Ok...please take your time reading all of this, there is a lot of information. Some of it, I have labeled clearly as RUMORS, and these should not be treated as fact.
RUMOR! (from a Roanoke resident who's family knows the Harrington Family)
*Allegedly, Morgan has used drugs in the past (which is pretty typical of kids that age)
*Allegedly, Morgan had been known to take off on her own from time to time, leaving her friends to go off and hang out with other groups of friends. Allegedly, many of her friends had become annoyed with this bad habit. Suppossudly on the night of the concert, her friends left without her, because taking off with others/finding her own ride was something she typically did-allegedly.
SCENARIO'S provided by friends of MH's family and friends (these are the common scenarios from the Roanoke Community who knew her):
1. MH was under the influence of drugs, which may have put her in a manic mood (typical of Cocaine) where she felt on top of the world, safe, and invincible OR she was under the infulence of a downer, like alcohol and was confused, disoriented and not in her right fram of mind. She hitch hiked/accepted a ride with the wrong person.
2. MH got in the car with someone she knew, but did not know well, and in a drug induced moment, something went terribly wrong. Ideas have been someone else who was stranded outside and used that to befriend her, or a friend she had made only recently, someone who didn't know and love her the way a life long friend would.
The general consensus is that if she had OD'd or had alcohol poisioning, the friends she was with would have called for help.
My OBSERATIONS at JPJ:
1. I did not see a single sign for the SMOKING AREA. In fact, people near me in the stands were smoking in their seats! (didn't help my head cold!) By the time I left I never found the smoking area, or the ATM, lol!
2. My ticket, which was a print off from Ticketmaster, with a bar code, made NO MENTION of a ZERO RE ADMITTANCE Policy
3. I did not see a single sign that said ZERO RE ADMITTANCE from the arena. When I left early, around 11pm, alone, NOT ONE Guard or Police Officer said "If you leave you can't come back in." (Since MH's disapperance, we knew my friend couldn't get back in if he walked out and waited with me, so we asked where there were cabs, and the police officer sent me in the WRONG direction, there were no cabs where he said...but luckily, I stopped one with people in it and asked the driver to call one for me!)
4. I noticed that on campus, there were Blue Emergency Boxes every 200 feet or so. On the block surrounding the arena, there was NOT ONE Blue Emergency Box.
5. The arena isn't easy to walk around on the outside. There isn't a little sidewalk that surrounds the arena, just a few feet away from the building. You would have to walk all the way out, and down the street and around. I am not sure how many doors she would have tried to get back in, because that wouldn't have been very easy. This is probably why poor Morgan crossed the Copley Street Bridge...if only she would have walked around to see Emmet Street, there is a Taco Bell and a large shopping center in close proximity, and Emmet is a much busier road, so it would have been safer.
6. The hallways inside JPJ are pretty easy to walk through and there were UVA JPJ Staff everywhere.
7. The parking lots were fairly well lit, and the main roads nearby, when I left, had police barricades set up to deal with traffic.
8. In order to buy beer, you had to get a wristband or an X to state that you were 21. That made it easy for other security guards to identify anyone underage walking around with booze.
9. Sadly, there were ZERO SIGNS FOR MISSING MORGAN INSIDE the arena.
Am I missing anything? If you have any questions about the arena, let me know!
I edited for misspellings!
