JD was counteracting being gaslit by recording conversations to be played back to her. Because she would say she couldn't remember, or tell him he heard it wrong, or you took what I had to say out of context or that's not what I said. For his own sanity he was tape recording to play back to her. And she was told ahead of time she was being tape-recorded.

AH on the other hand allegedly acts deceptive and devious. Hiding videos to tape him. Taking snap shots that looked staged. It all feels calculating and insincere.

The court is being shown a series of text messages between Depp and Heard in 2015.

In one of the messages, Heard writes: "Ran away first sign of trouble, this is not the man you promised you would be."

Johnny Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez says: "Ms Heard you are talking about Mr Depp running away from you at the first sign of trouble aren't you?"

Heard says: "No I'm recognising the clues at this point when he would run away at the first sign of trouble. Often that was a clue for me to know that he was back using again and we were about to enter the next phase of the cycle."

The lawyers goes on to ask Heard: "Who was the real monster in this relationship?"

Heard replies that it "lives in Johnny, half of Johnny... It's not all of Johnny, the other half of him is wonderful and beautiful and the man I love".

I wonder if there's a chance that AH would tell him after a drink/drug binge that he'd hit her and he perhaps believed it, because why would she lie? That could possibly be where 'the monster' starts to appear in their life. She'd tell him he'd hit her, he doesn't remember and starts to think there's something inside of him that he's just not aware of. It could also explain why he started to record stuff as her lies about being hit would start becoming more elaborate and he just couldn't believe he was capable of it.

I find it fascinating that she has testified so much about how she uses ice for all of her swelling and then a bruise makeup kit to cover the bruising .. but yet she sit on the couch for at least 2 hours following the May 2016 phone to the face incident and so far no one has mentioned that she put ice on her cheek and eye ..

CV is absolutely amazing! I've watched a lot of trials and have not witnessed another attorney with CV's skill.
