I remember this case so well. I was pregnant with a little girl at the time and living in Roanoke. Had to drive past the Shorts' house every weekend to visit my parents. Still no justice for little Jennifer. :cry:

Ray Reynolds lived across the street from the Shorts when they were killed and now he devotes a lot of his time organizing the ride.

"It's an unsolved case," he explains. "We cannot let it go. We can't just let it go and forget it because his family was taken from us. They are gone. This little girl is gone. Her mom and dad are gone."

So far, none of the new leads have led to a break in the case, but Sheriff Perry truly believes it wil be solved. He keeps a picture of Jennifer on his desk; a reminder to keep the case alive, for the family that's not.

As I watched this case on YouTube , It sad to see the loving and great family murdered by someone who didn't show mercy or regrets of his actions . But I just got a feeling that the Killer/s the motives and the answers why killed Jennifer and not spared her but whenever the truth of this murders comes out It might be shocking or not but believe me that usually some of the cold cases usually best to be left unsolved but for The Short Murders case this one is quite special and the answers for this case will come . I'm from the UK and this case made me want the Short Family to deserve this justice .

Joseph Duncan-he is known to have been a avid scuba diver-and evidently during the time frame of the Short murders there was some sort of scuba-related show in VA at one of the bigger venues in the area. And the fact that the person who had evidently bailed Duncan out before lives in FL and is (possibly) a pediatrician-what a scary thought!

I live in Guilford co-and I too, have done a lot of research into the case-and I sure wish I could find out the caliber of gun used to shoot the Short parents and compare to the gun found with Duncan.

We'll just keep on posting our info as we get it-but you are NOT alone in wanting a good, solid break in this case!

It seems from things we have read it was a .22 caliber gun that was used in the Short murders. Those were the size casings found by the parents. 2 found in total.

Since I live in VA, albeit about 4-5 hours away, I remember reading about this case. I haven't seen much in recent years until the Jayme Closs case in Wisconsin in October of this year. Very similar.

I wasn't aware of this murder case since I saw it on YouTube summer last year , this murder case may be unsolved but eventually it might be possible be solved one day . Somehow this case is very interesting....

It is a sad case. My late father knew Mr. Short through some work Mr. Short had done for him. I have always wondered why Jennifer was taken and why her body was found many miles from where her parents bodies were located. You are correct about the similarities between this case and Closs family murders in Wisconsin. Hopefully, Jayme will not be found deceased like Jennifer though at this point I am not very optimistic.

I was only inn Bassett once, but I was in the general area several times as I had an aunt and uncle who lived in Eden NC. I usually drove to Danville or Martinsville and then south to Eden. A nice quiet area. In your case it has to be tough when you have a connection to the case.

Yes it is troubling and it really upset my father. I think he had seen him not long before the murders.

In addition to being similar to the Closs murders, it also (very sadly) reminds me of the Ashley Freeman/Lauria Bible disappearance and presumed murders in OK in 1999. Both of Freeman's parents were found murdered in their burned out mobile home. Ashley (their daughter) and her BFF Lauria both age 16 who happened to just be spending the night with Ashley were in the home when the murders occurred. They were taken hostage by the killers and raped over a period of days before being executed. Their bodies have never been found. I don't believe the original plan of the killers involved taking the girls and that part of the crime came about after the killers arrived at the Freman home.

There are lots of theories for this case The Sexual Predator , Mary's Harrasser , Hired Killer and finally the theory that the Short Family's surviving family members they believed , the Cop Corruptions Theory

Of course I do not know for certain but I believe horrible as it sounds Jennifer Short was the target of a violent sexual predator and that he killed her parents in the commission of the crime.
