I also DON'T think this is a case where Morgan OD'ed because of a few things..her friends that she went to the concert with WEREN'T with her when she vanishes. I also think that her friends wouldn't freak out and not call police and try to get her friend help...why dispose of your friend body..call an ambulance and get help. I understand they might feel scared about getting caught with drugs or alcohol but I don't think that this was the case.
Morgan wasn't 21..where did the alcohol come from? Who bought it? Where did they consume it?
I heard there is a party house close to the farm that is rented by students..did they party there before the concert? How did Morgan think she would get home?? Find a ride home..who would drive all that way to bring her home? Why didn't get friends care about who would bring her home. Didn't Morgan live far away from the concert venue..according to what I read.

Please tell me why NG, AGAIN, chooses not to cover this story? What does she base her shows on? What SHE feels like covering? What SHE thinks is popular? I don't get it.

I DON'T know..I'm watching it TOO..JVM Issues was much better tonight than Nancy Grace because Issues had Morgan's father on it tonight

Part of me hopes this is CNN's effort to ensure coverage for all big cases. Sometimes, particularly with the Caylee Anthony case, it seemed they really didn't report things much differently, they had access to the same facts. There are many cases that are hot right now, so personally, I'm glad they are covering different ones so we get an update on more than 1 case :)

On findmorgan.com there is a rumor that might be true that her exboyfriend had an argument with her the day before she disappeared and that he has been abusive in the past...could he of went to the concert or met her there? Surely, her friends would be okay with her finding a ride home from him since she knows him. Maybe he is the one that picked her up on the bridge or outside the arena? Also, apparently the ex does hunting. Maybe he knew about the farm?

DING DONG....THOUGHT that just hit me....
Why hasn't anyone from the college announced to becareful on campus or around the bridge or close to 29 because there might be a killer on the loose? Don't they normally do that for college students be aware and not get in cars with strangers.

On findmorgan.com on the forums is Morgan knew the perp..her father stated that "he did not think morgan knew the killer"
I do think the killer is a local, personally.

  • #208
the killer has to be local to the farm area, now or past.....not random leaving her on that farm.
bluestarzzz

Because colleges don't want parents (e.g., customers) to think that students might be at risk. Even if they are. And everyone tells students not to drink, binge drink, hitchhike, take rides, etc.

Not me. Knowing how Mrs. Harrington has spoken in previous interviews and in (print) reports, I don't think it's odd. But I can see how someone not fully following this case would think so.

Tho I have not been posting I have been folloing since she went missing and have heard and read various interviews with the family...so that has no bearing on why that statement strkes me oddly. I just can't feature admiring my daugter's bones having just been found murdered.

I would have thought it odd if I hadn't read some of Gils' previous writings. After hearing her statement about the bones it didn't even phase me because it sounded like something she'd say. In fact, it reminded me of a blog she had written early on.

We are getting more ragged. Dan is losing so much weight he is hitching up his pants constantly. We are forced to have such new intimacies like this with our friends. It doesn’t feel weird, though. I am starting to look like a stick with a bun. Even the dog won’t eat. We are becoming a family of skeletons. Morgan, are you a skeleton now too? …

I thought that was morbid at the time, but soon just realized it was just her way of thinking and dealing with the situation.

I also found one of her other recent comments strange too. It went something like "I hope she didn't live long." or something like that. But THAT one I can kind of see what she means (as in, hope she didn't suffer long). The others....ehhh....not so much.

She certainly has a weird way with words. I don't care for it much. But, I'm also not in her situation and can only imagine how she feels and what she's thinking. But, if that helps her cope, then so be it. JMO

Yeah Ghost, we pretty much talked all that to death earlier. LOL

I think we all agree that it's most likely NOT possible that it was her body. It would have been removed by then I'm sure.

Also, when people mentioned how they though she was lying on a stretcher, I got the impression people meant one of those old pole kinda stretchers like this:

If anything, that's what it looks like. Not one of the modern day ones with wheels.

This response is a reply to some of the comments about Gil's writing ( several posts above).

One thing to remember, Both of the Harringtons work in healthcare; the father is a Medical Doctor and the mother a Registered Nurse. Often, people who work within healthcare are more comfortable referring to our bodies in reference to medical terminology. In consideration of the time since disapperance and the context of the situation, it made sense that her Mother would think of Morgan as a skeleton...this is not meant to be morbid or callous but it was a reference to the most probable outcome.

I'm thinking the murderer was someone she met online
& went looking to meet him before the concert. He's a local guy.

Beatrice - thanks. I posted a comment about this with a question as to whether anyone else remembered some talk in early threads that Morgan was talking to someone online, and speculation that this person may be the perp. I am sure LE has taken her computer, and wonder if they have a possible perp in mind, based on evidence found there. At any rate, I appreciate your post as nobody responded to my question. It makes me happy to know that someone else remembers the discussions of an online contact that Morgan possibly met up with - and confims that I do not have Alzheimer's - yet. LOL

APPOMATTOX COUNTY, VA (WWBT)--Investigators will return to the Albemarle farm this morning for day three in their search for clues in the death of Morgan Harrington.

<snip>

Police say they've received several leads since Tuesday's announcement about the grim discovery.

http://www.nbc12.com/Global/story.asp?S=11893741

I'm hoping that people in the area where she was found would think back to anything they saw or heard back then that (at the time) may not have seemed connected to this case, but in hindsight...

Was the concert that night sold out?

Is there a way we could make a "sticky" post with some FAQs? Maybe with info about things we do know...such as the no reentry policy, maps of the area, etc. Maybe just add the info to the beginning of each thread in a summary.

There is so much we don't know that it might help new readers to catch up. We have accumulated a lot of good info in previous threads that gets lost in the shuffle.

I can work on it if anyone thinks it would be helpful.

The best way to access the location where missing Virginia Tech student Morgan D. Harrington’s body was found is across a neighboring property, according to the Albemarle County farmer who found her remains.

“A lot of my neighbors who are outdoors people have said to me that they think the most logical entrance is from Blandemar Farm subdivision,” Dave Bass said.

The area, Blandemar Farm Estates, is a collection of large homes on cul-de-sacs, surrounded by vast expanses of clipped grass.

Bass said he saw police drive a car across that grass and through a neighbor’s hayfield to access a fence line near where the body was found on his farm. The farm is west of U.S. 29, near its intersection with Red Hill Road, about 5.5 miles south of Interstate 64.

“The easiest way by public road, even in a car, not an SUV or pickup or tractor, would be what I just described,” he said. “There is a barbed wire fence, but you couldn’t get to that place without crossing creeks or barbed wire fences.”
