"Eisenhauer, 20, of Columbia, Maryland, is charged with first-degree murder, abduction and concealing a body."

http://www.roanoke.com/news/crime/b...cle_7e7c18ee-fa6b-5366-b66d-91ed62e27318.html

I think concealing a body is the only charge that should surely stick. The murder charge we will have to see how well the defense can implicate Keepers. The abduction charge - I'm sure they will argue that NL went willingly to meet DE. jmo

Thank you for the reminder of the charges.

She was underage, so that might factor in with the abduction charge. You can't just take a kid climbing out her window at midnight, even if she was agreeable.

Yes, concealing a body is also strong.

I have been wondering if that Bryce Dustin guy is going to testify against D.E.If you don't remember him he is the guy D.E came to for advice on how to get Nicole to stop contacting him, He told D.E just to ignore her and he later texted him on where to hide a dead body.

Bolded by me

I remember the first part of what you posted, but not the last sentence. Possible I forgot that telling detail. Can you provide a source for it?

For those who don't remember the person mentioned, here's a link and quote from the link: http://triblive.com/usworld/world/1...id-eisenhauer-to-go-on-trial-in-girls-killing
"Bryce Dustin, a friend of Eisenhauer, told The Roanoke Times that Eisenhauer texted him about meeting a teenage girl at a party and later learning she was underage. Dustin said Eisenhauer was afraid the girl would 'expose' him and asked if he knew where he could hide a body."

Nothing mentioned that BD gave advice on what to do with a body - but clue me in if I'm missing something!

So we all know the Defense is going to spin this. Keepers being the killer etc. etc. I'm sure there is much more evidence against DE and I do believe he is the killer. Yet there is no way the Defense can explain DE's DNA under Nicole's fingernails. Unless she scratched him during the quick little side hug. Not!!!!!

Read all the texting evidence the state will present. Nah, DE isn't going to get away with murder. His life will be behind bars. Defense is doing their job, trying to plant reasonable doubt but they are going to have to work for their money if that works. Way too much evidence left behind. Evidence that can't be explained away.

bbm Yes you're right. I wasn't thinking. So he should definitely be convicted of these two charges (abduction, concealment of a body).

And Nicole's address on a piece of paper and the Walmart receipt in DE's dorm.

No, not too bright.

I think Eisenhauer thought he could outsmart investigators. Also at one point his roommate said he left the dorm wearing boots and did not return until 2 AM. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/nicole-lovell-murder-killer-app-smartphone-stranger-danger/ When I saw the shovel today unwrapped, I thought I was going to see something like a snow shovel. Instead it looked to me like a square digging shovel.

I think he intended to bury his victim, but then could not dig with the square digging shovel. Then he decided to get NL to help move the body from outside of Blacksburg to right over the North Carolina border.

If this isn't an open and shut case, I don't know what is.

Oops, I meant to say NK, not NL.

Here is what the shovel seemed to look like to me https://www.homedepot.com/p/Seymour...MI1aTjhMeV2QIVEJl-Ch2qlgXjEAQYAyABEgJxSPD_BwE

I believe there will be enough evidence to put DE away for murder IMO. I think if the prosecution attorney makes it clear in the closing statements that noone is saying that Natalie keepers is not involved in the murder, but this trial is about DE and his evolvement, the jury should be able to see that DE did murder Nicole.
From my point of view DE thought Nicole's murder would never be connected back to him, and that is why he didn't bother to get rid of any of the incriminating evidence in the car. Why would he need to bother to throw a perfectly good shovel or GPS system away or bother throwing out the rest of the cleaning supplies which were left over. He thought he was so much smarter than LE that he was wrapped up in a false sense of security.
He is the ultimate poster boy for cocky, self assured dimwit. IMO

He deserves everything that's coming to him for taking advantage of a young girl who he was probably happy abusing until she dared threaten him with exposure. He may have been used to getting everything his own way in life and poor Nicole didn't stand a chance.
All my own opinions and rambling.

Detective Mike Czernicki with the Blacksburg Police Department testified that he found paper towels, clothing and blood in the trunk of Eisenhauer's Lexus.

He said they recovered several items including shoes from the defendant that was covered with blood. Photos of the trunk and the car were entered into evidence.

Czernicki said there was also a mask, a cap and sneakers (that became of interest later on in the investigation) inside the trunk.

His shoes covered with blood, more strong evidence against him. Interested to see what will be of interest with the sneakers.

So not important in the grand scheme of this horrific murder, but DE lived in Maryland and attended high school there. Yet his checkbook had a Galax address (I'm assuming his grandparents'). Was he trying to game instate tuition rates for Virginia Tech?

Update from late yesterday afternoon:

3:25 p.m.:
Defense attorneys began showing pictures of a suitcase found in Natalie Keepers’ dorm. Czernicki said they were not ones he took. Prosecutors objected to the pictures being shown and there was a brief recess. When court returned, the defense showed a picture of a piece of evidence that was the suitcase wrapped in brown paper. Following pictures showed a navy blue suitcase. Blood was spotted on the zipper of the suitcase. Inside is a minions blanket with blood stains. Nicole Lovell’s mother said earlier in testimony that that blanket was missing from her daughter’s room. A stick fragment and women’s underwear as well as a towel with a strong cleaning agent smell were in the bag Czernicki said. A picture of a sock is shown with what Czernicki says also has a blood stain on it. A stack of 48 used cleaning wipes were photographed after being removed from this duffle/gym bag. Czernicki pointed out blood stains throughout the bag. A closer image of the stick from the bag also had blood stains on it and a hair fragment, the detective says.
Discussion went back to the shovel, at this point it’s laying on the witness stand in front of Czernicki. He points out a bloody palm print on the shovel handle. He says the shovel was sent for forensic testing. Tony Anderson lists multiple items that weren’t examined, like hair and fiber from the Eisenhauer’s Lexus.
Czernicki says he was with the Assistant Medical Examiner Gayle Suzuki when she performed the autopsy on Nicole Lovell.

4:00 p.m.:
Michael Via from the Blacksburg police takes the stand. He was assigned to go to a crime scene on Craig Creek Road on January 31st 2016. He testifies that he went to the road with an evidence collection team with the FBI to take possession of evidence that was collected at that scene.

Thanks for the recap! You're so good. :)

Bolded by me bits:

48 used cleaning wipes? Why the heck didn't they at least throw those away? I really do think NK liked the process of making and keeping a collection of this stuff.

And...why weren't hair and fiber from the Lexus examined? That seems odd to me.

more from yesterday to end the day:

The last witness called to testify by the commonwealth Wednesday was John Singleton, a special agent with Virginia State Police high-tech crime division.

Singleton testified he recovered data from a Garmin-brand GPS device found in David Eisenhauer’s car and given to him by a Blacksburg police department.

Singleton said he was able to triangulate where the device had been around the time Nicole Lovell went missing.

The court has declared a recess for the day. Day four of the trial will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday.

GPS power point shows it starts at Virginia Tech campus, traveling to the Target and then the WalMart in Christiansburg before heading to Nicole Lovell's neighborhood and then a wooded area of U.S. 460 west on Jan. 28, 2016.

First witness to the stand is an intelligence analyst with the Blacksburg police department who downloaded GPS data from Virginia State Police. She created a power-point presentation showing the movement of the device during the time Lovell went missing.

Turk to the bench. Eisenhauer enters the room in a checkered tie and blue blazer. Fingers crossed and face emotionless, he acknowledges the jury with a nod as they enter.
