NK's parents came off as 100% detached from what their daughter did. (and it's entirely possible they didn't know the details yet - sitting and planning for weeks and finally choosing to slit her throat - NK saying she was excited to be part of something secret, etc.)

Either they're completely nuts (which I seriously doubt) or they're in complete shock. I'm going with the latter. I can't even begin to imagine how I'd react if I found out my kid did something this evil.

I was thinking about that too. They obviously have talked to her or her lawyer re: medicine, mattress, etc but I'm sure they had no idea about all the details. The defense may not have either.

Oh, and if she doesn't have a dust mite mattress cover, she also doesn't have a bedbug cover. Bwahaha

Well - she did learn to love herself through counseling.

bbm - They could have released a statement before or after the hearing. I don't think anybody here expected it to be at the hearing. As it is they come across as uncaring, plain and simple.

I think it's entirely up to them. I'm sure their lawyers have advised against making any statements at this point - and I'm not going to judge them for that. Every part of it would be picked to pieces. If they make a statement when they are not ready to make a statement they'll probably still look uncaring.

Well I'm not going to laugh at the parents or make jokes because holy cow... imagine being in their shoes tonight?

I followed the Noelle case...

Now that you mention it...

I wonder if these two perps were on some type of fetish/dark website...

How ELSE does one find out that someone else has the same sick fantasies...

How does a convo like that even get started in a traditional social setting?

:dunno:

It certainly will be very interesting to know how far into the dark web these two went. Or if either one of them were into sadism.

I am also interested in knowing if they also went to sites that talk about serial killers in glowing terms as if they are heroes. Or even how to stab someone with a knife for it to be lethal. The internet is good for a lot of things but it has a lot of bad things that can be found on it as well even how to murder someone or how to troll for victims.

I think LE will get the mother lode on these two when they delve into their computers closely. They said DE stayed in his room a lot and I bet most of the time he was on the web probably up to no good.

I agree. That and they were probably coached by the defense attorneys about what to say. I'm also pretty sure the attorneys would have quit on the spot if the parents had apologized for what NK did, since like it or not, she's innocent until proven guilty in court. I can't fault the parents for their behavior in any way, right now. We'll see again further down the road.... I'm reserving my judgment until there's been sufficient time for the shock to wear off.

Not apologize. Express condolences. It's the right thing to do when someone loses a child. Always.

I agree they are in shock and probably are living in a complete fog and unable to concentrate. But, the lawyers should've curtailed the father from complaining about prison conditions today. Those comments were really unfortunately timed.

And as for expressing sympathies to Nicole's family, that would've been entirely appropriate. One sentence to express condolences does not imply guilt by their daughter and might even have helped cast more favorable light.

I think the bond request was a tactical error, though of course, I totally understand wanting to get your child out of jail.

I agree with this, as well. It would have been nice. A short "shocked and saddened" type statement would suffice. And they do come across that way - but that does not have to mean they actually are uncaring. Their true character will come out later, IMO.

Very interesting discussion folks! I love to hear all your different takes on the case, the perps, the parents, etc. Great community! Thank you!

I gotta go now, see you all tomorrow :)

Yes. That is 100% true.

Maybe because the school has a policy that she's an adult and can see a dr/get drugs for conditions that the family does not have to be told about. Maybe they had absolutely no idea she was depressed.

could be that her parents particularly her father would see depression as a weakness. It wasn't allowed. I have heard of it.. smh

BAE literally stands for Before Anyone Else, so it refers to who you put "before anyone else" It's now used to describe anything not just people. For example, you might see someone post "McDonald's is BAE"

David and Natalie met at a bbq and planned the killing that day? Listening to HLN.

It's Cookout Restaurant. A popular hangout for the college kids

Huh. Really? And here I was thinking it was just short for babe/baby.

I guess that would have been too simple!

Okay, that helps. I thought they met at a BBQ, as in a party. If they met at a restaurant, it sounds more deliberate than just casually chatting at a party and then planning a crime together.

I'm wondering if they found each other online and then formed a friendship. They have known each other before plotting Nicole's murder as DE helped NK last fall when she had an appendectomy.

I don't know what to think about her, she's a complete mystery to me. Not knowing all that much about DE I'd think he'd be less likely to be going on a killing spree - I think he killed her in a total panic about the rest of his life. He got himself into it, he's guilty of what she was about to accuse him publicly of, so he's in it up to his neck but at least he had a definable motive besides pleasure killing.

I don't think there is any evidence that she was going to expose him for anything. She was happy and excited to be going on a date with him, so much so, she just had to tell the twins about it. Nicole seemed thrilled to know he was picking her up.

I don't think this has anything to do with exposing DE. That makes no sense with NKs involvement starting on Jan 4th and ending the day she was murdered.

I think this was a thrill kill thought up by two evil people who trolled for a victim and selected Nicole.

IMO

That's true too.

Well it's actually the Danish word for poop! But yes some use it for baby or babe as well.[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Right. If they started plotting this on January 4th because Nicole 'threatened to expose their relationship' then they took a mighty big risk waiting so long to silence her, if that's what the object was. They had no way of knowing if Nicole in between hadn't told someone and it would be too late. I think it's a load of bull puckey and they're basically blaming Nicole for bringing this onto herself by being the one to put the pressure on and they couldn't handle it and panicked and silenced her. Baloney. If that's what truly happened the murder wouldn't have been plotted and planned for weeks in advance.
