A Prince William County judge granted bond for a murder suspect charged in a 14-year-old missing person case.

Judge James Willett didn’t cite his reasoning on Wednesday when he approved a $50,000 bond for 43-year-old Timothy Hickerson, who is charged with second-degree murder in the disapearance of Shane Donahue. Hickerson must wear a GPS monitoring device, stay in Virginia, live with his parents in Prince William County, cannot possess guns or illegal narcotics and must stay away from all witnesses in the trial.

Shane lived down the street from me and was friends with my sister. His parents had a huge banner in their yard counting the days he has been missing, it was heartbreaking seeing that number rise year after year and even more heartbreaking for his family. Hickerson has ALWAYS been a POI and finally PWC has what they need to arrest him, extradite him and charge him…then he’s granted bail?!?! .I don’t understand, am I missing something?!?! He was denied bail Nov 4 because the judge thought he’d be a flight risk!! He will flee again!!! They cannot let him get away again!

PWC police recently searched the home of someone local in regards to this case. I can tell you that it was stated that an arrest is imminent.
I believe the home searched was that of Dusty Cornwell. He committed suicide and left a note that explained alot in regards to the death of Shane. He couldn't live with the guilt anymore. Unfortunately his family is not saying what details were in the note, only that it was in regards to Shane. A week after his death Timmy was arrested, so must've been something concrete in the note.

Details of Disappearance

Donahue was last seen leaving his parents' residence in the 14000 block of Aden Road in Nokesville, Virginia at 3:45 p.m. on March 22, 2010. He and a friend, Timothy Sean Hickerson, left in a Hickerson Brothers Electric box truck. They were supposed to be going to Donahue's own home in the 12000 block of Aden Road. He has never been heard from again.

On the day he went missing, Donahue had been paid $5,000 for some work he'd done. He paid Hickerson $1,000 for helping him with the work. The two men were in frequent contact in the weeks before Donahue's disappearance, calling each other as many as twenty times a day. Donahue had sold the prescription painkiller Oxycontin to Hickerson, and Hickerson owed him money.

Hickerson was subsequently sent to prison for four years for burglarizing into two local gun stores. He was the last person known to have been with Donahue, and he admitted to the police that he burglarized Donahue's home just days before Donahue went missing and stole pills.

In September 2024, Hickerson was charged with first-degree murder in Donahue's case. In May 2025, he was additionally charged with concealment of a dead body. A photo of him is posted with this case summary. He is awaiting trial.

Donahue has ties to northern Virginia (particularly Fauquier County), Washington D.C., and Baltimore, Maryland. He didn't have access to a vehicle at the time of his disappearance and frequently got rides from friends to get places. His cellular phone has been turned off since the day of his disappearance. Foul play is suspected in his case due to the circumstances involved.
