'He's walked into a door, or a door's walked into him'

Malcolm Connolly, a security guard for Johnny Depp who also once looked after Amber Heard, tells the court he never saw any physical injuries on the actress.

Asked if he saw any on Depp, he says "yes". It "started off with a scratch once in a while but it got more", he says.

Elaborating, Mr Connolly says he noticed most of the marks were on the left hand side of Depp's face - scratches or a fat lip or bruising around the eye socket.

"It was getting more regular. Not every week but it was definitely happening."

Mr Connolly is now being shown a picture taken on Depp and Heard's honeymoon on the Orient Express from Bangkok to Singapore. He says he took the photo and that it shows a swelling underneath Depp's left eye.

"He's walked into a door, or a door's walked into him," Mr Connolly says when asked what his interpretation of the swelling was.

Heard alleges Depp was violent on this trip, which he has denied.

CourtTV has been showing this picture of the two of them on the Orient Express in formalwear with staff as an interstitial bumper, with clear and obvious marks of hitting around JD's eye.

His agent will still possibly testify (Jack Whigham (via video). That will probably happen on Monday.

We're back

Security guard Malcolm Connolly is still giving his testimony, live via video link.

He is being asked about a trip to Hicksville, California, which took place in the summer of 2013. This is another time that Heard alleges Depp was abusive.

Mr Connolly says it "was getting kinda animated... and no one wants to see [them] air their dirty laundry in public".

He says Depp was animated but it was "more so Amber".

ETA: I mean this one:

This wouldn't be necessarily worthy of any comment/highlighting, if not for the fact that part of Amber's purported diary said that this was when "[Johnny] hit me several times"; and frankly, he's the only one who looks like he's got black eyes; as well as the red mark thicker than Bert and Ernie's eyebrows over the bridge of his nose.

'Johnny lost a finger'

The court hears security guard Malcolm Connolly travelled to many places with the former couple, including Australia in 2015.

This is the infamous Australia trip that the court has already had so much about, during which Johnny Depp severed a finger. He was filming the fifth Pirates Of The Caribbean film at the time.

Amber Heard has previously described this trip as a "three-day hostage situation".

Asked if anything stands out to him about the trip, Mr Connolly replies: "Yeah. Johnny lost a finger."

As he begins to speak about the incident, Mr Connolly is reminded to focus on what he observed.

He goes on to say he arrived at Depp's accommodation and noticed there was a security SUV outside with no driver. As he approached the door he says he could hear "muffled" shouting and screaming.

When he opened it, it was "chaos", he says, with "screaming and shouting". He could only see Depp, he says, who was "nursing one hand".

Heard was "irate" he says, and Depp was shouting back. Mr Connolly says he encouraged Depp to leave as that was his job, to get him out of situations.

When they got outside, Heard appeared from somewhere and was "screaming", he tells the court.

"F*** off, you f****** coward," he says Heard was shouting at Depp.

After getting Depp in the car, the actor left and went back and screaming continued. Mr Connolly eventually got him into the car and back to his own apartment.

"His finger was just a mess" and like a "cartoon", he tells the court. "It's all flapping around... I could see bone."

To me Amber seems a quite unsettled right now. She keeps putting her pen to paper and appears to start writing but them just pulls it back off the paper. She's done this repeatedly.

'Crazy. Crazy. Crazy'

Johnny Depp's security guard Malcolm Connolly says he saw no injuries on Amber Heard at this time in Australia.

As well as Johnny Depp's severed finger, Mr Connolly says there was a mark on the actor's face.

He is asked to describe Heard's demeanour when he saw her on this particular day.

"Crazy. Crazy. Crazy. Fierce, you know. Fierce."

I wouldn't be surprised if both are feigning, instructed to look industrious and like they have something to offer whenever possible, by one or another of their respective attorneys. An SM account that I can't quote or pull forward because it's, well, not MSM, has captured that at one instance, JD was doodling a picture of the judge on one of those mysterious Post-Its; which the judge may get at the end of the trial, lol, IMO.

OMG I just heard AH attorney refer to JD's penis in court. This trial is the wildest ride I've been on.

'He gave me a lot more than that'

One of Amber Heard's lawyers is now cross-examining Johnny Depp's security guard Malcolm Connolly.

It is clarified that Mr Connolly worked with Depp for a while but has only worked for him and been paid directly by him for the past two years, but not a salary.

He is asked if he has received gifts from the actor and says "yes" and that he has also given him gifts, too.

Asked if he has been given $8,500 worth of gifts from Depp, Mr Connolly replies: "He gave me a lot more than that."

This raises a laugh in the courtroom, not least from Depp.

Mr Connolly is then asked if he is loyal to the actor.

"Yes of course I'm loyal to Mr Depp," the security guard replies. "I'd be loyal to you if I was working for you."

The smuggled dogs

Security guard Malcolm Connolly is now asked if Johnny Depp spent any time with rock star Marilyn Manson in Australia before Amber Heard arrived.

He says he doesn't recall Marilyn Manson being there. "I left Australia to smuggle two dogs..." Mr Connolly begins to say, but is cut off.

Here's the background on this...

Depp's Dogs Must Leave Australia Or Face Death

This happened a couple of days ago too. At first I thought she was posing but then it looked so "uneven" that I found it curious. I think it was during the psychologist's (psychiatrist's????) time as witness.

'I think I would remember if I'd seen Mr Depp's penis'

Security guard Malcolm Connolly is now being cross-examined about what he witnessed when he saw Johnny Depp at the house in Australia.

Amber Heard's lawyer puts it to him that the actor was trying to urinate and "had his penis out".

"I think I would remember if I'd seen Mr Depp's penis," Mr Connolly tells the court, which raises another laugh from the actor and others in the courtroom.

The court is now being played a recording of Depp from Australia. He can be heard shouting about "how you f***** me over" and "make me feel sick".

Mr Connolly says that yes, Depp was upset and angry.

At the hospital, where he had been taken for treatment for his severed finger, the security guard says the actor was coherent.

Heard's lawyer is now asking Mr Connolly about the marks and bruises he says he saw on Depp, asking if he has dates. He says it was a long time ago.

Asked about his testimony given to the UK trial against The Sun in the UK, Mr Connolly admits he did not testify that he had seen marks on Depp at that time. "I wasn't asked," he says.

Next witness...

We've now moved on to Starling Jenkins III, who is giving his testimony live via video link.

He's works as an executive chauffeur and in security, he tells the court.

He first met Johnny Depp in 1993 and has helped with "childcare, animal care, personal assistant duties, security and transportation" for between 40 and 60 hours a week.

Mr Jenkins says Depp was pleasant and upbeat and after meeting Heard she was friendly and cordial.

Depp's phone's journey to Skid Row

Starling Jenkins tells the court that he witnessed the couple arguing when they were in the car.

"They would be initiated by her, she would try to engage with him, he would tell me to turn the music up."

This happened twice, he says.

He is now asked about the night of 21 April 2016, the night of Amber Heard's 30th birthday which we have heard about previously during the hearing, including earlier today.

On 22 April 2016, Mr Jenkins says he arrived in the morning and was told by Heard that she "got in a fight with Johnny" and had thrown his personal property over the balcony.

He says this means his phone and his wallet, credit cards, "everything that's in his wallet".

Mr Jenkins says he used the Find My Phone app to try and track down Depp's phone. He says it was found in Skid Row, a neighbourhood in Downtown Los Angeles, which he says is about six miles from the house.

He says a homeless gentleman had the phone and returned it and so he gave him a reward of $420, chicken tacos and chips.

Mr Jenkins says he returned the phone to the penthouse and saw Heard as she was going to the Coachella Festival in the California desert.

"No marks. No injuries," he tells the court when asked if he saw any injuries on Heard.

The court hears he was tasked with taking Heard's luggage and dogs to the festival, while the actress drove herself.
