Living in PA, everyone has a gun. Now my tiny town is also drug infested thanks to Pittsburgh.
Could an accident occurred the evening before?
Last Noah was seen at Walmart was the evening before.
Any proof he was alive that morning?
The only story I have read is the mom's account of what happened.
Has father said anything?
Aunt & Uncle talking about what a sweetie Noah was.
What is the neighborhood like?
Is that section of own known to be safe?

“You don’t get into a septic tank by accident. Someone’s going to pay,” Jason Thomas, Noah’s uncle, said.

Good grief...unless he knows what he is talking about, this is uncalled for at this point.
But-I do agree that someone has to be responsible for this septic tank, be it the landowner, parent, etc...you just can't be this careless (if Noah managed to lift lid himself). Totally unacceptable...not much different from leaving a loaded gun around, Imo, with little kids nearby.

"Davis had previously said that Noah was in school on Friday, and video surveillance shows the family out in public on Saturday evening." In the beginning it was said he was last seen on video with the mother and sister when she was taking the Dad to work Sunday morning. So now how could he have been put in a tank between two houses in the daylight? This is the problem at the beginning there's information in timelines and such that change a number of days in, so sometimes you have to change your perspective on what could've happened.

I thought they said early on that they had verified what he was wearing because of surveillance cameras in a store on Sunday morning, right?

Thank you for your kindness. I do agree there is a difference but I know that I am not the only parent on here that has fallen asleep while their kids are awake and not the only one that was prob hurt by how some of the posts were written thats why I shared my experience. As a side note, I have worked in child protective services for many years after graduating college (i left bc the system is so messed up and it became too much after I had kids) and we received calls every day about parents who would be knocked out for hours on end, or just left young kids home alone for hours, but most, if not all, of those cases I got involved substance abuse and were prosecuted by the courts.

I'm sorry that anyone here has felt hurt or judged after reading these threads. I can understand how easily it happens though. Many of us speak from a place of anger or after becoming jaded without thought to how cruel our words may be perceived. I have 2 red headed nieces that are close to Noah in age and I've taken custody of them more than once due to their mom's drug use and neglect so this case hit home (it's local too). The girls often have to get themselves up and ready for school alone and I can't count the number of times they've been returned to the school of the evening because nobody was at the bus stop to meet them and district rules say they can't be left otherwise. It is difficult for me to look at a young child being unattended for up to 3 hours and not become angry. I do hate that I may have allowed that anger to hurt fellow posters though. We are all here for the same reason and nobody deserves to be hurt while trying to help.

That's what i thought and heard at first, now that's changed to Saturday evening.

I can see falling asleep in SOME circumstances. My daughter was 4 and my son was 1, I was terribly sick, my DH was sick, and I had been up all night with the 1 year old who decided not to sleep. I took my kids and went into my daughter's room (completely baby safe), put up a baby gate AND closed the door. Then I set my alarm for 10 minutes and fell asleep on the floor for those 10 minutes until my alarm woke me up (with the phone alarm actually touching my ear so that there was no chance I'd sleep through). Then, got them what they needed and made sure everyone was fine, then did it again. I'm sure that's pathetic sounding and I'm sure it looked even worse, but you do what you have to sometimes.

So I'm not sure we should judge the mother just yet. You just never know what precautions she did or didn't take. Maybe Noah climbed the baby gate, unlocked the front door, etc. You just never know. From what info has been given, it certainly does make it sound like the TV was on and he was able to do whatever he wanted for several hours, but we really don't know that right now.

My daughter couldn't be less "independent", in that she'd never go outside by herself. My son though, would be out the door the second he got a chance, so now that he's getting more capable, there is no way I'd even do now what I posted above.

Again though, I'm just not seeing this as an accident, though anything is possible I suppose. Wonder where exactly the septic tank is (the opening I mean)... Could it be easily accessible by neighbors on the same property?

Courtneyb,

can you find out from your cousin if she knows anything about the type of septic tank in the yard? I am very puzzled by why it took LE so long to check the septic tank.

One of my kids would wake up in the middle of the night and wander around the house, usually ending up in our bed. I showered with her in the bathroom with the door latched so she couldn't get out. The other one would sit unmoving in front of the TV long enough for me to shower or nap on the couch or make dinner. As someone said on the last thread, we know our kids' capabilities and can predict their behavior until something changes to show us we have to rethink. Most of us are lucky enough for that "something" to be relatively minor. There's no difference between us and the parents whose "something" is fatal except we're lucky. Obviously that doesn't include outright neglect (which to me is a long way removed from a catnap with the baby while your child is watching cartoons) or other clearly harmful behavior, but so far we haven't heard any evidence of that yet.

I'll wait and see what comes out of this. Very interested to hear the poster's cousin's take on it as that will be the closest if allowed to real info.

I actually have a picture of the area of the yard where the septic tank is located... It was pointed out to her when she was living there. The grass is high in that area, but you can see a white pvc pipe coming out of the ground near where the cover was in the ground. She said that as late as November/December, that there was a cover on the septic tank, and it had not been uncovered at any point while she lived there. And that there was never any smell. She and her 2 girls are very outdoorsy and explored the yard and surrounding area extensively. She was told, and I stress that she was told, but does not have first hand knowledge, that both the septic tank and a small pond on the property had been checked the first day.

I have a 3 year old, 2 year old, and 8 month old. I have held my tongue on some of the comments but I have had enough. I have zero help with my kids and my husband just had back surgery so he's not much help. We moved recently and have no family around. I had a bad case of the flu and fell asleep on our couch in our living room that has gates up at both entrances while the baby was napping in his bassinet and my two youngest were running around next to me. I consider myself a very vigilant parent, not a helicopter parent but a vigilant one, and I fell asleep as much as I tried not to. All the caffeine in the world couldn't keep me awake. I was asleep for prob 45 mins but according to some of you on here I should be in jail for child neglect. I think we should stop judging each other. There's enough "mommy wars" in everyday life do we really need it on this forum when all of the facts haven't come out yet?

Thank you for sharing this. I know of no perfect parent and have wished for a "do over" moment many times. I am not going to criticize the mom for falling asleep, because there for the grace of God go I. IMO
Glass houses...

@KSuri: Head of search team tells me that yard was "searched many, many times" in days preceding #NoahThomas body being found in septic tank

@KSuri: @trialjunkie yes checked yard multiple times. Will not reveal if lid was on or off or if there even IS a lid. Trust me I'm asking!

I believe this is a ABC reporter

I'm puzzled about this type of septic tank. If the lid is made of plastic, it seems like it would be easy for anyone to lift if it isn't secured with screws. It scares me to even think of the dangers this could present.

She was told, and I stress that she was told, but does not have first hand knowledge, that both the septic tank and a small pond on the property had been checked the first day.

I've also read searchers saying the same thing, and it would be standard procedure LE would do that in an investigation like this after searching the property over three times, as the Sheriff said. Multiple agencies have been involved from the beginning days, and they parked right there. So I'm wondering, why was it yesterday they decided to look in the tank, something changed. IMO

  • #376
I have read that it was checked the first two days.

  • #377
Was it yesterday the reward was offered?

  • #379
Yes and they found Noah shortly after it was offered.
