amanda Behan said on Thursday.
