No Dr. Curry made a general comment about PTSD being disabling. MOO

I sure hope Amber's defense team has a lien ready to spring on AH for non-payment after this debacle is over.

They really need fair compensation for having to defend an undefendable compulsive liar.

Is the cross on this dr running down Amber's clock or Johnny's?
All I know is that AH has about 30 mins left by now imo.

At least we won't have to see AH on the stand for too long then. Watching her perform is very triggery for me.

Dr Hughes is so good she doesn't have to follow any rules (except her own). Reminds me of my ex.

I find Dr Hughes to be talking “at” the jury, not talking to them

  • #187
I think she knows how to score the tests....I find the two experts on DV here really sort of equal each other out. I think they both have points and are competent...one may come across better in a courtroom but if I were on jury they cancel each other for me

Since she keeps referring to her 88 pages why cant they make her go through her 88 pages?

  • #189
Exactly. I think for forensic exam it makes sense that experts would re-orient the subject to do their review.
I don't know how else you could do it. In fact that would be a question I have for Dr. Curry because Amber is a mother and lots of years have passed...so I am sure she had to do the same as Dr. Hughes.

I do agree that having PTSD does not mean you are disabled and unfunctioning in life. I also wondered about why Dr. Curry said that. MOO.
I think Dr Curry was talking about the severity of PTSD that this Dr diagnosed Amber with. Dr Curry was saying if it was as severe as diagnosed, she would not be able to function act the level she was functioning. JMO

Agreed, you are correct. Dr. Curry was very clear. She didn't say that having PTSD means you're disabled and can't function in life.
I could easily have misunderstood. It is a lot to take in with an in-depth psychology forensic explanation of tests etc. (keep up, lol). MOO.

EB is going to waste her time arguing objections? How much time does she have left????

Hughes doesn't want to admit she tailored her testing to help support AH's narrative. Sorry Dr. I think Dr. Curry had your number and now the jury does too.

I always remember it as, ‘Dr. Curry said Amber answered ‘yes’ to 19 out of 20 PTSD signifiers, after which she also told us her worst affected combat veterans don’t score higher than 15.”

The jury’s getting the gist IMO.

My question is, why not fill in the blanks on the form? Why write it on the side? Is she just a rebel or what?

Expert psychologist stands by testimony on Heard having PTSD

Clinical and forensic psychologist Dawn Hughes, who is returning to the stand for the second time, is offering a rebuttal testimony to that given by Dr Shannon Curry yesterday.

It's a bit confusing with these two psychologists, but Dr Hughes is an expert witness called by Amber Heard's team, Dr Curry an expert witness called by Johnny Depp's team.

They have offered very different diagnoses of Heard after analysing her ahead of the trial and both have been called back to give further evidence to essentially convince the jury that it is their account that should be believed.

Dr Hughes, who has diagnosed Heard as suffering from PTSD as a result of abuse, is now being cross-examined by one of Depp's legal team.

She is being asked about America's National Center for PTSD, which publishes checklists for testing, and is shown a document that states that one of the tests "should not be used as a stand-alone diagnostic tool". Dr Hughes says she carried out a clinical interview and 11 other psychological tests that supported her diagnosis.

Dr Hughes is questioned once again about boxes she left blank on a form, which came up during her original testimony. She says she didn't fill them in as the necessary details were covered in 88 pages of notes she made on Heard.

I'm pretty sure cross examination is counted against the side doing the cross. So in this instance it would be against Johnny's team.

I wish Hughes had made that point - this lawsuit was brought several years after the events so how can she use “the past year” in her evaluation.

Nope. You heard well!

Court break

Dr Dawn Hughes has now finished answering questions and Judge Penney Azcarate calls the first break of the day.

Court will resume at 11.05am in Virginia - that's 4.05pm here in the UK.

See you then.

Actually, if I was a juror Id just want to look at these test results and not go through 88 pages of research to find the answers.
