I just sat and listened to the entire PC/Rader statements. If he said "location" once he said it a thousand times!
IMO, LE has their POI, and are trying to beef up their case with more incriminating facts for the case.
IMO it sounds like he is referring to possibly local youths - friends, a club, or some sort of collection of people who specifically utilize that area for something - gatherings, meetings, etc. He seemed like it was activities that have happened over the years involving this group or the person.
I am thinking maybe kids that grew up together from the local area frequenting that location.
He wanted folks to go back in their memory, and not just for the Oct 17th date of MH's disappearance.
He said they may have moved away by now.
He said they use that location "when put in high stress situation". How odd! That says to me he has specific info about prior behavior of a person from that area in that location.
Rader also said he was not interested in the offender. What? To me that seems like he knows who it is, and wants people to scan their memory about what went on in their community with local people in the past.

DING DING DING, this is the crux of the whole press conference from LE, they're almost saying "Look local folks, you know the killer, he's someone you have some doubt about and he knows the farm, call us with the name confidentially..."

or, "if you fit this description, you had better start running..."

One only wonders.

Going back on topic to yesterday's press conference, I finally had a chance to watch the entire thing, including the Q&A portion at the end.

My impression after watching the entire thing was that yes, indeed, the authorities have either a person of interest or some pretty strong evidence they are withholding from the public, as Lt. Rader's statement of "We are not interested in a confession or suspects"...

Then, later on, when one of the reporters asks him about the terrain he specifically states "I am not here to talk about the offender, I am not here to talk about the offender responsible. We just want information on the area. For now, that's good enough for what we need. I have my reasons for sending the message I'm saying."

What do you all think about this statement?

Hmmmm that is interesting.

Yup. I agree. Sounds like they have someone in mind. Now they just need the public's help in trying to place the person at the farm on a certain day (the day Morgan was placed there).

Here's the thing though, wouldn't it be more efficient for LE just to talk to everyone and their mother who knows their POI and his behavior? They could search his phone records, work records, talk to his friends, family, coworkers, and ex-girlfriends to find out if their supposed POI was in the area that night, and if he knows the farm well.
Why hold a presser and ask for hundreds of random tips from the public to come in, and hope one or two are specifically related at their POI?
:waitasec:

True. But maybe they don't want to scare anyone by actually showing up at their door? Maybe people would be more inclined to give info in if they know they can do so anonymously? I really don't know.

That's a good possibility. Maybe those close to this person are being quiet but would give a tip anonymously.

Anybody else here been over to the find morgan site and see the you tube video of the small three member band performing at Anchorage Farm in probably Dec. '09 ?? To me the band and "audience" don't seem weird or anything but I had no idea it had been confirmed that bands performed at Anchorage farm(even a tiny performance like this one!)

Did you report this to the VA police? It sounds like the kind of information they're looking for about the location.

I saw that video of the three member band. IMO it looks like nothing more than a private get together between friends. I'd hardly call it a concert (like some are calling it) that would attract many people from the area.

And, since it did take place in Dec., wasn't the owners daughter living there then (in the particular house these band members were filmed)? I'm sure they've already questioned her by now about people who may have been to the home over the last several months. JMO.

All true, but the way Lt. Rader emphasized "place," I think they want to know about it no matter what kind of event it was.

Their site (forums) says:

Welcome to the forums. The forums will be offline for a few hours due to updates. Take this time to spend with family, and reflect on the memory of Morgan. Let us all keep Dan, Gil and Alex in our prayers tonight.

Thanks!

So, should be up later.

Where is the "Find Morgan" site?

I know the find morgan site is down for maintenance right now but if you get a chance to read the thread(about the 3 piece band performing at A. farm), you will see it has been reported to LE and been analyzed like crazy by people over there.I agree it is not even something you could call a concert,BUT it does make me think there's a possibility this home on the farm was a place where people gathered, adding more people to the group who might feel comfortable on that piece of private property.

  • #337
If that is true then they really need to question the owners daughter about who she knows and who's been there over time. Especially since she supposedly has been living there since June, I believe I read.

On the application for historical recognition in 2001 it said the tenants had rented that house for 20 yrs. Do we know when they left, it must have been after 2001. Do we know who they were? I know someone posted that UVA student(s) rented prior to DB's daughter moving in. Anyone know how long they were there or were there different UVA students at different times? How did DB come to know these students? Did he know them as locals growing up or did they just apply from an ad? Does anyone know the age of DB's daughter? Tia

c-ville.com reported yesterday that mr. bass has turned over to le the names of all prior lessees, acquaintances of his daughter, and others with access to the property. i would think if it was one of these people, the need for the appeal to the community yesterday would have been unnecessary because the connection to the farm would already be established. however, if it was a friend or relative of one of these folks, the "message" sent yesterday by vsp might make more sense.
