In my sister's case, the guy was someone she knew in her circle of friends. Before she went into a coma, she was a social butterfly and very popular. When she came out of the coma, her circle of friends narrowed considerably and no one wanted to hang out with her, because mentally she was still Vicky, but physically, she was a little impaired. I guess it wasn't cool to hang out with someone w/ a physical impairment. :furious: The guy who killed her (his name escapes me at the moment) was around her age. He must have been an admirer of her's prior to her coma and she really did not want much to do with him.
Anyway, she and a few others were hanging out at City Park. He asked her if she wanted to go for a ride and get high. She accepted the offer because she was trying to fit in. I think he had every intention of getting her stoned hoping she would have sex with him. She must have declined his advances, so he decided he was going to have sex with or without her permission. After he raped her, he freaked out and strangled her, leaving her body in a field in Suffolk...she lost her life over his self need for an orgasm!

I was only 3 or 4 when this happened, so I never fully got to know my sister. Thanks to the guy who killed her. From what I understand, the guy apologized to the family and as all convicts do, he found God behind bars, but sorry doesn't always make things right...especially when, as in Meghan's case, a wonderful girl who started to make a positive impact in this world is robbed from us.

Gayle, thank you. I hope I don't seem like I'm prying. I have some blurs in my memory from five years of chemo.

Kids/teenagers can be cruel and unsympathetic. It's a difficult age to have any kind of disability. Judgement by one's peers when you're a teenager is so much about appearance. I know "what ifs" don't get you anywhere but if only one of the people there with her at City Park had stepped in and said she couldn't/wouldn't go.

I go back at least once a day to see if anyone has posted anything that might shed some light into how the investigation is going and I noticed on one of the sites a friend posted something about 'and now you don't have to be scared anymore' so it seems whether it was the person she was going to have to testify against or someone else, she felt threatened.

Five years of chemo...bless your heart! The good thing is that you are a survivor and a very whole hearted one at best!
No I don't think you are prying. I don't mind sharing. I would even reveal his name if I remembered it. I will find out because trust me, I am so not trying to protect HIS name.

Where else do you go to see if anyone has posted any updates? I found this site by accident, is there another place to look?

The most recent posts are the ones at the link that BigMike posted in a previous post (about three or four up). I google Meghan's name and there are several sites that come up. There's even a video of her riding in a car with a friend. No one seems to have posted on any of the others lately. Mostly they are on the respectance site and the ones that link to the newpaper articles. Like I mentioned before I can't stop thinking about her and wishing they would find out who did this. It's not even a matter of fear anymore. It's anger. Angry that someone thought they had the right to harm her. That their life was more important than hers.

This is so sad. A sweet 16 year old murdered, who was to supposedly testify the next day (?) and yet, I come here and don't see any activity by the LE. (meaning, no posters are saying they are doing anything)

I am sure that with the twisters that went through (and I have got to say, GOD must have been right there for no deaths to have happened) that maybe some crimes are not in the forefront. I hope that once things calm down, that attention will be brought back to Meghans murder and in finding her killer.

I can't even imagine her family's grief.........my prayers are with them.

We all know that the killer or killers will be brought to justice. Like the word says, "What goes on in the dark ALWAYS comes to light. God said it, I believe it, and that settles it! Who ever is to blame is not at all comfortable. If LE doesn't know who it is now, which they probably do, it's just a matter of time before the killer will be brought to justice. That's not speculation, that's a fact.

WVEC, a local news station, reported that the Portsmouth pizza driver's killer has been arrested.

Two teens have been arrested and charged in the shooting death of a pizza delivery man in Portsmouth last week.

Jamal Lee Mingga, an 18-year-old Portsmouth resident, is charged with first-degree murder, robbery and two counts of the use of a firearm in commission of a felony. A 17-year-old was also arrested and charged with the same counts. His name is being withheld because of his age.

I think when a 17-yr. old commits a crime like that they should go ahead and put their name in the paper.

I'm glad they got them and I hope they go to trial and are sentenced SOON. They should make them work in prison and send the money to the poor guy's mom. It won't replace her son but I'm sure her financial situation is only going to get worse. Her son worked two or three jobs, pizza delivery, newspaper delivery and I think one other.

This guy never married and lived at home with his mother. I heard from someone that he seemd to have a slight disability (I don't know if that's true). My point being what kind of low-life threatens, robs and then murders a disabled pizza delivery driver for a few dollars. Wait, I know. The two that they arrested.

I can't believe it's been this long!! Her poor family- Has there been a burial/services for her yet? God rest her soul- That pretty baby is another angel in heaven now-

I can't now, and hope I never have to imagine her mother's pain. It must be horrible, on top of not knowing why this monster is not locked up- For some strange reason, I think mom probably knows exactly who it is!

I read the paper today but I don't remember reading anything about it. Do you have a link? If not, I can go find one.

I don't think Oceana is near this place. Shore Drive might be closer to Little Creek Amphibious Base.

There was a memorial service at her church,her body was cremated.
