Venezuela - President Nicolas Maduro & his wife "captured and flown out of country" by U.S. Army Delta Force during "large scale attack" - Jan 3, 2026

You keep saying things but need & are required to add IMO or MOO
Experts say: "Donald Trump’s recent claims that the US should keep Venezuelan oil from seized tankers are part of a broader belief in rightwing “resource imperialism”, experts say." and this was before the capture of Maduro last night. Trump keeps talking about fentanyl when Venezuela doesn't deal in that. He's trying to make this about something other than what it is. That's not opinion, that's factual. Trump’s claims to Venezuelan oil are part of broader ‘resource imperialism’, experts say

The 2025 National Security Strategy requires that all trade between South American and China is terminated. The US wants full ownership and control of the Western Hemisphere. However, seizing property that is 60% owned by China opens the door to a proxy war between the US and China + Russia in South America.

"The [Pero]port is 60 percent owned by the Chinese state-owned company COSCO (China Ocean Shipping Company) and the remaining 40 percent by the Peruvian mining company Volcan. More than three billion dollars have been invested, and a vast industrial park has been built near the port. It is the first port in the region capable of accommodating ships with a draft of twenty meters. The port also has dedicated soy terminals.
...

From the almost fully automated megaport of Chancay, Peru, ships loaded with containers sail from Peru to China in three weeks. From Peru, ships carrying raw materials such as iron, copper, minerals, soy, and fruit depart for China. Conversely, cars, computers, and all sorts of technology are shipped to South America."

good article. moo

As an American, I would like to point out that this is not an "American" occupation, nor was it an American invasion. It was an invasion with no input from voters via their representatives.

I have no interest in being part of this. It was a crime, even if we don't like the head of state that was kidnapped. I am reminded of a photogenic murderer who took out a CEO of a despicable insurance company who oversaw the deaths of Americans by his company policies. Did I like the victim? No. But the murderer, if convicted at trial, should go to jail.

The persons who conducted this war crime should be held to account just like any body who commits a crime against someone who is themselves a villain.

"President Donald Trump insisted the U.S. government would run the country at least temporarily and would tap Venezuela’s vast oil reserves to sell “large amounts” to other countries." He's coming right out and saying it, no way to misconstrue his intentions here. Live updates: Trump says US is ‘going to run’ Venezuela in interim. No immediate signs of US control

Sadly, Americans can't separate themselves and why we need to be better citizens. Meaning informed and active, locally and federally. Voting during elections is the very minimum we can do. We need to run for local office, sit on city councils, attend meetings, canvas for others, gather signatures, etc. etc. JMO

This sounds like a valid reason to begin looking into the USA supporting the UN and other organizations to develop a better world.

That Maduro is not a (lower case d) democrat is no reason to think the US is the arbiter of world policy.

Working with the UN and our allies is the appropriate way to spread democracy and curb government corruption.

Agree. There are treaties and other agreements that countries have signed, creating a process for handling these situations legally and democratically.

Let’s work with our allies and UN member nations to resolve the situation, just as we’ve done many times before in the more sane times with more experienced leaders.

I can't wait to hear how the operation went down. While the news sounds like a military operation, it also was a law enforcement operation, and he was arrested by proper authorities for the crimes he was indited on in 2020.

Makes me wonder if the US can invade a sovereign country and set them selves up as a puppet state it's not too far beyond the idea that the ICC could arrest DJT as a war criminal, even though the US doesn't recognize the ICC as having jurisdiction over US personnel. I'm sure Venezuela doesn't recognize the US as a puppet regime, yet here we are.

The U.S. is learning a hard lesson right now. Hopefully, we’ll learn some important things from this unprecedented, very chaotic and dangerous situation.

From your link -

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the removal of President Nicolás Maduro from Venezuela, writing in an X post that Maduro "gravely undermined the dignity of his own people."
Macron agrees with the result, but not the method - because kidnapping foreign leaders contravenes international law.

"The Venezuelan people are today rid of the dictatorship of Nicolas Maduro," Macron wrote on X after Maduro was captured by US forces. "We hope that President Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, elected in 2024, will be able to ensure this transition as quickly as possible," he added.

Maduro "gravely violated" the rights of Venezuelans, but the military operation that led to him being grabbed "contravenes the principle of non-use of force, which underpins international law," Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot wrote on X."

Greenland on the other hand....
Actually, I’d like for Canada to invade the U.S. right now, or at least the northern half. I recently read that Denmark is the largest foreign buyer of real estate in my state, so I welcome them taking over, too.

None of this is surprising, he came right out and said it before he got elected, "Vote for me and you'll never have to vote again".

Wonder who's going to remove our dictator if he succeeds? Seeing as other countries dictators are so awful, according to Trump.

Noticing our government isn't going after countries that have dictators but little natural resources. Curious.

There is no discussion about anyone from Venezuela stepping in to fill the presidential position. The US fully intends to seize full control of Venezuela. If the Venezuela people or military reject the US plan, the US has stated that they are prepared for a second military strike.

Greenland should be preparing to ensure full military protection for their Prime Minister. The US plan will be to send a US envoy to Greenland (already done), send in the CIA, place military close to the region, kidnap the Prime Minister, and threaten to blow up Denmark if anyone gets in their way.

Yup every projection is a confession. I watched a documentary series about the Vietnam war a few years ago, and was shocked to hear Eisenhower talk openly about taking the natural resources from there (on film, that was in this documentary)--named nickel and tin. Just came right out. Politicians have gotten more covert since then, until now. JMO

I assume that Vice President Vance would become President if something happened to incapacitate our President.
If Russia kidnapped Trump for seizing the U.S. presidency in a coup AND announced they would be “running the country” for a while, I doubt they would turn it over to Vance. Unless, of course, they felt his loyalty would be guaranteed. If Trump was illegitimate, so would Vance be.

Venezuelans a peaceful country, always has been. I’ve visited friends there. They barely have a military, have never really needed one.

It would be cruel and criminal for the U.S. or anyone to continue attacking them. They’re a peaceful country and pose no threat to anyone. Their oil, which they’ve drilled and refined since the early 1900’s belongs to their country. It flows naturally from the Maracaibo basin, near Lake Maracaibo. Thanks to their oil industry, they have the oldest and largest middle class in South America.

Of course not. Maduro did NOT win the last election. Even the UN agrees he was not legitimate. Edmundo González Urrutia won the election. He had to flee after Maduro issued a warrant for his arrest. Maduro just stayed in office. Why is ANYONE defending MAduro?
That's a really good question.

I don’t think anyone here is. They’re objecting the way this illegal invasion and government takeover is occurring. It’s dangerous and sets a bad precedent.

If I was running Canada or Denmark I would be looking at how things have gone down in Ukraine and building 100 million drones and buying up the world's supply of manpads.

Anyway, the current escapade is straight out of the New York mobster playbook. Take out your smaller rival and incorporate his organisation into yours.

That's a really good question.
Being against US illegally invading another sovereign state, kidnapping it's president as bad as he is, and announcing taking over said state's national resources, so being against the above is NOT defending Maduro.

From what I've watched in the media as Venezuela's people are weeping with joy and celebrating, they seem to have a completely different take on the situation. 🤷‍♀️
