GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

I wonder if it was a little boy or a little girl? I wonder if this baby ever had a name? I wonder if it wasn't neglected too?

I hope the judge is paying attention to what is happening in this case. And I hope he gives them a lot of time. Because of them one child is dead, another will suffer lifelong disabilities. And the third will someday learn of his parents. Who knows how that will affect him.

He was a boy.
He had a name.
The third child/2nd boy, was named after the 2nd child/1st boy.
The third child was lucky enough to be born after they were married.
So he was allowed to live and be cared for. :furious:

The link is not far above.

Just wanted to give some readers/followers of this case some information I received as a local.

Sunny has been formally adopted by the people who initially took her in as a foster child. She no longer lives in this area. I'm not sure how many are familar with some metal cribs in pediatric wards but when she was in Children's Hopsital of King's Daughters they unfortunately had to put in her a crib with a top-she would leave her area and eat anything she could get her hands on. They eventually got her into a regular bed/crib. The defense wanted Sunny to testify or at least appear in court because she is a bit on the plump side now, which they felt like would show she was "healthy". She does have developmental delays and gets extensive assistance to assist with that. She gets frustrated with communication and does have some behavioral issues because of that. Her new mother refuses to let her be exploited in any way, and is quite protective of her. The baby that was removed from the home at the same time was also adopted out after refusing to let the grandparents have custody or visitation. Both parents are stripped of parental rights. I dont have any information on him other than that.

So it looks like she will have some type of chance at normalcy and he has a better start that any of them ever had. I think about them often especially since I still live within eyesight of where their home stood.

Thank you jinxy, it is good to know she has a forever family and they are so protective of her. She needs that. She went far to long without anyone even acknowledging her existence so I makes me happy to know someone cares for her, worries for her, protects her.

That article mentioned this again:

Brian, then 29, and Shannon, then 24, told deputies their daughter, born in 2004, had Down syndrome and cerebral palsy, and had been locked up because she was disruptive.

Did we ever hear if that was true or not? Jinxy, did you hear anything as a local?

The parents of a girl kept in a makeshift cage for as much as several years were each sentenced to 30 years in prison on Monday in Gloucester County Circuit Court.

Brian Gore and Shannon Gore will receive credit for time served — a little more than two years — after Judge R. Bruce Long sentenced them to 10 years in prison on child abuse convictions and 20 years in prison on aggravated malicious wounding convictions.

They should also make these two get "fixed" so that they will never have any more children!!! I know that they will be old enough that they shouldn't have any, but ... GRRRRRRR These two make me absolutely sick!

shoulda been sentenced to life because child abuse and neglect leave life long scars on children.

in addition we will never know what the first little boy who was buried beneath the she died from but its dollars to donuts that child did not die a natural death. Unless neglect and starvation are considered natural.

MOO

Now, both Brian and Shannon Gore are charged with felony homicide and felony child neglect in the death of Connor.

“The Grand Jury for Gloucester met on May 5, 2014 and was presented evidence in support of the charges,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Holly Smith said in a release. “The charges are a result of additional information received about the remains of the child found buried under the shed.”

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

YES! These people should never ever see the light of day, be allowed to reproduce again. They SHOULD be caged, starved to the point of eating their own feces for a few years and then summarily shot. But I will settle for them never ever getting out.

Thank you grand jury. I WILL be following this as it goes through trial and sentencing for the charges relating to Connor.

So leased to read this update - thank you cocomod!

I too am glad these 2 have been charged with murder! I am curious what evidence LE has and I hope the charge sticks. Praying for justice for Connor!

Sorry cocomod - I couldn't get the link you posted above to connect but I found another link from 6/2014. Gore's are now facing new homicide charges for the death of the infant boy (7 mo old) found buried under their shed.

"While Gloucester prosecutors would not confirm what new information led to the charges, NewsChannel 3 did confirm the boy’s remains were sent to the Smithsonian to help determine how he died."

Here is another news report (from 5/27/2014) with video and an interview with the Maternal Grandmother to "Sunshine", Connor 1 & 2.

Me, too, Tlcya...this case happened near where my sister lived at the time and I just couldn't fathom it. No one knowing about the woman's pregnancies, etc. I prayed for this little girl often and still pray for her as I think of her to this day. Even though the experts and statistics say she will never live a normal life, I pray fervently that she will be raised by someone who will be patient and loving with her, and take the time to help her become more than anyone ever expected. I would love to see an article one day recounting her triumphs and victories in life.

Whoever she turns out to be, whatever her abilities allow her in life, I wish her to experience joy, comfort, and peace. The more the better, but even if infrequently, you know . . .

Yeah, Sunny (A) occupies a place in my soul.
