I don't understand why this is not first degreee murder for both.

Thank you. I was beginning to think I was the only one that didn't understand why she wasn't also charged with first degree murder. It really makes no sense that she is not. Like I said earlier, Clu, it must be some weird law in VA.

And another thing I don't understand is why is she the only one charged with the body disposal? Most DAs will stack the charges on the murder defendant if they have broken another law in that state beyond the abduction and first degree murder charge. As it stands now DE's DT can say she took the body out there by herself since their client wasn't charged. And she sure seems sturdy enough to handle a body to me.

One time I saw a criminal case on A&E where a small petite woman drug her 220 pound husband's dead body down two flights of stairs and she pulled him to the parking lot and loaded him up in her van and then disposed of his body all by herself. I really don't trust anything about Keepers or anything she may say happened.

I still say once the forensic evidence starts to come back in this case and as the investigation continues it may change again and additional charges could be added later on to each one. Even if DE had sex with Nicole that night even if it wasn't forced he still should be charged with statutory rape. Or even if he had sex with her prior to that night. LE may have it online where he admits he did have sex with her or admits to some type of sexual contact.

If it was his car then why did she have Nicole's blanket and not DE?

To all the people asking why the site should be held responsible.

Jmo. When you start a site; You are responsible for that site. So if any illegal activities are going down on your site. Then you are responsible since it's your site to monitor and ban whomever or contact the authorities. Jmo.

So please stop asking why the site should be held responsible for grown men or older teens that are trying to hook up with 13 year olds that look 10 years old.

Anytime that you make a site. You must promise that it will not be used nor allow illegal activities. So if you don't monitor your site via yourself or staff. Then your site can be sued in the long run. Jmo.

Certain powers granted require tremendous accountability. Jmo.

This has probably already been posted but it's the first time I've seen these particular details from the today's hearing:

Defense lawyers argued that Keepers' mental health could unravel behind bars.

"We understand the allegations are disturbing and serious," attorney Kristopher Olin said. "But they are just allegations."

Keepers told the judge that she began cutting her body and had considered suicide "a few times" after being bullied in school five years ago. She said she's been in therapy and taking Prozac since then.

She's also allergic to the gluten in jail food, Olin added.

Looks like they are setting up for an insanity defense already. And awww poor little NK, she was bullied so she went out and killed somebody?

And this:
He (DE) said he drove to the girl's home, watched her climb out of her window and greeted her with a "side hug" before they drove off to pick up Keepers.

Keepers is adamant that she was not present at the killing itself, but she went along for the ride, Pettitt said. And once Nicole was dead, Keepers helped load her body into Eisenhauer's Lexus, the prosecutor added.

This sounds to me that she was there when Nicole was killed.

DE did have sexual contact with NL. LE confirmed today.

But it hasn't been made clear if it was direct physical contact, or electronic, right? I guess I'm just not convinced they had met in person before. It will be interesting to see what else comes out. I'm really hoping she wasn't assaulted sexually (I don't believe she was of age to consent, even if she thought she was).

Thank you! I made the change. Does anybody know which dorm each of them lived in? I have Ambler Johnston Hall highlighted on the map, I believe that is DE's dorm from early reports. Is that correct? Which dorm is NK in? I think it showed as her address on the arrest warrant, but now I can't find the warrants.

Link to map: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z2VLvG6QAl8U.ka7xd-tCxjMI&usp=sharing

Thank you for the map. The visuals are also so helpful when understanding the details of a case. Much appreciated.

DE did have sexual contact with NL. LE confirmed today.

Thank you. Yes, I had heard that already and that is why I said I believe that contact encounter was part of the plot to lure her into having a false sense of security about DE. He may have wanted oral sex from her and she may have complied thinking she was in love with him. Or the contact could have been only online with sexy photos and words exchanged back and forth.

What I am saying, all of it from beginning to end was a plot to murder and they both targeted Nicole. That is what I believe now until shown otherwise.

I think both of them are sociopaths and they started trolling for a victim and found Nicole.

Honestly, though, high achiever? A 3.29 GPA isn't that good. Not at all. The fact that she was in the top 15% of her class with that GPA kind of astounds me. I'm from Northern Virginia and if you want to be in the top 15% you need to have a 3.8, minimum.

Yeah, makes me wonder exactly what info is based on what NK says, and what is based on verified fact. If she was already needing a tutor for what should be some pretty basic math classes, that is not boding well for the next three years, where things get much, much more complex.

I went to a university that has just as well regarded engineering college as VT. I don't recall the first level calc. classes as anything baffling. P. Chem 402, THAT was baffling. Calc 102, comparative cake walk.

I can't be too harsh on NK's parents yet. I'm sure they're still in shock from all of this, probably in denial, everything likely feels surreal, they probably just want everything to feel the same as it always has. It's only been a few days since their life was turned upside down and it just seems to get worse by the day. I can't make any statements about what I would do in this situation except to say that I bet it feels a whole lot different to how you would have assumed it would feel while previously making "if it was me" statements.
They also wouldn't take the stand at a bond hearing and express remorse over the killing of Nicole while NK has made a not guilty plea. That would not be a logical approach by the defense, it may sound cold or harsh but that was not the time or place for that sort of discussion.

Regarding the friend of Nicole's reporting an inappropriate relationship to the resource officer. I certainly do believe this child (as evidenced by her facebook post calling Nicole out on this), but have a hard time believing a resource officer wouldn't respond to this. Wouldn't this be "child abuse" and he is a mandated reporter?

Her mother saw these same pictures. Even commented on a topless boy's picture asking who he was?

No that wasn't her mother. Her mother didn't comment that. I don't know who that woman is but I know of her mother through her work and this is not Nicole's mom. Yes she said "mother" but it was being sarcastic I believe.

So her dad is concerned that she doesn't have the right mattress, isn't getting gluten-free food, and could possibly get bullied because she is not street smart? I wonder if this girl grew up having no concept of what jail is.....

Bringing my last post from previous thread over:

Where is the crime scene I wonder?

Iirc it was said that she was killed on the university grounds. I assume NK must have told them that yet not told them exactly where? Because I have seen no reports about a section or room being taped off and forensic evidence being gathered.

Or maybe she was killed in the car while it was parked at campus? In which case the car would have been towed. No reports about that either.

Did they clean up so well after the stabbing that LE are not able to find the crime scene?

Or did I overlook something?

Two different reports out there. One said she was killed on campus at a pond then the other said she was killed at Craigs Creek. Then one of the new stations is saying they planned to dump the body at Craigs Creek so its anyone's guess I suppose.

It is possible that some of what NK and DE are now 'revealing' to LE has been carefully planned beforehand to confuse the investigation, so they can't be sure who actually did what, in the hopes for a hung jury.

The lawyer ought to have told the parents of the suspect to shut up, Imo. They are only making things worse, not garnering sympathy for their daughter at all. The lawyer could have said these same things and it would just produce eye-rolling. But from the father, it really is a bad idea. Makes the parents seem completely unsympathetic toward the victim. http://www.roanoke.com/news/crime/b...cle_c3087e38-4c85-5adf-b2c5-063176aa7462.html

During her testimony, Natalie Keepers said she graduated high school in the top 15 percent of her class with a 3.29 grade-point average.

3.29? So much for the "brilliant NASA intern" NG keeps describing. Perhaps she felt she had to live up to being an engineer like dad but couldn't live up to it. Doesnt explain/excuse murder but...

It reminds me of the prior murder case involving Don Morengello who was a retired NASA rocket scientist. He was so smart when he murdered his faithful wife that he threw the murder weapon into the water just 50 feet out from his own boat dock where they lived.

Yea the thrill would be in the actual kill not moving around a dead body! Doesn't it state "After DE picked up Nichole they went back VT campus to Keepers dorm room"? I'd be willing to bet ya NK was there for the ENTIRE THING!

The thoughts & opinions stated above are that, MY random thoughts & opinions.

If the murder took place on campus perhaps something was seen on security cameras? Whether it be the whole crime, parked car, them putting the body in the car I would assume VT would have multiple security cameras covering that campus.

Some law enforcement who didn't have permission to release info had confided in a reporter that explains some of this but its not allowed on here since that reporter is not with an agency. Still the same though it was a very interesting report when it came out.

Virginia Tech and other Virginia state schools can only take a certain number of students from each region. The competition in Northern VA is very fierce. We have extremely wealthy and high-achieving families here who have kids with ridiculously crazy "brag sheets" when they apply to college, insane SAT scores, every AP class available...a 3.29 in, say, Fairfax County, isn't going to get you into Tech unless you're literally a wizard or something. They probably had a better chance being out of state students. Being at a HS with less competition helped too, I'm sure.

I've lived in this area a long time. I am not part of the wealthy population out here. I graduated with a 3.0 and I didn't have a prayer getting into a lot of the state schools. The competition for everything here is rough. I don't know what kind of lives NK and DE led but it's sounding more and more like they were pampered brats just like, unfortunately, SO MANY people are raising in the DC area.

Good post. :) I should have added that my post was about an out of state school as well. Another local kid (local to us) also applied, with around the same GPA as NK, and they were offered a spot in a pre-engineering program at the school of arts and sciences but passed over for the school of engineering. I do realize every college is different as far as admissions go and I honestly don't know that much about US colleges since I didn't grow up here and had my education in Europe.

oh boo hoo :tantrum: she should have thought of that before he helped plan and execute the murder! :( :jail:
