I am local to this. No new information on the news that i have seen.

No family members seem to have spoken out publicly

The abduction, I assume was seen on camera for LE to state that he was abducted.

No information on the abductor or if a vehicle was involved.

He is 105 lbs. Tall for his age if the information is correct that he is 5’8.

I hope he is found soon.

As Virginia Beach police have deployed a massive search effort involving bloodhounds, security footage, drones, helicopters, and mounted patrols, the family of Juan Sebastian Mejia Acevedo has received a request for ransom, police said Sunday.

The ransom request was sent to the parents of Acevedo via WhatsApp while they were on Facebook Live, which led Virginia Beach investigators to call the matter a suspected abduction.

To assist, Virginia Beach Police brought in federal partners Saturday to supplement their resources, canvassed the neighborhood and surrounding areas, collected video footage, utilized drones, employed bloodhounds from the Hampton Police Department and Virginia State Police, and spoke multiple times to Acevedo’s friends and family.

On Sunday, VBPD added Mounted patrol and additional uniformed officers to augment detectives to help on the ground in their neighborhood canvassing, as well as partnering with their local Hispanic Citizens Police Academy Alumni to help talk to neighborhoods and allay fears about working with law enforcement.

“While we do not believe this is a recovery mission, out of an abundance of caution, we have deployed our marine patrol unit to search nearby lakes and ponds, leaving no stone unturned,” the statement from police said.

Responding to online speculation, police also said they have talked to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and confirmed Juan is not in their custody.

I’m local to this too. On one of the videos I saw last night from one of our local stations the reporter said he is 5’3.
