''In the morning of Feb. 25, 1990, relatives and neighbors checked on the elderly Marion Reid, 81, who lived alone in Chuckatuck. Reid was found dead on the floor of her home. She was bound with multiple injuries and had been sexually assaulted. She last contacted her family by phone the day before.''

''It happened in what was described as a dilapidated house.
“She was home alone,” said Reid’s cousin, Destry Newsome. “Someone broke in on her and murdered and raped her.”

'Newsoem adds: “She’d like to play cards. That was basically what she did, played cards and just like to see baseball, all kinds of sports, especially baseball. It was her thing. She loved it. She just loved to see the kids play baseball. She just loved when we tried out for a baseball team.”

On the anniversary of all unsolved cold cases, Suffolk Police release reminders of them in the hopes someone who knows something will be somebody who offers the information to solve them. They are hoping someone in the community can warm up a cold case murder from decades past. Marion Reid, 81, was dead on the floor of her small semi-secluded home in Chuckatuck on the morning of Feb. 25, 1990.

I hope they had good evidence collection. Modern advancements and genetic genealogy could finally solve this if they collected evidence properly and it was all kept.
