I though Jodi made it very easy for the jury when she waved the survivor t-shirt under their noses. She was practically begging them for the needle. Surely even an opponent of the death penalty would be swayed. But I was wrong, so maybe her reverse psychology did work after all. Not even reverse psychology, more like a quintuple reverse with a triple backflip to land on your head and roll over six times after being knocked unconscious. How else could they not vote for death?

Why the heck is JA crying as the jurors are polled today? She makes me sick

I believe that she felt slighted that they didn't come to a unanimous verdict, like she isn't important enough. If she'd gotten death, she could have wallowed publicly in her martyrdom. And if she'd gotten life, she could have basked in the "love" they showed her. This way, she hasn't really come out seeming very interesting. Now she'll just have to wait around at Estrella, try to remember what her last version of everything was, and face a jury who probably has her number already. I think she's much more likely to get a unanimous death sentence the second time around.

Yes, but sheriff joe said still in estrella jail....why isn't she being put in max security prison?? Her conviction on M1 has already been give...I don't undertsand this.
Until a penalty/sentence is decided, the case remains unresolved and she remains at Estrella. Now that she has been convicted of first-degree murder, she remains in close custody (alone in 7x11 cell, 23/7). The Sheriff claims that she won't be giving any more interviews.

They convicted her of 1st degree murder, she didn't control any of them. :banghead:

But she was the ONLY mitigation witness. It makes no sense to me. :scared:

They stay in jail until sentenced

Maybe he was just disgusted with the lot of them.

Maybe he thought as a citizen of the United States he was FREE to walk down a street without being harassed after doing his civic duty!!!

Pffft.. Way before that with the OJ verdict!
And many more after.
This is a first degree murder with aggravatiors. It's a great verdict, nothing died today. The system worked today. No matter what, Jodi will die in prison ONLY difference ...if she knows the date she's to die or not,
That's it.

there is an upside if she gets life, too. the quality of the lawyers won't be as good as the ones who work on appealing DP cases every day. i DO like that part.

Does the new jury get to hear live testimony, or just a highlight reel of past testimony on YouTube?

I don't know what they'll hear .. I wish it was just her art show again and the victim impact statements, but I assume it's more now.

Wow so there were FOUR holdouts???? Oh my. FIrst of all, where did HLN get this information from? Secondly, that does not sound good for purposes of retrying. Getting about 4 people to change their minds would not be easy, I can see why they gave up. I am so glad the 8 held firm though.

I honestly thought there was just one. I cannot imagine a scenario where 4 people found the mitigating factors to be substantial enough. Hmmm...I really don't think it's a slam-dunk for the next trial...it will be very very difficult to get death at this point, IMO.

I can offer this thought to help. CMJA is in a worse position now than before this verdict. She could have been given Life, leaving it for the judge to decide if that means natural life, or life with parole, a huge uncertainty. As it is, we still have the possibility of Death on the table.

It is not bloodthirsty to want death, it is simply following the law without allowing your own prejudices to interfere. That's what these jurors promised to do and since they are not privy to any information that *I* and *you* don't have, we know there was NOT sufficient mitigation to overcome the premediated murder of an innocent person with extreme cruelty. There, I've said it--that's how I see it. I don't see a juror being free to bring their whole baggage along and throw it in the mix.

Those who stood firm for Death have pointed this trial in the right direction. Take heart, honey, three out of the last four second juries which were called for the penalty phase only chose death. These new jurors won't have 18 days of Jodi Arias prattling on and you know there aren't going to be any expert witnesses coming up with witless explanations which torch their careers.

Yes, we would have liked our justice now --especially to spare the pain for the Alexander family and the interruption for their lives. But it's going to be much shorter now and there won't be the choreographed interruptions that JA instigated with her migraines --this will go much faster.

It may even be surgical. This is proved. That is proved. All you have to look at, ladies and gentlemen, is this question, does the X compensate for the Y? Yes or No.

Oh, and by the way, the public needs to be protected, doncha know? Do we think Arias would offend again? Her lack of criminal record has been offered, so we offer this as evidence against that optimistic outlook: and they play the post verdict interviews where she doesn't say sorry, she says what she would do differently is drive to the Mesa Police Department, and he says she isn't dangerous ...if a person doesn't abuse her (or tell on her) or maybe call her names like that pedophile Travis did.

And then they show the actual gun and knives found hidden in her car as she was trying to leave town before getting arrested.

Don't cry--things will be all right.

Thank you so much for your kind words, anagrammy, princessezme, and Bravo. I'm not crying in my frustration over the non-verdict, honestly I'm heartbroken for the Alexander Family being left in limbo. I want death for CM make no mistake about that, I think she deserves it and I think it's what the law dictates given all the facts, however I would be okay with LWOP. I just can stand the thought of the family having to listen to all the vile lies CM told about TA all over again. It breaks my heart to see the pain in Samantha's face, the torture in Steven's, the horror in Tanisha's and I just can't imagine how incredibly painful all of this has been for them. Then to basically tell them they will have to watch this all over again to get justice for Travis well that just is like pouring salt on an already gapeing wound. I don't have a close family so I can only imagine what one is like and I imagine it makes the violent brutal slaying of one of your family members worse even with all the support of one another. I know there will be justice and I hope the next jury will see CM for the unremorseful, lying, psychopath she is and sentence her accordingly.

I want to thank our verified lawyers here... You have put up with pm's, question after question while you maintain your practices and I haven't seen one complaint. True professionals!

Bet there will some behind the scenes activity and the convicted murderer will be relocated to another prison on security grounds. We will find out after she is already 'relocated'.

I'm really starting to worry about nurmi...:floorlaugh:

We have a nice three day weekend in the US, our Memorial Day... I have some satisfaction knowing that cmja will be in her concrete cell.

Might watch some OZ... She will be there eventually, and oz will look like summer camp compared to what is awaiting her. We've noticed her immaturity right...well imagine a whole prison of women like her... Cmja may think she is walking into some fantasy charm school, she won't be there to be reformed. It reminds me of silence of the lambs...someone told lector he would get out of his cell to walk along beaches if he cooperated. Someone sold jodi on life to get her to behave... She has no idea.

Nite all, please take care!

Sure hope they get to see her post-conviction interviews and if that would have changed their feelings...

Oh me too! What was it her hair, recycling dreams, t **** or parents who were not even there....the instructions were clear.....

I can't wait till they see all her BS, she was all armed up to kill again and even announced to Ryan everyone is safe unless they cross her.....jeez...

So allegedly it was more than one lady. There were a few who felt life would be sufficient. Well if the next jury can't agree that's what she'll get anyway. I would hate to know at 32 my day would consist of laying or sitting in a space the size of my bathroom with the toilet right there. Taking a shower 3 times a week, and eating food that I wouldn't feed my dog. She is going to be miserable.

I agree with all you said about her living conditions...but all that is still too good for her.

We must remember, she was found guilty of M1. We should be grateful the juror, assuming is was only one, who hung the jury for the DP, did not do it for the guilt phase. That is the important verdict when everything is said and done, no matter how many defense lawyers and talking heads and Jodi fans want you to believe this is a win. moo

tell that to Travis's family.
