Verdict: GUILTY for both Millard and Smich of 1st degree murder

I have concerns about WM as a role model given his lifestyle choices (alcohol problems).

I think DM's parents planned a rather rigid path for him...they were determined for him to have a career in aviation and DM never got to back away from that. He described himself as "an extension of another life". DM's parents had him go to prep school, no doubt with the intent that he carry on to university, because a degree is necessary to get ahead in today's competitive aviation industry. DM seemed to balk at this.

DM obviously did not respect his father if DM chose to kill him.

There was definitely something going on with his upbringing, IMO, and I think there was some tension brewing out of the enmeshed, rigid path that DM's parents built and DM's resentment of his father.

The reason boys choose to live with their alcoholic dad is so they can do whatever they want. He could do donuts in the middle of an upscale neighbourhood. His dad is too pickled to pay attention. He was a big kid, and someone described him as a screamer. He can just kick up a loud scary fuss and you just let his dad deal with it. Or not. I would bet it was rare that anyone ever managed to get him to do anything he didn't want to do.

I am sure this has been discussed before, but I am wondering if Wayne Millard might have discovered something to do with Laura's murder, and perhaps that might have been why he was murdered? Just a thought.

My opinion is that WM told his son the MRO was about to open and there wouldn't be time for Baha. He was going to have to knuckle down to business for a change. Blammo!

I had to replay & pause it a few times. MS has a light-coloured sweater covering him and as the car advances, he takes it off.

If you slow it down you can see that MS is in his prison orange outfit- he must get changed at the Court House. It appears that he has an escort with him who's wearing a beige/camel coloured suit. I doubt they'd be transporting MS in from Toronto everyday- he must have a cell at Barton Street. MOO

I don't plan on missing Ms. Noudga get her just desserts. Unfortunately, I don't think we will see her give evidence in her own defense. She came off so poorly in this trial that she won't get far in the next. The Crown is really going to have to have the goods on her to put her away. I can't wait to see her behind bars.

Just my *feeling*, but I'm thinking that her 'judge only' trial may not go as much in her favor as she may have foreseen. Not after her terrible show on the stand in this trial, and her obvious disrespect of the Crown. If she had presented better, I think it would have helped her later. Even so, my bet is that she won't get jail time. moo

I hate to bring this up - again - but its about the hoses and someone's post earlier about the rest of Tim's remains that were cleaned out of the incinerator in the aftermath, prior to LE discovering it. Is there a storm sewer or manhole of any kind that other items (including Tim's remains) could have been discarded in and the drain off from the hoses could have helped to wash them away? Has that ever come up before does anyone remember?

I know I have come across pics of the back of the Riverside Dr. property and for the life of me can't find them now. The testimony about the hoses was on March 30th. Millard had given Villada specific instructions on where he wanted the hoses placed to see where water would collect, but could that have just been an excuse? Villada didn't recall if any water had pooled anywhere.

Still perplexed about the rest of Tim's remains.

nailed it. I told my husband last night that my guess was between 3-4 today. I feel good about them coming back with first disagree after this amount of deliberation

With no questions being asked today, I am prepared to go out on a limb and predict a verdict tomorrow.

If they're close today, they will work hard to finish up tomorrow so that they can go home for the week-end and begin trying to put this behind them.

Since I nailed the day of the verdict (along with a lot of others on here) I will stretch out further on my limb and predict first degree convictions x2.

I think we'll learn from one of the other trials the significance of the extensive watering on Riverside. JMO.

MS has been held at the HWDC since the beginning of this trial. I recognize the sweater he's hiding himself with, because he used to wear it daily to trial. I believe I've seen him in court wearing his yellow shirt before as well... and at the end of the view of that passenger, you can see his cuffs on his wrists. The orange guy must be another prisoner also travelling to court.
