I'm remembering echoes of other cases, where a woman demanded her boyfriend murder a rival.

Were NK and DE in a relationship?

It seems clear now that this wasn't a case of Nichole unexpectedly becoming sick and dying while with David.

I don't think you can eliminate an accidental killing in the course of a statutory rape. NK was not charged with murder, there is no evidence and the police have no evidence she was involved in the commission of a murder.

It could very well be the case that he lured Natalie out of her room for sex, and either something went wrong, like she was drinking and got sick, or he went into a rage and killed her, or he even set out to kill her. She was only charged with felony disposal of a body and a misdemeanor crime. Natalie could have died and he could have called his friend NK in after the fact. I wonder if maybe the perp did not have a car but NK did and that is how she got herself involved? He needed her car to move the body and that is how she is involved. If her involvement is like that I am sure she would be singing as a canary now telling the police what she knows. Given they found the body and are searching the lake I suspect she is.

The Diana Samaro angle (TX cadet case) seems not be to be scenario here given that she was not charged with murder. Moreover, police are getting info from somewhere, I suspect it is her. While it is one scenario that this was a nefarious couple murder, the evidence presented so far and the inferences we can take from them suggest the above scenario I pose is a possible scenario.

The Samaro case took months to solve because both held firm for many months. That is usually the case with these couple murders.

I'm sorry, NK is an arrested suspect, so I thought it was ok to mention. And I'm 200% sure it was her LI page but wasn't sure I was allowed to link to that site.

But people seem to be misinterpreting my comment anyway, so I'll just go back to lurking
No worries. If you're 200% sure, then you're fine. ;)

Do either of these folks have criminal records?

In any event the body was in one of the perps cars so there should be a ton of forensics.

(How many of us here snuck out as a teen and met an older guy? I did it. Kills me to think about it. Makes me sick.)

I've looked and turned up nothing. If they do, they were likely juveniles at the time. They haven't been legal adults for long.

Does anyone know how long Nicole would have signs or illness without her medication?

Good point.

From news reports it seems like she needs it everyday.

That's a rough mugshot of her (yeah, mugshots are usually rough but...)...tooootally different from her Facebook pictures!

Ugh.

Poor Nichole. Bless her heart, having to be so strong as a kid with her transplant.

:furious:

She looks like she's mad at the world.

I'm seeing some custody cases involving people with DE's last name in Howard County but I can't figure out if they are related or not. Does anyone know DE's birthday? If so I may be able to figure this out.

Also college campuses have an app called friendsy which functions like tinder where they can meet people online usually for hookups. I am sure there were 1000 of girls at VT on there and the campus is big enough that even if you wanted anonymous encounters you could do that. Just put picture up, and people sat whether they want to be friends, hookup or date and if both pick each other they can meet up and do whatever. Why go bother someone off campus let alone a 13 year old girl?

I stalk my daughters college yik yak people are always looking to hook up

I did but never alone - it was always a group of us. But never at 13, that was just unthinkable at that age (for me, anyway).

I can certainly see potential signs of psychopathy in that interview. He appeared rigid and his speech was very flat---no enthusiasm or emotion was displayed---and he appears very methodical.

I can't lie, he gave me the creeps. Maybe his female peers are also creeped out by him, so he sought out younger, unsuspecting girls online.

I had the same reaction when I saw that video of him. I saw something "off" and unsettling. Creepy might be the right word.

Does anyone know how long Nicole would have signs or illness without her medication?

"[Her uncle] Fred Hawks said she takes two pills each morning and one at night. He said her doctors at the University of Virginia said she may be able to go a little longer without medication because she’s been taking her pills regularly and her most recent blood work showed everything was OK.

But after three days without medication, Hawks said, “it could go either way.” By day five, she would most likely be experiencing liver failure."

I wonder if Nicole didn't take her medication because she expected to return home that night.

Agree. I expect that they have established NL's DNA in NK's vehicle.

It's been mentioned that both NK and DE are from the same area in MD. My dd's bf is also a soph engineering major at VT. Freshman are allowed to have cars on campus, but it's discouraged. We live about 7 hours from Blacksburg. Last year he would come home on breaks by hitching rides with upperclassmen. It wouldn't surprise me if the two of them (NK, DE) have traveled to/from the Baltimore area -- and she may have loaned him a vehicle on other instances.

The VT online directory indicates that DE lives in West AJ, while NK lives in Lee (same dorm as dd's bf). These residences halls are in the same vicinity, but not adjacent.
