Woman pleads guilty in beating death of 4-year-old Norfolk boy

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Catherine Seals pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to both charges she faced, felony homicide and felony child abuse with serious injury, in the death of Larkin Carr, 4, last November.

The plea agreement caps her potential sentence at 21 years, 6 months. Her sentencing is scheduled for January 31.
[.....]
Police say Hartshorn told them he abused Larkin by punching him and hitting him with a chair. He is now 15, but has been charged with murder as an adult in Circuit Court. Judge Junius Fulton ordered sanity and competency evaluations for Hartshorn and will review them in January.

Man wanted for felony homicide connected to 4-year-old’s death, Norfolk police say

December 18, 2019

NORFOLK, Va. - A dad is now wanted for felony homicide after his 4-year-old son was beaten to death in a Norfolk home in November 2018.

Police released a tweet on Wednesday stating that 40-year-old Hank Smith Jr. has been charged with one count of felony homicide. Smith was charged back in May 2019 with one count of felony child abuse. Both charges are related to the death of 4-year-old Larkin Carr.

Smith has been out on bond for the felony child abuse charge with a preliminary hearing date set for January 2020. Police now have a warrant out for his arrest on the homicide charge and are currently searching for him.

I had to put this article into Outline - can someone check the "original" article & see if there is an actual date in January for Smith?
TIA!

@SeesSeas - maybe you can help me? TIA! :)

Thanks @SeesSeas - I haven't been finding him in the court site either. I know he was out on bond - but I don't believe that would matter. Maybe "Hank" is a nick name - like from his "middle" name and he has a completely different first name. But haven't seen anything like that mentioned. Guess we wait for more articles....

Father accused in 4-year-old Larkin Carter Carr’s death gives his side of story

December 31, 2019

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The man who police say had a hand in his 4-year-old son’s death is back in Norfolk.

Hank Smith, 40, was arrested in Harrisonburg two weeks ago. He’s charged with homicide in the beating death of Larkin Carter Carr.
[.....]
Smith was offered a plea deal on charges of child abuse and neglect before he was charged with homicide. He turned it down, because he says he didn’t want to be in jail away from his kids.

Smith will be in court Thursday [(1/2/20)].

Seals is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 31. Her plea agreement caps her potential sentence at 21 years and 6 months.

Robert, the 14-year-old, is undergoing sanity and competency evaluations, which will be reviewed by a judge in January. Pending those results, Robert will be tried as an adult on a second-degree murder charge in Norfolk Circuit Court.

Still need a date for Robert in January....
