Sorry if this has been discussed, I know he killed himself, but I believe I heard he shot himself in the face. Can anyone verify this for me please?

I can't give you a link but yes I did read/hear that numerous times.

Thanks ~ I was just about to post that. They're also showing it on msnbc-tv. This guy wasn't "depressed" imo. He was of the same genre as Kleibold, Harris, and the DC snipers. :furious:

So you feel the same? I'm super angry.

That's what was reported yesterday. Fingerprints used for ID.

Nightly News is going to reveal the information that was mailed to them. That's at 6:30 pm, Eastern, in case anyone is interested.

Oh yes ~ I have been :furious: since last night about this guy and how no one could intervene (like that professor who was disturbed by his writings), like if they did, nothing would be done. And I'm still  about him being able to buy two guns with a "green card".

Yes, thank you, I'm anxious to see this.

Me too. It's like reading Stephen Grant's confession. The IrishMister thought it was crazy, but to me it's like a glimpse into the mind of a killer. I think it's really interesting.

This is an interesting in the latest MSNBC article:

Gunman sent package to NBC News
Rambling communication, videos mailed between shootings, network says

I haven't heard anyone else mention this:

"Police searched Cho’s dorm room Tuesday and recovered, among other items, a chain and a combination lock, according to documents filed Wednesday. The front doors of Norris Hall, the classroom building, had been chained shut from the inside during the shooting rampage.

Other items that were seized included a folding knife; two computers, a hard disk and other computer disks; documents, books, notebooks and other writings; a digital camera; compact disks; and two Dremel tools, which are rotating tools used for cutting, sanding and other applications.

In an affidavit seeking the search warrant, police found a “bomb threat” note — directed at engineering school buildings — near the victims in the classroom building. In the past three weeks, Virginia Tech had received two other bomb threats; investigators said they had not connected those to Cho."

Yes, i thought it was him about the bomb threats and thought he was testing security on the campus.

all the stuff they found costs money: where did that come from?

Should it be aired though? By airing it is that not doing exactly what he wanted? Is it not giving him the stage that he was seeking when he mailed it to NBC?
Don't get me wrong, I like many others, want to read every word and see what the pictures are....but should it be aired?

I posted a link to the actual search warrant but I think it got lost in the shuffle, these threads are going so fast.

Oh yes, I read that too! It's better than just "reports" from people who think they knew the person especially when trying to figure out what would make someone do such a horrible thing. This guy probably thought he was the Unabomber sending the media this "manifesto". Totally  .

I'm in college and lived in a college(university of kentucky) dorm for a year. I keep asking myself where were his suitemates? I ran into my roomate numerous times everyday and we had completely different schedules. I know he wasn't close to them or anything, but I'm sure they could have seen some of this strange stuff in their own room.

Also, regarding the new picture just released of him holding the guns. I know it's possible he used a timer on his camera to take it, but it is right at his height at everything, pointing to the idea that he may have had an accomplice or at least someone took this photo. This was just brought up on CNN 10+ mins ago. Interesting to see what unfolds...

Good question ~ did he have a job? His parents own a dry cleaners so I don't think they'd have a lot of money to be sending him with another sibling attending Princeton.

He's dead so he won't get to glorify in the airing. What it does do IMO is open peoples eyes to these possibilities and to take reports from others more seriously.

I'm also curious about that photo and if he was the one who took it of himself. I think it's interesting that yesterday LE wasn't ruling out an accomplice to some extent, but this guy did seem to be a loner so it's hard to tell at this point.

Bringing this post over from the VT Shooting thread that was closed - post #417

Marthatex said:
Violence on television and movies, etc. has been proven in studies to cause kids to act more violently.

These videogames where you are shooting and killing people have been shown to DESENSITIZE kids.

I totally agree with you, Martha, but wondered if you have any sources that I could check out? I'm very interested in this topic and would love to print out some information for friends and family who don't see anything wrong with young (under 12!!) kids playing videogames that are rated M for Mature!!!

I don't have children of my own, but have friends with young kids and a stepdaughter with young kids - it really bothers me what they allow in their homes, but I feel like I can't say anything without having some facts or something to back up my opinion. Thanks in advance if you have any links to sites or reports or things like that!! :blowkiss:

Well, obviously I have a ton of catching up to do - I'm still back on the closed thread and haven't read any of this new thread yet!!! Dinner's almost done, and LOST is on tonight, I feel like I'll never catch up. :waaah:

Has anyone recommended a separate discussion area for this topic, since there are going to be multiple threads with all the new info coming out? Kind of like we have the ANS Discussion - not sure if there will be any legal issues involved with this tragic event yet, but it would be easier to navigate if it had it's own spot. JMO and a friendly suggestion. :)

The package included an 1,800-word manifesto-like statement diatribe in which he expresses rage, resentment and a desire to get even.
The material is “hard-to-follow ... disturbing, very disturbing — very angry, profanity-laced,” Capus said in an interview late Wednesday afternoon.
The material does not include any images of the shootings Monday, but it does contain “vague references,” including “things like ‘this didn’t have to happen,’ ” Capus said.

<snip>

Among the materials are 23 QuickTime video files showing Cho talking directly to the camera, Capus said. He does not name anyone specifically, but he mentions “sin” and “spilling” his blood and talks at length about his hatred of the wealthy.
The production of the videos is uneven, with Cho’s voice so soft that at times it is hard to understand him. But they indicate that Cho had worked on the package for some time, because he not only “took the time to record the videos, but he also broke them down into snippets” that were embedded paragraph by paragraph into the main document, Capus said.
The package also includes 29 photographs. He looks like a normal, smiling college student in only the first two. In the rest, he presents a stern face; in 11, he aims handguns at the camera that are “consistent with what we’ve heard about the guns in this incident,” Capus said.
Other photographs show Cho holding a knife, and some show hollow-point bullets lined up on a table.

More video was just shown on the news, of him in a car, and also with the same background as the photo of him aiming the guns, speaking, rambling on about "this didn't have to happen" and seemingly self-pity. After seeing more than just the photo on the msnbc.com home page it appears he didn't have anyone holding the camera for him.
