VA VA- Unidentified 12-year-old abducted in Spotsylvania, 4 July 2013

For the record, even though they have called off the search, they are obviously still taking this case very seriously. After already speaking to one person today, I got another call back from a lead detective within the hour.

Its posted upstream...(looking for link). Heljena had linked an article mentioning a prior attempted abduction describing a light blue work van and possible hispanic male. Thought it was worth phoning in just in case.

The news at 6 didn't mention anything in relation to this case only about the 7yr old missing in DC. Nothing new on that case.

I don't think it is related. They are saying it is an apparent suicide.

Sorry, but who goes on vacation and leaves their 12 year old home alone? Not buying it. :moo:
I don't see an Amber Alert issued for a dad , stepdad, whomever... for getting his son in a vehicle.
My gut tells me this is a real abduction. A very scary situation.

But...since there is no child being reported, nobody can verify that it was just his dad or whatever.

If it was a real abduction, shouldn't there be a report by now? This happened THURSDAY afternoon!

I have been more or less lurking on this particular thread. Life has just been a bit hectic with summer..blah blah blah. Then I read this and woah..I live here..in VA Beach. I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

I also have a friend who lives in Spotsy, and she has been following this abduction mystery as well.

It is hard to believe that a kidnapper would PLAN to do an abduction in broad daylight while driving a SKY BLUE van. That makes me think it was a parental or domestic situation.

A Sky blue van would be VERY easy to paint over. Snatch the child, bring van home, pant it whatever color you want. The sky blue would be like a primer to bring out a richer dark color. Dark blue or green, perhaps.

Here is what worries me. Let's say a single mom has a Restraining Order out on her ex, and he is lurking outside her home, stalking her. And he watches as his/her son leaves the home with a bicycle, which he is taking to the gas station to fill the tires w.air.

So after the boy leaves the stalker goes in and assaults/ties up/disposes of the mother.
Then he chases after the boy, leaving the bike behind. Maybe nobody will report the mom being missing until she misses work tomorrow?

I was wondering if it might have been a primer coat, and was in the process of being painted. Good point.

Hey guys, sorry for taking so long to get back here, it's been a crazy day.

So it looks like the boy is most likely not him. I found out earlier that since the separation they've been living in another town over an hour away. We contacted LE in the area they are living in now just to have someone check on them (because none of us have heard from her in a few days and she's not responding to texts, etc.) but they don't seem to be taking it seriously. We still haven't heard anything from LE or her at this point. I'm worried but I don't know what else to do.

As for this boy...all these reports of similar abductions/attempted abductions are really scary! Hopefully there's news soon.

I would say that until someone reliable actually lays eyes on your little cousin I wouldn't rule him out as the kidnapped boy. The police in the hour away town don't gave the same stake in this case as the police in Spotsylvania do. Its a shame they seemed lackadaisical about checking on him. Did you notify Spotsy PD as well? They could make sure the other PD does more than knock on the door and take someone's word for it that the boy is okay.

Do people from that town travel back to Spotsylvania to shop? I know that a Super Walmart always attracts shoppers from smaller towns up to An hour and a half away where one is mot available.

One thing Ive learned is that people who have something to hide are incredible good at lying about where they live or work or who they associate with. Not saying thats happening here but when a childs life us at stake you cant be too careful!
