Perez says the officers told her "this is more than just a missing person. They said there's a big amount of blood in the backseat of the vehicle."

She says police had the car towed and told her they were going to search it for more evidence.

His family told WUSA9 Tuesday that they believe someone hurt Guerrero and that he would never leave his family, especially his daughter, like this.

“He’s a very sweet person,” Guerrero’s mother Andrea Salgado said in an interview with DC News Now as tears fell from her eyes. “I love him very much.”

The pain felt by Salgado and Shelia Perez — Guerrero’s girlfriend and mother of his baby daughter — is what is driving them to continuously search for their loved one. They haven’t stopped looking since Christmas, they said.

[...]

The two have taken part in an all-out search through wooded areas in Woodbridge. Salgado said they were the ones who found the car, and she even purchased a drone to help them search.

“I feel like we’re doing everything for them,” Salgado said. “We’re finding all the evidence, we found the vehicle. It’s horrifying.”

The family of a Virginia father who vanished days before Christmas found a trail of blood leading from his abandoned car to nearby woods, relatives said.

Jose Guerrero's girlfriend said a “big amount of blood” was also found in the backseat of his abandoned Hyundai two days after his Dec. 21 disappearance in Woodbridge, 23 miles south of Washington D.C.

[...]

Guerrero’s girlfriend, Sheila Perez, said he didn’t say what he was planning to do before he left home — but Perez said Guerrero told her he expected to return in five to 10 minutes.

Perez, who has a 10-month-old with Guerrero, said she reported him missing when he didn't return. The family later found his car less than 2 miles from his home, Perez said.

In the email, [Prince William County Police Officer] Perok said that when Guerrero, 20, was initially reported missing, there was no indication he was in danger. That changed Friday night after his car was found and "additional information was learned," Perok said.

"We have since worked this case nonstop through the weekend and currently," he said. "We’ve conducted numerous searches, and have followed up on multiple leads that have not yielded his location. What we need right now is information and cooperation which we have not fully been getting from those connected to Jose."

Hmm, the fact Jose didn't tell his wife what his plans were but said he would be back in 10 minutes makes me wonder whether he was meeting up with someone to buy something. I hope LE is looking at his online activity, especially whether he was using FB Marketplace or Craigslist to communicate with someone. With Christmas just a few days after his disappearance he could have been buying a gift for his wife, which he'd likely want to keep secret from her. MOO

She says they were tracking Guerrero’s iPhone the night he went missing and saw that he drove by Neabsco Regional Park.

As the family was searching there Monday, they found the trail of blood.

"I was just talking and looking down, and I saw the little drips of blood," Salgado said.

That's when the family says they decided to call police.

"They came that day, they took it into evidence, but we have no results yet," Perez said.

On Wednesday, well over a dozen droplets were still visible. The family doesn’t know for sure if it’s related to Guerrero’s disappearance but fears the worst.

With no answers about Jose Guerrero's whereabouts, his family and friends have turned to prayer hoping that the young father is found safe and sound.

Community members gathered at a Woodbridge shopping center parking lot on New Year's Eve to hold a candlelight vigil to bring the 20-year-old home. His loved ones wore yellow and white to symbolize the faith and hope they still have to find the man they called 'Chepe.'

[...]

Desperate for answers community members have been conducting their own searches for the past 10 days across Prince William County.

[...]

The groups have been focusing their searches in wooded areas and parks. The family says they found what they believed to be a trail of blood at Neabsco Park, and during their search Saturday, they think they found potentially more evidence.

"We went back to Neabsco Park and found the trail of blood and we found more blood. We are not sure if it is from my son but it was a good amount of blood," said Andrea Salgado, Guerrero's mother who has been leading the search efforts.

In searching google maps, the location they found the vehicle is fairly residential. It's near a large apartment complex and behind Richmond Highway which has a lot of stores, restaurants, etc. Has it been reported how / what led them to this area where his car was discovered? I'm wondering if this is the area Jose intended to go or his car was dumped here thinking it wouldn't be discovered as quickly.

Neabsco Park where the family found the blood is just under 4 miles from where the car was located. MSM reports indicate the family has focused on parks, woods, etc...wondering if they have any information that led them to this area or figured it might be an ideal area to leave a person/body if indeed something nefarious happened.

BBM The family tracked his phone until it shut off. The last location was Route 1 in Woodbridge. His mother was then driving along Bel Air Road when she spotted the car.

Thanks for the info and clarification.

I wonder if the family and/or LE has been able to access his phone records or social footprint to see if he was communicating with anyone in connection to the "quick" 10-minute errand / trip. I also wonder if LE has been able to confirm if the blood found in the car backseat is Jose's...not sure how long that process/testing takes. Or if they collected samples of the blood the family found in Neabsco Park.

This is so very sad. :(

Prayers going up for Jose's family and loved ones.

Two suspects have been arrested in the case of the Woodbridge man who has been missing since December, and investigators believe they've recovered the man's body, the Prince William County Police Department said Thursday night.

[...]

Police obtained a search warrant and executed it at a home located in the 14000 block of Matthews Drive in Woodbridge, where police said the suspects were located and detained.

Police said the investigation revealed the victim and suspects arranged to conduct a drug deal on Dec. 21, 2022. During the transaction, an altercation occurred, and police said the victim was stabbed multiple times and presumably died from his injuries.

The suspects, according to police, then drove the victim’s body to Prince George’s County, Maryland and dumped it.

[...]

The two suspects, identified as Olvin Daniel Argueta Ramirez, 19, of Woodbridge, and a 17-year-old boy who lives in Woodbridge, were arrested in connection to Guerrero’s death, police said.

Ramirez is being held without bond and is facing a murder charge as well as a charge of stabbing in commission of a felony.

The 17-year-old is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of robbery and murder.

A body found in Prince George's County, Maryland on Thursday, Jan. 19 has been identified as that of Guerrero, 20, of Woodbridge, according to 1st Sgt. Jonathan Perok, a Prince William County Police Department spokesman.

On Dec. 23, 2022, police found Guerrero’s car in the area of Bel Air Road and Jeffries Road. Investigators said there was evidence of a struggle and there was blood inside the car. At that point, the Prince William County Police Department considered Guerrero endangered and put out information in order to try to find him.

Police developed some leads, and they identified two people of interest in connection to Guerrero’s disappearance. Investigators got a search warrant for a home in the 14100 block of Matthews Dr. in Woodbridge. They found the people to which the investigation led them at the address and detained them.

Investigators determined that those two people and Guerrero set up a drug deal for Dec. 21. There was a fight, during which Olvin Daniel Argueta Ramirez, 19, of Woodbridge is accused of stabbing Guerrero. The other person who was there with them was a 17-year-old boy.

The Prince William County Police Department said after Guerrero died from his injuries, Argueta Ramirez and the boy took Guerrero’s body to Prince George’s County and left it there. They left Guerrero’s vehicle in the area of Woodbridge where police and family members found it.

Court documents revealed the two allegedly told police they "intended to rob" Guerrero during a drug transaction in a parking lot in Lost Canyon Court.

Instead, after some sort of argument, they stabbed him over and over until he was unconscious, then took him somewhere else to make sure he was dead, according to court documents. Then, they drove Guerrero's car to Adelphi, Maryland where police say they dumped his body in a wooded area, before bringing the car back to Bel Air Road in Woodbridge.

Court dates for both suspects are pending. Ramirez was charged with murder and stabbing in commission of a felony and is being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas regional jail. The 17-year-old male was charged with murder and robbery and is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
