Jason Keith Mullins of Clintwood, VA was last reported seen the night November 13 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, in Wise County in western Virginia. He had visited a patient, taking off on foot and discarding the black hoodie he was wearing, according to police, who do not suspect foul play.

He was also wearing tan pants and brown shoes at the time of his disappearance. Mullins is 41 years old, approximately 6′ tall and 180 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. He also has a tattoo of a skull on his left arm.

On the City of Norton FB in the OP I noticed it says first "Mr. Mullins was visiting a patient and left all of his belongings. He took off on foot and was last seen wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt with white lettering...

and then adds "Edit: it has come to our attention Mr. Mullins discarded his hoodie on the night he was last seen around NCH."

So he "left all of his belongings" - wonder if that means his phone, etc.? What happened to during his visit? Was he angry, sad, etc.? I hope he's safe and OK and just needed to get away.

Police are still seeking information on a Clintwood man missing since Nov. 13.

Norton Police Sgt. Greg Mays said on Wednesday that investigators have recovered a hoodie and hat belonging to 41-year-old Jason Keith Mullins.

Mullins was last seen at Norton Community Hospital, where he was visiting a relative who was a patient there, Mays said. The clothing was returned to Mullins’ family, Mays said, and no foul play has been suspected.

Mullins told the relative he was going out and would be right back and left his belongings at the hospital, according to investigators.

Why is LE looking for him? Is he a POI for something? Is he known to be at risk? Otherwise, isn’t he well within his rights to disappear if he wants to? I’m confused.

His court records in his hometown show probation was revoked but that was a year ago (the most recent prior arrest before that was as a felon in possession of ammo, not firearm, to which he pled guilty). According to Jeremy Fleming with the Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office, Jason Keith Mullins’ body was found. Fleming said Mullins’ body was recovered near where he went missing.

UPDATE: Jason’s body has been found by members of the Black Diamond Search and Rescue team. He was located around 2:45 p.m. Saturday. He was found down the road from the hospital, toward Appalachia maybe 1/4 of mile, according to Officer Scott Stanley. He said Jason was over the hill in a ravine, roughly 150 yards away from the highway. An autopsy will be done tomorrow morning in Roanoke.
