First I am so sorry for you, your daughter & Justin's family, my prayers are with you all that this will be solved and justice will be served.

As I was reading your post something popped into my head.....does it seem odd to you that another guy would say to his friends/co-worker you yell at your wife again and I kill you???.....I mean that is pretty bold even if he felt that way most people would tend to not get involved or maybe say "hey calm done relax etc"....so my question is this...is there a possibilty that MAYBE there MIGHT be something going on between Justin's GF & the shooter/Justin's freind co-worker that made him be over protective of her??? Just a thought.....

When I read this thread these were my exact thoughts. I can't help but think it. The shooter seemed way over-protective of the gf. My first thought was they were having an "affair"

I'll bet that girlfriend called that night and said that her and Justin were having a fight and he was YELLING at her again...can you come and get me.
Seems to me it gave the killer a good excuse to carry out his threat. I wonder if the killer is now the girlfriend's hero!

I can't believe that LE haven't talked to the neighbors. Do they even plan to?
They have to talk to them...they always do. LE usually talks to everyone in the neighborhood in hopes that someone saw or heard something. They can't just talk to the people that were in that car and the girlfriend and call it good
unless they are so lazy it is pathetic.

When Justin's dad gets the chance to talk to LE I hope he has a list of questions on hand. I hope he asks who all LE has talked to....and what they are doing in investigating the murder. Is this a small town police department?
I live in a small town and the police are worthless. They don't know their butts from a hole in the ground. They couldn't process a murder scene if they tried and I really doubt they have had any training in anything like that. They stay on the force until they retire doing just enough to get by. New cops come long enough to have something to put on their resume. I know all of this first hand.

Apparently, "always do" and "should do" doesn't apply to law enforcement in Portsmouth Virginia, Bobbisangel.

Justin's dad and mom and their lawyers have a book full of questions.

I would hope that le has questioned the neighbors and perhaps they are still gathering all their info to go forward. It just seems like if there isn't more to the story, then this shooting was not justified and hard to see self defense if Justin didn't have a gun as well. I know that he had a rifle in the house but I don't remember him having it on his person at the time of the shooting. Oh and why would we be shooting people for yelling at someone.

julie79,

I am terribly sorry and saddened for you and your daughter's loss.

I am also dismayed with how LE is handling this, and have handled it since the beginning (i.e. not notifying Justin's parents). I am in complete agreement with our other members who feel that the shooter was a little too "invested" in this gf.

It is highly unusual for a male to threaten, or intervene in, another male friends' relationship with a female...unless they have a dog in the race. The only time I could understand them doing so is if it was a physical altercation; but a verbal argument, no. Like the previous poster mentioned, maybe just saying "relax, calm down, etc."

I hope the truth will come out and justice will prevail; you need it and your daughter deserves it. So does Justin.

Kindest regards.

Law enforcement did not question neighbors. As of today they still have not questioned neighbors. In fact, it has been quoted that they did not plan to question neighbors as they 'saw no need to do so'...

Justin had a rifle but it was inside his home. It was his hunting rifle. Justin did not have a weapon on his person when he was shot and killed.

I am wondering if this Commonwealth Attorney was up for re-electon? Anyone in the Portsmouth area who can answer this question for me, I sincerely thank you kindly.

I find the governmental connections with an EMT and a firefighter said to have been involved in the group present at Justin's shooting an obvious conflict of interest in relation with the involvement of the police department and the Commonwealth Attorney's office. Does this seem like a probable cover-up to anyone else out here besides myself?????

Justin had a dog breeders website. Within a couple of days of his shooting the guestbook was deleted and renederd totally inactive.

Justin's cell phone was taken by his girlfriend and was not returned to the family even after their request for it.

The girlfriend moved out of Justin's house very soon after his shooting.

Something really STINKS in Virginia.... I just pray that TRUTH and JUSTICE will soon prevail.

Something is really wrong with this case. I can't believe that LE have no intention of talking to the neighbors. I believe if I were Justin's family I just might go do my own questioning of the neighbors. Have them write out a statement if they saw or heard anything. I would darn well get that cell phone back from the girlfriend too. She has no right to keep it. I wonder if the girlfriend moved in with the killer and his wife/girlfriend? That wouldn't surprise me at all.

If Justin's family feel that they aren't getting anywhere with the LE in that town there are people higher up the ladder that they can go to...in person.
The Chief of Police....if that doesn't work there is the Attorney General who is over all LE.

If anyone has an email address for the LE that are supposed to be handling this case could you please post it here? Sending them emails to let them know that there are people out here that are interested in this case and what is happening in it might help. You never know but it's worth an effort.
That nothing is being done is insane.

first, my condolences to you & all who knew & loved justin.

everything i have read points to the need for an inquest. i cannot remember right now, was his body autopsied? someone with knowledge of the commonwealth of virginia, please advise .... here in georgia, the county coroner is actually the most powerful position with the ability to over-rule all other LE.

my point is this: perhaps we should bombard the coroner's office with requests for a full investigation into justin's death along with well-written letters to the editor of all local print media & to those in charge of electronic media news that puts the coroner or medical examiner's office on the spot.

i would like to know the street number of the hanover street address. someone please PM me with that.....thanks.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I too think it's weird that he was so overprotective of her. I'm not so sure there was any kind of affair going on, and forgive me for being blunt but, the shooter was not so attractive. He and his wife are both very large and very unkept looking. The gf is small, pretty and very concerned with looks so maybe he was infatuated with her but I really don't think she would have been interested in him. Just my opinion. There was talk however, that she had already started seeing someone else, a friend of her brother's, and was planning on leaving Justin very soon.

BA, The reason I was so quiet since my computer is back up and running is that "people" hired by the parents have indeed carried out needed tasks in seeking Justice for Justin.

It is very unfortunate that parents of a slain young son were forced to hire their own professionals to do what the police department and the Common Wealth Attorney should have already done at no cost to the victim's family, but hey, there are apparently many "undercurrents" within this broken down 'system' in Portsmouth Virginia which must be dealt with in a step by step, legal manner if justice in Justin's case indeed is to be served.

Until the Commonwealth Attorney/LE deems the case closed, no records have to be released at the request of the family.

However, personally, I think that your suggestion of a joint effort involving everyone concerned in seeking Justice for Justin in order to 'get the ball moving' is a simply WONDERFUL suggestion and should and would be thankfully received by all those close to Justin.

Please accept my condolences-there is nothing, nothing that can be said which will actually make this situation bearable-I am so sorry.

If, and I mean if, there was a conspiracy involving the girlfriend, then you stated probably the single reason that the shooter might have been an easy mark for the girlfriend. Think about it-think about Pamela Smart choosing to be intimate with a drugged barely literate teenager in order to find a shooter who would not only buy that her husband was beating her, but would believe he would be her hero after he killed the poor man.

Just my 2 cents...

I'm so glad that Justin's parents have hired people that can get to the truth and find out just what the heck happened. It is a shame that they have to pay as you said but it doesn't sound like LE plans to do a thing about this murder.

Thank you for the email addresses. I will get on that this weekend. As I don't live anywhere close by I would also need the name of the paper to send a "Letter to the Editor" to. Any other places that you want us to communicate with...could you please provide email addresses or mail addresses...? Thanks.

Fellow Websleuthers,

I have been asked to post a announcement about the scheduled Candlelight Vigil planned for Justin. Please help us pass the word to everyone concerned who are close enough to Portsmouth who wish to attend. Thank you for your support.

Most Sincerely,

Anyone know whose prints are on the weapon? Like did Justin grab it and pull it in the direction of his shoulder as a defensive move? Or backhand it? You know what I mean??
