GUILTY VA - Lenny Harris, 53, robbed & murdered, Alexandria, 21 Sept 2011

10pm news on Fox 5 is saying that they will go in at sunrise Saturday, earlier than they originally thought they could retrieve the body.

I convinced DH to drive past the location of the well tonight. As we drove down Old Fort Rd, I had a thought that I hadn't thought of before: I really hope Lenny (or whoever it turns out to be) was not alive when dropped in that well. I can't shake that thought. I also in general just thought it of that perps driving that same road that night, with Lenny. Made me very sad. :(

We got to 11700 Old Fort Rd (the well is in the 11900 block) and LE had a cruiser there, blocking the road. Everyone was forced to turn onto Flagstaff Rd and take a long detour that put us back on Indian Head Hwy. While out that way, I asked DH to drive by a Chevy Chase/Capital One Bank at the intersection of Indian Head and Swan Creek Rd, which is also where Livingston Rd meets up with Indian Head on the other side - and not too far up Livingston is where Old Fort Rd crosses Livingston.

When we saw the bank, we were convinced it was the right one, and I got out and took pictures. However, when we got home and I double-checked on a larger screen, I noticed subtle differences (different color brick; AC vent has different grille; door next to ATM on wall is missing; etc) that weren't apparent on my iPad in the car.

So we can cross that bank off. (DH was disappointed and said tomorrow he wants to help me find the bank... I never thought I'd get him that interested in a case. This is fairly close to where we live - our home is somewhere on the map below also.)

Good Morning;

I hope that it is Lenny and the family can rest. But I wonder if it could be related to this missing person; http://www.readthehook.com/91399/target-located-missing-fluvanna-mans-car-found-store-lot

To run from Indian Head Highway to Laplata (Waldorf) isn't a far stretch.

and also noted this "tip" came in after the arrest of Marsellis Laron Ledwell, 23, of Waldorf. http://www.ccso.us/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=56

The reason I bring his name into it, is because on one of the news sites for the body found in well it had a comment that MLL had nothing to do with it, that people know who did it. I'll look to see if I can find the link.

Good find and that's for posting it.

Interesting... I wonder if MLL is connected to Lenny's case also? Below is a mug shot of MLL next to the person trying to use Lenny's card at the ATM. The photos could very well be of the same person which could also be when LE got this 'tip'... as part of a plea/bargain:

I know there may be no connection between these cases, but that possibility is still in my mind. Here's another map - it's less than 12 miles from the Waldorf area to the location of the well:

I agree I see a strong resemblence. The mustache and beard are similiar. The jawline and cheek bones look simliar, so does the ear lobe on both.

Great find. While we don't know what state the remains are because LE hasn't said. (they probably know due to checking the well with a camera). I tend to think the remains of someone who went missing in early 2011 would be in a much different state of decomposition than someone missing just a few months - in a colder climate. I could be wrong, these remains could have been there for a year or years. We just don't know yet, other than there was something to lead LE to believe they could be tied to Lenny.

Wow. Awesome job on the posts and updates, all.

Keeping Lenny, his family, and the unidentified person in my thoughts.

If these remains turn out to be Lenny it will be a bittersweet closure. It will mean answers and some closure for his family. Yet at the same time it will confirm something bad happened to a man who was kind and generous, cared deeply about his community, and has a smile that makes one (me) just want to sit and listen to what he has to say, what he thinks about things.

Continued prayers for Lenny's family, friends and community as they await answers if this is their loved one.

I just noticed that the guy in the ATM photo doesn't have long hair. It may be pulled back and we can't see it, but it's clearly visible in MLL's mug shot.

Not much more yet, but here's a basic recap - bbm:

Police investigators from Alexandria were at the scene on Thursday. That suggests they may be looking into whether the body is that of a Virginia man who mysteriously went missing in the fall.

Alexandria Community activist Lenny Harris was last seen leaving the Houston Recreation Center on September 21st. Weirdly, his phone – and only his phone – was found (via GPS tracking) on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Then his abandoned car was found at an apartment complex in the Indian Head section of Prince George’s County – not far from the well where the body is located.

The lips don't look the same, but than again I'm horrible at these pics. The guy they just picked up for the Temple Hills and Rocville crimes didn't look anything like the mugs and photo's to me....

MLL has a lengthy record (going by news articles), maybe someone can find something on him about his lock up stats, like "tatoos"?

Dee - I was thinking the same thing: tattoos.

Sad what this place (MD) has turned into, can't wait for the first chance to get out of here!

The thing that looks different to me, between the pics, is ATM guy's mouth is a bit wider horizontally than the mug shot guy's. Otherwise the beard/mustache look similar... But then, lots of young guys have that same facial hair. :/

I agree it will be tattoos that match them, if it's the same guy.

Hey Belimom, you want my rottweiler when I leave if I can't take her, lol

But I was also looking at the way the ATM shot his head is down, which is bringing the neck muscles up, the mug shot looks likes he's put his lips together and is high as a kite, but yet he turned himself in, maybe he got high one last time?

LOL! Wish I could - but our apt is too small, plus she'd probably eat our little dog and our two bunnies...

Living in PG you need more than a gun, you need an alarm to alert you to get your gun! I wouldn't be here with out her :)

The little dog she'd play with, the rabbits not so sure about, she just chases those so far, but I dunno, she whined at baby mice so you never know with her, I make all my dogs sissies, lol But looking at her you don't know that :floorlaugh:

The presser is @ 3, wonder if online or ????
