Welcome - NoLongerLurking. Glad you joined us.

This board is acting weird. I posted too soon. I was going to ask if your brother has any idea/theory why this information isn't being shared at UVA. Do they receive other notifications about crimes in the area?

Information is being shared at UVA, a notification is sent out via e-mail to every uva student and employee with a UVA email address (which is a lot!). We are notified every time something new is found out.
Students know, I had a group of three girls come in the other day that seemed pretty shocked that such a thing would happen around here, some students just might be affected more than others depending on if they are from bigger cities and are used to such things happening or not.

But either way, UVA is notifying everyone on campus working or student about what is going on.

Thanks! I just got off the phone with him, and he said even as of today, he's not seeing posters, hearing student theories, anything. However, he did say that notices were posted at each building stating something to the effect of "Please use extra caution this weekend, as it is Halloween, in light of the current missing person's case that occurred on campus".
But still, that's IT.

It's been speculated that MH may have been meeting someone - possibly a "hook up" with a bf...

What if that bf isn't a bf but a gf...

You know the H family was adamant that she didn't have a bf...

I have been catching up on the last couple of pages and a couple of things have me thinking. First off the kiss she gave her friend had to be a goodbye kiss. I have never known of anybody kissing their friend to go to the bathroom???

Then my second thought goes to the Metallica gang. Was there a following in the RV parking that follows the band?

I am not into this kind of music. Lamb of God and Metallica. What kind of crowd does this attract?

If she overdrew her checking account...then she was void of money for drugs or cigarettes. If somebody stole her purse then she had nada..not even a phone.

This mystery seems to grow.

IMO, her mother may be taking sedatives or anti-anxiety medication. I know I most likely would if I were in her situation. If she is on these meds, her emotions are probably suppressed. Even if she isn't taking anything, no tears doesn't mean anything. She may be able to hold it together during the interview, only to break down once the cameras stop filming.

I have found the mother acting very, very strange. I keep comparing her to the way Beth Holloway acted and they don't even compare.

If the friends knew they wouldn't see her why did they wait around afterward by the car for her??Why would she arrange to meet somebody in the middle of a concert?

 • #207
This whole business about the cars has confused me from the start. I think the issue is finally settled (but you can never be sure). Apparently they took Morgan's car from Harrisonburg to the concert but Morgan wasn't the driver and she did not keep the keys. This just shouts: "designated driver". Not really a big deal. A lot of kids party before Concerts. Actually suggest "responible behavior".

Morgans parents have been reported as claiming they took a different car to the concert. The only explaination for this "disinformation" that I can think of is that they wanted to maintain the elements that seem to be necessary if a "missing Woman" case is to get serious attention. She must be white, attractive, middle class, and PURE AS THE DRIVEN SNOW. They were trying to protect her image.

There seems to be no obvious reason for her to leave the venue. There was a smoking terrace so she didn't need to leave, If the restroom had a line, I can see a guy "heading for the bushed" but a girl, no. She would just have to wait in line. It is possible that it was not clearly marked at an exit (or she didn't notice) that there was no re-admission. Where I have been, this is always made very clear. I am wondering that if she was obviously intoxicated, she could have been "escorted out" by security. My guess is that it would be covered up if it happened.

The claim that she was going to "stay with" or "get a ride home with" someone she knew from Charlottesville is very suspect. Even if she knew anyone there (and it is not clear that she did) they would not only have to pick her up from the concert but take her all the way to Harrisonburg the next day. This dosen't make sense. What does male sense is that she would wait outside untill the concert was over (perhaps 2 hours). She apparently did hang out there for at least an hour before something happened. I am suspicious that her friends made up the story of "friends in Charlotteville" to justify their leaving without her.

The RV lot is obviously significant in this crime (and it is almost certainly a crime). She was seen there yet it was not clear that she was "with" anyone there. Had someone there "shot the breeze" with her a bit then parted ways, you would have expected them to come forward in light of the publicity. A likely reason she would have been there was that in was in route to the the railroad bridge to Ivy rd which led to some stores. I suspect she was just passing by the RV area. Perhaps she saw people hanging out and she went in to see what was going on. She had plenty of time to kill. She apparently was't there long, if she stopped at all because she was soon seen on the bridge alone. We can never be sure of the credibility of any sighting but LE seems to find these credible and, people, particularly men, would have been likely to remember her. She was not seen again. She was not remembered or caught on video in any stores on Ivy that were open.

Since she appears to have made it past the RV area safetly, how was her purse (with a batteryless cell phone) left there? I don't think this was an unrelated act of carelessness (what happened to the cell phone?) I can't belive it was a coincidence that the perp just happened to ditch her purse somewhere she had been earlier (as opposed to a dumpster or something) I think it was a delberate "misdirection" by the perp. I suspect that the perp saw her there before the abduction and wanted LE to believe the abduction occured at the RV area. I am guessing that the perp saw her heading accross the bridge and followed her in his car. The abduction must have taken place on the bridge or on the other side where he might have waited for her. Then, after everything went dowm, he would have returned to drop the purse. One reason he might have done this is that some one he knew had seen him leave the RV area alone, (thus creating an alibi). I hope LE has tried to track down everyone who was at the RV area between 9:15 and 9:45 that night.

From the astrology, for anyone in the area who wants to help out...

Using Ivy Goldstein-Jacobson's approach, the body would be NORTH NORTH WEST of place of Last Seen, possibly up to 20 miles away, at a higher elevation (hillsides, mountain meadows, near trees, hunting areas, detached buildings in clean or barren gravel fields) --- but possibly at ground level (in a higher elevation) because SATURN (significator of corpses), the traditional Part of DEATH, and the Part of FIND are all in Virgo, an Earth sign. SATURN, DEATH and FIND are intercepted, thus she is hidden and harder to find.

"Morgan and Melvin, who share an off-campus apartment in Blacksburg, drove to Harrisonburg, where they picked up Snead and, according to her father, the boyfriend of a friend. According to State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller, the four rode from Harrisonburg to Charlottesville in Morgan's car. Morgan, Geller says, allowed a friend to drive, so she didn't have her car keys with her during the show."

In the comments section of the same article is the following message:

"@J Hey, this is the Hook editor here. Morgan's dad originally told us that Morgan's car and keys stayed in Harrisonburg. In preparing this cover story, State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller-- asserting a change in info-- told us the contrary scenario we put in this story above. So we spoke again this morning to Dr. Harrington, and he stands by his statement: that Morgan's car was never in Charlottesville. Messages left this morning with Ms. Geller have not been immediately returned, but we'll update as soon as she clarifies.

Sounds to me like Morgan's parents either aren't being given all the information LE is making public, they don't agree with it, or (in their emotional state) don't remember. I have been confused by some of their previous statements that have conflicted with published LE statements and now wonder if the information they're providing is accurate.

They have gone back and forth on this. They also could not decide if it was or was not Morgan in those pictures taken of the blonde haired girl up by the stage at the concert.

"Dan and Gil Harrington, however, no longer believe there's any chance Morgan voluntarily disappeared. 'We've gotten past the she-ran-away-with-a-boy idea,' says Dan. 'But I wish this had been the case. ' "
"

"No longer believe?" This is new for me. Did they initially believe that Morgan may have left of her own volition?
By Kant ( I chose not to copy the whole text)

Actually at the very first news conference Gil said I hope she comes home in time for her test??? That seemed strange to me.

Ok here is my new theory. The three girls and the boyfriend of her friend go to the concert. Its been six months of waiting for this concert and she is now lukewarm about the band. She goes into the concert with her friends. Happy go lucky. They take their seats and are having a good time. Somebody important to her calls her. She decided to meet them. She tells her friends she is going and with whom. She kisses her friend good bye and leaves the area. She goes to the bathroom and then outside to meet her friend. He doesn't show up and she is outside and can't get back in. She is mad. Her friend calls her on the cell phone to ask about her and she tells her the friend is not there yet and that she will wait a bit more or find a ride home.
This "somebody she is meeting" is somebody that she is not real proud of and the friends don't approve of and the parents try to act like doesn't exist.
So the friends love her but are a bit put off that she would leave the concert for "him/her". But they say to themselves "She is living her life as she wishes"

From that point I don't have a clue what happened but at least it explains her leaving.

Wow this is just ..... IDK. Why are there so many back and forth reports about the dang car? That seems like a SIMPLE thing. gees.

This girl lives in her own apartment she can meet with and be with anyone she wants anytime why would somebody decide they needed to see her right then unless it was connected with that show? Even if you didn't love Metallica so much they were the headliners why even go if you're not going to watch them? The parking lot arrival acquaintance said she was still real excited about seeing them.

 • #215
sorry, there should be a comma between the "her"s :)
It was not her car, her car was in fact parked at JMU, it was her friend's car-how's that :)
Thank you. I've heard it so many ways and that really is an IMPORTANT (but seemingly simple enough) factor. Thanks.

Somewhat Off Topic, but I noticed in the family photo accompanying the Hook article, Morgan and her brother certainly don't seem to look at all alike. Makes me wonder if one or both is/are adopted. Not that it matters...just wondering.

Ok now I have thought about it so I continue. The "somebody' finally shows up..late of course. They argue. The cell phone keeps ringing with the friends trying to find out if "somebody" showed up. She tells them yes. "Somebody" gets mad at the ringing phone and throws the purse and phone out the window and the battery falls out. They continue fighting.

Thats about all I have folks.

By the way aren't most crimes against women commited by somebody they know? Does anybody know the percentage? Like how many are commited by somebody they know and how many are committed by strangers? Might be interesting.

I agree it could sound weird, but my personal interoperation (and this is only based on what I thought when I read it) was that there was hope that she had just run away at first b/c in this type of situation it would be the best case scenario, but not that they had any evidence that this was the case just that they hoped/believed this was the case. Then as time went on (and as far as we know there was no activity on her bank accounts etc.) they started to accept that this may well not have a happy ending. Interoperating it as I did it did not sound as strange to me. But if the statement was interoperated differently (which it reasonably could be) then it would be a little weird.

I didn't think it was weird. I was just commenting that this was the first I had heard of it.... that it was new to me. That's all.

Hokies host Tar Heels tonight; Harrington flyers to be handed out at game
October 29, 2009
<snipped>
Before and during the game, flyers of Morgan Harrington will be handed out. She was last seen on October 17th at the Metallica concert in Charlottesville. The flyers will include Morgan's picture, a brief description of where she was last seen, and the tip line's phone number.

Virginia Tech will run Morgan's picture on the Hokie vision jumbotron before the game and during halftime. We're told Tech has asked ESPN to run something during their broadcast, and the understanding is ESPN plans to do that.

UPDATE: Missing Virginia Tech student reportedly seen on bridge
Published: October 29, 2009
<snipped>
Police think she stayed near the arena until about 9 p.m.

Between then and 9:10 p.m., a woman matching Harrington’s description was seen walking, with her purse, through the University Hall parking area.

In the next 10 minutes, a woman matching her description was seen in the overflow parking area near Lannigan Field. Harrington’s purse and cell phone, minus its battery, were found in that area the next morning.

Between about 9:20 and 9:30 Saturday night, someone matching the description was seen on the Copeley Road railroad bridge. “I think the focus is really trying to see if anyone saw anything of Morgan after 9:30 at that Copeley Road-Ivy Road intersection,“ Dan Harrington said.

Ok if LE is stating it was indeed her car driven that night, it makes me even MORE confused and perplexed why her friends left her there......not only left her there, but drove home in HER car.

This whole thing is just not right. There is absolutely NO reason her friends would leave her there, especially driving her car and especially "as they supposedly said" didn't know for sure where she was.

I'm more than convinced now....her friends hold the key to this tragedy. None of us are so dumb and naive we don't see through this facade of inconsistences and untruths.

Poor Morgan....God Bless her.
I know right? Oh man, I agree with the poster who said if they cant get it straight WHO WENT and HOW THEY GOT THERE.. holy crap... how on earth will the girl be found?

And yikes, if Mr Harrington BOUGHT ALL THE TICKETS and it was Morgan's car they drove back without Morgan in it YIKES> YIKES> YIKES>

And WHO WENT to the freakin concert for cryin out loud? Is that so freakin HARD?

I've heard Morgan, Amy the roommate, Sarah one of the nine, and a boyfriend who was not the boyfriend of Morgan Amy OR Sarah, but is the bf of yet a different girl? So the other girl's boyfriend went with the three grils and his actaul girlfriend DIDN'T GO? WTH???

geees
