EXMORE, Va. (WAVY) — The family of 18-year-old Jay’Von Malik Bailey say they need to help to find him after he disappeared last week.

Bailey was last seen in the Exmore/Painter area on the Eastern Shore on April 14, wearing a black hoodie, black or gray jeans, a white V-neck T-shirt, black Crocs and a gold chain. He’s 5 feet 4 inches tall and 145 pounds with black hair in a medium length twist.

His family says they’re not sure where he may be, but they’re offering a reward of $2,000 for information to successfully locate him.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office.

18-year-old Jay’von Malik Bailey was last seen on April 14, 2022, in Painter, Virginia. His mother, Naomi, told Dateline that Jay’von lived with her in Temperanceville, Virginia, but had been visiting his father since April 11. Naomi said she was texting her son on the night of April 13 and everything seemed fine. But later that day, Naomi’s calls to Jay’von started going straight to voicemail and he wasn’t answering text messages. According to Naomi, Jay’von’s father told her that on the night of April 13, Jay’von went to visit his cousin who also lives in Painter. Naomi said she drove to the cousin’s house to look for him and found her son’s jacket on the side of the road. Naomi immediately reported her son missing. The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office told Dateline in November 2022 that they have conducted multiple searches for Jay’von and have not ruled out foul play in his disappearance. Jay’von is 5’6”, weighs 145 lbs., and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans, and black Croc shoes. The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office says the Norfolk Medical Examiner’s Office identified the remains as those of Jay’von Malik Bailey, of Temperanceville. The skeletal remains were found back on Monday, January 9 by a hunter in a wooded area in the 37000 block of Bells Neck Road on the seaside east of Exmore.

Bailey’s disappearance back in April led to a $5,000 reward being offered for information on his whereabouts, and billboards on Route 13 to get the word out that he was missing. Bailey was also featured on NBC’s “Dateline.”

The sheriff’s office has not shared a cause of death or other details in the case at this time, but the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office at 757-787-1131 or 757-824-566.

Bailey’s mother, Naomi spoke with NBC’s “Dateline” following his disappearance and said that he was visiting his father in the Painter area since Apr. 11. His phone then began going to voicemail after the night of Apr. 13.
