On Friday night, Chief Lugo confirmed to WUSA9 that there was another search conducted this week, in Loudoun County. He told WUSA9 that on Wednesday investigators searched near Tall Cedars Pkwy. and Northstar Blvd. in Aldie, Virginia.
  • Per Chief Lugo, they didn't find anything.
  • The last time Mamta's cell phone made a connection was to a cell tower in Loudoun Co, near Aldie.
  • NB told LE he was at a cafe in that area around the time the phone pinged.

I’m convinced she’s in a landfill, and I think this upcoming search will involve a landfill.

As we’ve seen in other cases, it requires preparation and funding to undertake a search like that. That’s why he’s able to give advanced notice of a search (the Kelsey Berreth case they explicitly told us it was a landfill over a month before).

They’ll follow up on the water tips, but I don’t expect that to be relevant here (except for maybe dumping a knife or something).
If she’s in the landfill, there’s not much hope she’ll be found unfortunately. It’s been way too long. I think his plan to dismember her wasn’t as easy as he thought it would be and he did what he could, bagged what he could and tossed in a dumpster. IMO the majority of her body is still intact and possibly in a bin, in a landfill or tossed in the water somewhere.

OUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (7News) — In the latest search for evidence in the missing Manassas Park mom case, officers canvassed an area in Loudoun County, the department told 7News.

On Oct. 9, crews searched an area near North Star Boulevard and Tall Cedar Parkway, just off Route 50. Police told 7News that no evidence was found during this search.

I knew it was bad news for the body ever since the bathtub was mentioned.
I don't know why landfill searches aren't prioritized, we've been talking about it since the beginning of the thread.

There have been landfill searches, unfortunately unsuccessful.

I really hope this evil man does not skate on the charges and somehow get custody of his child back to boot. Wishing the investigators much luck. He is on video dumping things in dumpsters, hope they have enough for prosecution to stick.

With purple ribbons on their clothes, bracelets on their wrists, and Mamta in their hearts, a small but mighty crowd was determined to empower anyone struggling with domestic violence, as friends and family say Mamta was, to come forward and find refuge.

"We want to change the narrative, to make it okay to talk about domestic violence, and we want to try to stop so there’s no more Mamtas," Wirth said.

Just stopping by to reiterate what an awesome coworker Holly Wirth is.

I know you’re not supposed to think of your workplace as a family but we really do spend a lot of time with the children people we work with. I tend to be introverted at work but this case has really made me think about trying to be somewhat aware of what’s going on with the people there beyond whether they get the TPS reports in on time.

We are back at the PWC courthouse this morning because Naresh Bhatt, the Manassas Park man accused of killing his wife Mamta Kafle Bhatt, has a hearing at 10am.

His public defender is trying to get the arrest warrant thrown out.

7News spoke with John Fishwick, a former U.S. Attorney who’s now a criminal defense attorney, for some insight.

“The judge is not going to throw the case out because of this minor misstatement in the arrest warrant,” said Fishwick. “There's a lot of other evidence that was in that arrest warrant, not just this detail. So it's a heavy lift for the defense in any sort of case.”

The commonwealth has subpoenaed records to the couples employers and Fishwick said that’s likely to nail down a detailed timeline which is significant evidence.

Thursday's hearing was supposed to be a Franks v. Delaware hearing, where the defense would have sought to quash Naresh's arrest warrant, claiming police used a "false statement" to obtain it so there was no probable cause to arrest him.
But at the start of the hearing, Shalev Ben-Avraham, his public defender, moved to withdraw the motion, mentioning conversations with the prosecution Wednesday and saying he may potentially refile at another date. He stated possible concessions were made that could be more beneficial to his client.
The prosecution did not object so the judge agreed to withdraw the motion for Thursday's hearing. Naresh's next court date is a pre-trial hearing scheduled for Nov. 20.

“[The defense] probably got some information that was better than they were going to get, because they were going to likely lose this motion," opined John Fishwick, the former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia.

"I doubt the Commonwealth's Attorney is conceding anything," he added. "They may have provided information about how the search warrant went down and what their information is about the movement of the body. That’s information that should be disclosed to the defense.”

Interview with Mamta's mother and brother.

*****
"My daughter was very hard working. A very sincere person, very honest person. I haven't seen anybody like her. She was very honest. My daughter was a very strong, hard-working, intelligent person," said Gita Kafle. "Even when she was very small, she was very sincere and honest".

*****
She told WUSA9 that she last spoke with her daughter on July 29, but said Mamta never mentioned anything negative.

"She would only talk to me about good things. Because I was far, she would not tell me about anything bad," said Gita Kafle.

*****
"We don't want to imagine the things that happen," said Mahesh Kafle.

He told WUSA9 that right now they are focused on taking care of the baby.

“We may start to get an indication of: will the defense put on any evidence, will Mr. Bhatt testify," he [John Fishwick, a former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia] added. "They don't have to tell you that at the pretrial conference, but I think that we'll be to read some of the tea leaves about how the trial is going to go, how long it's going to last, how many witnesses there'll be, and are there any other motions.”

Grizzly True Crime has a 3 part series about Mamta. I'm trying to get caught up. Another heartbreaking case of a man destroying a woman and her family. To say I'm tired of this is an understatement.

Sorry if this was already clarified but I'm still confused about their marriage - was it arranged or not?

She's done a great job with her series on Mamta.

I was under the impression that it may have been ?
Will have to backtrack and check around.

Mamta Kafle Bhatt has not been seen for over a month. The 28-year-old originally from Nepal moved to the U.S. for an arranged marriage in 2021.

How sad for Mamta to be so far away from her family. :(
Omo.
