It's frustrating because if someone (say a teen) goes missing and two weeks later they find a body, within 24-48 hours they have a dental comparison ID and it's done.

Someone goes missing for years and put on a website, and it takes 6-9 months to compare dental or fingerprint records.. seems odd.

Of course, I'm on the outside looking in, but it's almost like if it's not a "hot" case then it just gets put on the back burner.. those families are still hurting everyday too..

imo

When I say 6-9 months this is what I refer to. I did not say this would take that long IDK it is not my place to question the Det or the ME office.

1. dna is it avaiable or is it going to be have to be collected?
2. Fingerprints if they are not avaiable will they have to be tracked down. Have they been distroyed? Have they been archived?
3. Dental recods how old are they where are they. Have they got to be found is the dentist still in business?

There are allot of things that come into play when you are working with a Doe case in which is a few years old.

I haven't contacted anyone outside of LE. Don't worry.

I don't understand it either, but if the one print doesn't match then we look elsewhere. If it does, then I imagine LE will have to try to get a relative of KB to give DNA to try to match.

Anyone know if his family has been looking for him?

Don't tell anyone about the solvent/paint stripper thing, perps may start to use that method!

I could be wrong about this, but I thought you only needed one print to make a match.

If the fingerprints match, there wouldn't be any need to do DNA testing.

Nope. The Virginia Beach UID had a left-slant loop on the coded finger, that is all they chose to release. A lot of people probably have a left-slant loop on that finger. I think it is just a shorter way to search, since many older prints are still on cards. You just look for all the cards with an LS code for the appropriate finger, and then search those further. Some people have the idea that a giant computer matches the prints (OK now they probably do it that way). But what they initially match is the letter codes, then someone looks at the prints. Why they only list the code for one finger I don't know. Maybe VB LE wants to make sure that someone looking into this from the MP end contacts them, and withholding some of the prints would do that. Wish I had an answer.

Interesting that toe prints are also unique and some people are footprinted (military pilots that I know of).

Does anyone know of a reason for KB to disappear like that? Anything unusual occur at the casino about that time? (treading carefully here)

We haven't heard, to my knowledge... however I thought it was telling that he left his uniform in the car before disappearing. I don't think someone who was abducted, murdered, or even committed suicide would have taken the time to remove his work uniform.

imo

I've been trying to google KB to find news articles surrounding his disappearance and I've found nothing but the standard blurb.

Me too astridxx ... I guess it doesn't matter why as long as he's found. Maybe the family will find our posts here and try to move this along. One way or the other .. they deserve closure .. and if it's not KB then TWO families deserve closure.

imo

Some suicidal people are more organized (the Jane Doe in the cemetery, for instance) and take care of details like that. But I don't think it applies in this case. I generally agree that in this case, I don't see much evidence of anything but leaving to start over.

Hopefully the VBPD has already checked that outlet. But IMO judging by the statistics given he wasn't fit for military service.

Nope, it sure doesn't sound like it to me, but I wanted to post the link somewhere it could be found :p
