He's doing this for 2 reasons:
1) He's hoping the judge will like this move and give him a leaner sentence.
2) He gets out earlier if he starts serving earlier...

I think he is hoping to be out by Christmas. On the news they said this is really odd. Most people don't go to jail until ordered to do so. Given his sentencing is set for 12-10-07 I would think the judge would have maybe let him report to jail after Christmas. Maybe he does have a conscious and it has caught up with him, or at least that's how his publicist told him his early reporting would look.

Right, surprise, surprise, Michael, they hopefuly won't ever let you play F-O-O-T-B-A-L-L again, so forget about that comeback.

Yep, he said he is showing he is taking responsibility for his actions, etc. I'm surprised he didn't wait until Friday, but maybe his family/friends weren't planning on celebrating Thanksgiving with him, anyways.

If he gets a one year sentence, he will serve 10 months with the last month eligible to be done in a half way house. That would put him back in football by September. That's why he turned himself in. 3 week jump on the action.

I bet he does. I think he will make nice nice to Goodell and a weak team will pick him up and he will be all saved and repentent. he will show his remorse and go on a crusade against animal cruelty. mark my words.

Is that a firm 23 months, or will he be out earlier for good behavior, etc? I'll go read the links! Thanks.

Good. I wish that he had gotten more time. Will Virginia prosecute him, too?

I'm just as sickened today as I was before! I don't think he really gets it either and doubt being in prison will help. But, I'm glad he is in prison and for longer than I thought. It will make him worse though. I don't know what the answer is for him, I'd hate to say he's a hopeless soul but perhaps he is or soon will be. He will still be a hero in prison and on the streets when he gets out. I don't think he will ever play in the NFL again and hope he never works with children coaching. I bet he gets out and does just fine though, but I don't think he could live with the conditions of parole or probation and not get in trouble.

That time is not nearly long enough. Not even close.
