Venezuela - President Nicolas Maduro & his wife "captured and flown out of country" by U.S. Army Delta Force during "large scale attack" - Jan 3, 2026

Some countries (Iran, Russia, China) care - they just lost an ally. And I agree on Greenland. Scary times.
Iran isn't looking very stable at present. The latest wave of popular protests isn't being as widely reported as previous ones, but this time there are some indications that Iranian police and military units may be siding with the protesters in some cities, leading to the regime apparently importing Arab thugs to bolster its position.

omg @otto. I was just reading some of this document from November 2025.

Now, I must print and read it all. I encourage others to do the same.
Thank you so very much for posting and encouraging the reading of this.
The plan is very problematic and very serious for all countries. Russia praised the National Security Strategy while every other country, including Canada, expressed serious concerns.

They are planning to keep Maduro and his wife in federal custody in New York.

NYC mayor was .... briefed this morning on the U.S. military capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, as well as their planned imprisonment in federal custody here in New York City.

It’s an American First strategy which shouldn’t come as a big surprise. I can see why other countries might not like it. imo

We have to realize that this move DOES open the door to normalize all kinds of world takeovers in our future...so don't think a PRC invasion is that far off....
Now, a PRC invasion of Taiwan, THAT would be true neo-colonialism.

And clearly the more doors tRump opens, the happier Putin will be.
clearly all moo.

this will be a tricky side effect, won't it.
Overall, DT has been eager to send all away. Will he give them MORE freedom becuase of his actions..or will be send them back because there will be jobs-a-plenty.
Working for the US in oil fields in their own country.

he was arrested by proper authorities for the crimes he was indited on in 2020.
American authorities have no jurisdiction in Venezuela. It was kidnapping, not a proper arrest.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his country was not involved in the United States’ strikes on Venezuela and that he wanted to speak with Trump and find out the full facts of what had happened.

“I want to establish the facts first. I want to speak to President Trump. I want to speak to allies. I can be absolutely clear that we were not involved … and I always say and believe we should all uphold international law,”

The US has published their intent, approved by Russia, to seize control of assets of all countries in the Western Hemisphere, and to turn sovereign countries into vassal states.

Venezuela is the first step. If the US is not stopped, all other countries will fall like dominoes.

"The Kremlin on Sunday welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump's new national security strategy and said it largely accorded with Russia's own perceptions, the first time that Moscow has so fulsomely praised such a document from its former Cold War foe.

The U.S. National Security Strategy described Trump's vision as one of "flexible realism" and argued that the U.S. should revive the 19th-century Monroe Doctrine, which declared the Western Hemisphere to be Washington's zone of influence."

"The Canadian reader will want to flip directly to page 15, for confirmation that, yes indeed, Trump is not joking with his threats to Canada. If it doesn’t become a literal 51st American state, he would happily render the country an economically dependent vassal state.
American domination is the clearly stated intention. He wants to make his country strong by keeping other nations in his sphere of influence — the western hemisphere — weak and reliant.

For Trump, who likes to put his touch and his name on everything, this falls under what the National Security Strategy calls the “Trump Corollary” to the 1823 Monroe Doctrine."

"Trump's announcement that Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry would be the envoy prompted a new flare-up of tensions over Washington's interest in the vast territory of Denmark, a NATO ally.

During an announcement Monday about new warships, Trump said the U.S. "needs" Greenland for national security and that Landry wanted to be part of that goal.

"We have to have it and he wanted to lead the charge," Trump said."

Nicolás Maduro is en route to the United States at this hour from the Caribbean and is scheduled to travel to a New York-area airport, multiple officials briefed on the matter tell NBC News.

Upon arrival he is scheduled to be helicoptered to a location in New York City where he will be processed then ultimately transported to a jail facility, the Metropolitan Detention Center, the officials say.

The officials added that they expect a court appearance as soon as or by Monday evening.

Trump put no time limit on the American occupation. It would be up to the United States to decide when to return the country to Venezuelan control. And then he turned to oil, saying that American companies would fix the infrastructure, “and start making money for the country.”

As an American, I would like to point out that this is not an "American" occupation, nor was it an American invasion. It was an invasion with no input from voters via their representatives.

I have no interest in being part of this. It was a crime, even if we don't like the head of state that was kidnapped. I am reminded of a photogenic murderer who took out a CEO of a despicable insurance company who oversaw the deaths of Americans by his company policies. Did I like the victim? No. But the murderer, if convicted at trial, should go to jail.

The persons who conducted this war crime should be held to account just like any body who commits a crime against someone who is themselves a villain.

The experts the Guardian spoke to agreed that the US is likely to have violated the terms of the UN charter, which was signed in October 1945 and designed to prevent another conflict on the scale of the second world war.

A central provision of this agreement – known as article 2(4) – rules that states must refrain from using military force against other countries and must respect their sovereignty.

Of course not. Maduro did NOT win the last election. Even the UN agrees he was not legitimate. Edmundo González Urrutia won the election. He had to flee after Maduro issued a warrant for his arrest. Maduro just stayed in office. Why is ANYONE defending MAduro?
No one is defending him. However, Trump seems to have considered him a legitimate leader by saying Maduro’s Vice President is the acting head of government. He has expressly NOT invited any of the opposition to Maduro to take over.

IMHO it’s going to be a puppet government designed to extract all profits for American oil companies and nothing for the people of Venezuela.

So ... if Trump and his wife were kidnapped by Russia, the Democrats would take over the US government?
I assume that Vice President Vance would become President if something happened to incapacitate our President.

Even the UN acknowledges that Maduro was not the lawful president of Venezuela. He was a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 that hijacked a nation.
This sounds like a valid reason to begin looking into the USA supporting the UN and other organizations to develop a better world.

That Maduro is not a (lower case d) democrat is no reason to think the US is the arbiter of world policy.

Working with the UN and our allies is the appropriate way to spread democracy and curb government corruption.

The US cannot conquer Canada. Canada is the second largest country in the world. No matter what the US tried, someone somewhere would prevent a small country invading a large country Bob and Doug McKenzie style.
Greenland on the other hand....

The U.S. operation in Venezuela “contravenes the principle of non-use of force,” a fundamental principle of international law, France's foreign minister said.

“France reiterates that no lasting political solution can be imposed from outside and that sovereign peoples alone decide their future,” Jean-Noël Barrot said in a statement on X.

The U.S. operation will have “serious consequences for global security,” he added.

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the removal of President Nicolás Maduro from Venezuela, writing in an X post that Maduro "gravely undermined the dignity of his own people."
