The South Hill Police Department needs your help to locate Monte Reavis. While not normal to provide investigative updates to the public, this case has generated a great deal of public interest and some concern about the handling of the investigation by the South Hill Police Department. What follows is an overview of our investigation, if you have additional information, please contact us.
On October 15, 2021, the family of
Mr. Monte Reavis reported him missing to the South Hill Police Department. During the course of the investigation, detectives have constructed the following
timeline of events:
•
October 9, 2021 – This is the last reported contact between Mr. Reavis and his family.
•
October 10, 2021 – A friend of Mr. Reavis reported that he dropped Mr. Reavis off at the Days Inn in South Hill. When he returned later, Mr. Reavis was not there. (SHPD later confirmed that Reavis had stayed at the Days Inn for several days before checking out on October 9.) Mr. Reavis left his cell phone at this friend's house.

October 11, 2021 - Mr. Reavis was reportedly seen on this date on Robinson Ferry Rd. in White Plains. He was also seen knocking on a door on Evans Creek Rd in Brodnax on the 11th Investigators believe this to be after he was given a ride to the area by a family member and ran off.

October 13, 2021 – Mr. Reavis was reportedly seen on Canaan Church Rd. in LaCrosse by a subject that had worked with him in the past.

October 15, 2021 – Mr. Reavis is reported missing and entered into the national missing person’s database.
•
October 16, 2021 – SHPD Detectives created a missing person flyer and posted it to social media.
•
October 17, 2021 - Detectives received updated information from the family and responded to a family residence in Brunswick County to speak with them. The family reported that Mr. Reavis had been seen by a family member on October 11, 2021, and was given a ride to his mother’s house, in Brunswick. Once at that location, Mr. Reavis got out of the vehicle and ran away. Detectives contacted several subjects that Mr. Reavis had stayed with over the past several years and none of them had seen him since October 10, 2021, at the Days Inn.

Week of October 18, 2021 – SHPD received information that Mr. Reavis was seen in a local convenience store.
Detectives have been in contact with Investigators from Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
All areas that Mr. Reavis was reported in have been checked by detectives.
Detectives have
tried to track Mr. Reavis by an iWatch that he may have in his possession, but those efforts have been unsuccessful. Detectives have also
tried tracking Mr. Reavis by his debit card but his
last transaction was when he was with friends
prior to the last contact family had with him.
Information was forwarded to area news stations.

If you live or have a business in any of the above locations and have cameras, we would ask that you please check them for Monte Reavis. These are the
clothing descriptions that we have:

October 11th – Black pants and red and white shirt
•
October 11th – A person living in White Plains saw him wearing black pants, possibly sweats or joggers, and a red hoodie.
•
October 13th – Former co-worker said black t-shirt and blue jeans.
