I'm local as well; I haven't heard an update since they stated the phone pinged in WV. I also found it unusual it took so long to report him missing. I looked at the Newkirk St area online and there are very few homes there; I hope law enforcement went and interviewed the folks.

This is so odd... There is very, very little media about this case.... I am glad to see his case on here... Maybe you all/we can get something going. Why no searches? No clue if he's missing voluntarily? Makes me wonder if he went off the road in the hilly, mountainous area. No real info out there from wife (that I've seen) if anyone knows where he was headed. Odd too about the phone supposedly pinging in West Virginia.

Looking online... It's only 28 miles from Bland, VA to Princeton, WV on Rt 77 (a major interstate). Of course, he could have taken back roads.....

Unicorn... Since you're local... If you were to drive to Princeton, WV, are there other, scenic routes to take, besides 77? Thanks.

I'm local also and I believe you can take US-52 most all the way between bland and princeton

So, if you were to drive it, for the scenic view, would you drive on 52? Is it hilly, curvy (many places to look if he went off the road???)

I cannot believe how quiet this case is!!!!

I don't know them, but I've looked at both of their Facebook pages (him and his wife)

Yes its hilly and curvy. I've only driven it once on that part and it's back in the middle of nowhere (which bland already is).

So, both of you.... What are people locally saying and thinking? Accident? He left?

I haven't heard a peep. I live about 10 minutes away in the next town over and the only thing I saw was an article written by our local newspaper and nothing else. I haven't even seen Facebook shares of the missing poster or anything.

Hoping he shows up safe and sound today.

Im also local.. There are several back roads to get to Princeton from Bland, totally bypassing the interstate.... It's just extremely quiet.. I've heard of one missing poster being up in town, otherwise, absolutely nothing..

I find it very odd his fb profile was created in July only a few weeks before he went missing and his only friend is his wife - no kid or other family on it. There are numerous scenic drives from Bland Co to Princeton - from where he lives he could’ve easily got on Rt 16, 52 or even 42 to 100...tons of possibilities. We’re a very rural area with tons of back roads. Rumor has it the bike doesn’t even belong to him but I cannot confirm. Also the statement in the paper regarding him telling a neighbor he was going for a ride was from the wife’s mouth.

Also, one more thing - if you go to the wife’s fb page you’ll see a photo of him and he looks quite frail - I’m not sure if that picture or the one in the missing poster is accurate because I’ve never met him. I also believe he may go by Dick rather than Richard based upon fb comments.

I noticed the difference in the pics of him on the missing poster and on FB. Big difference. I was also surprised at the type of bike he was riding. Usually older gentlemen prefer a different kind of bike... Gold Wing, or bigger Harley. This is sure an odd case...

True that, not very often you associate a senior with a crotch rocket.
