"CHILHOWIE, Va. – An Endangered Missing Child Alert has been issued for a 15-year-old girl who is believed to be in danger.

Paige Meckenzie Allen was last seen at 124 Eller Avenue in Chilhowie, Virginia, Wednesday.

She is described as a white female, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 135 pounds and has blue eyes and red hair. Police have not given a description of what she was last wearing."

UPDATE: Virginia Endangered Missing Child Alert cancelled for missing 15-year-old
Virginia State Police have cancelled the Virginia Endangered Missing Child Alert for a missing 15-year-old out of Chilhowie, Va.

They say this is "in accordance with the allotted time period for this type of alert."

Police say Paige M. Allen is still missing and efforts to find her are ongoing.

Chilhowie police ended their three-month search for a missing teenager after she was found safe last week.

Fifteen-year-old Paige Meckenzie Allen was reported missing May 30. She was found Thursday evening in an abandoned home on Rivermont Drive in Meadowview.

That's what I thought at first, but I checked all the links posted and I can't see a date when she was last seen, just the location. Also, in the article I linked it says that the alert issued in August was in order to "help bolster efforts to locate Allen" as she had been missing for a while. I took that to mean that she had already been missing for a while. I may be wrong, though, it wouldn't be the first time.

Charged with abduction as a result of the investigation is 45-year-old Lee Roy VanMeter, of Meadowview. VanMeter is being held without bond at the regional jail in Abingdon while he awaits a preliminary hearing in Washington County Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court Oct. 16.

News 5 has learned Leroy VanMeter was sentenced to 1,200 years in prison on 73 felony charges including abduction, indecent liberties with a child and production of child , as well as drug charges.
