the wording hit me too yet it seems they are excused and are alternates, not from being alternates ;)

The words "excused" and "alternate" have totally different meanings when it comes to a juror.

I wasn't saying it was NEEDED to view/post on WS, just that for me personally I thought it was easier/more convenient than using a browser. Lots of peeps here actually have/use it. :)

Here, where I live, jurors can ask for a read back of witness testimony as well while deliberating. Is that the case there?

They can ask, but I have never seen a judge in Maricopa County agree to this. The judge will tell them to rely upon their memories and notes.

I don't think she really even had $750. IIRC, she was heavily in debt with credit cards, etc. She owed more than that to Travis!

Didn't her mother say that to Det Flores? That she was heavily in debt and they wanted her to return to CA because of it?

Wasn't he the Dr. baby killer from PA? I'm waiting for the trial of Mario McNeill, the killer of little Shaniya Davis. I've read the media has not requested permission to do live coverage of trial.

O/T: Everytime I think of that picture of that 🤬🤬🤬 McNeill in the elevator, holding that wonderful child in his arms, in that motel in Sanford I want to vomit.

During the time they were still searching for Shaniya, my own 5 year old daughter went on her very first field trip. She was so excited and so was I, and I was lucky enough to go with her. We allowed her to pack her own lunch (I put everything out for her and she packed it in her lunchbox.) When lunchtime came she pulled out everything I had laid out for her, along with a tiny stuffed calico cat, that she had also tucked in.

While we were having lunch, 5 year old Shaniya was less than half a mile away. She was lying among rotting deer carcass, where McNeill dumped her, after he finished tearing her up.

I will never stop crying about that. Sorry for the O/T.

Oh no, are we losing Beth Karas? She just said we are all too hard on him and his closing was effective.

I agree with you that the gas cans would be enough for premeditation proof. The reason for me is because it shows she tried to never stop in AZ for fuel and needed 3 to get all the way in and out of AZ without stopping for fuel.

The 3rd can was critical for that. She lied about even having the 3rd can and the receipts proved she filled up all 3 based on the amounts of gallons of gas. 10 gallons covered 2 gas cans and 5 gallons covered the other one.

Don't forget that when asked by her mother if she had gone to his house on her trip, she said "No, and I have the gas receipts to prove it." (though I don't remember the jury seeing that)

I could not believe it when he said that!

Was he trying to say to the jurors? - this is not personal, so don't judge Jodi just because I can't stand her 90% of the time. :floorlaugh:

BBM - not exactly defending Nurmi here but I believe he was making a point of that statement above - even he doesn't like her, but he is still working within the law. The suggestion being the jury should do the same.

On the other hand, if he really meant it as he really doesn't like her 9 out of 10 days with no implied meaning, I think he deserves a hand for letting the jury and the rest of us know how he feels defending this killer.

Hey everyone has times where they fall on hard times but lets just add the fact that she WAS LIVING WITH GRANDMA & GRANDPA at 28 and that was her bank balance while working.. Just saying didn't look like she was stash'n cash to move out anytime soon..

Her grandmother doesn't look like she's in the best shape. Maybe I'm overly sensitive because at age 58, I have nothing and I live with my Mom. But Mom is 91 and has dementia. Guess I could have gone on with my life and dropped her off at the old folks home, but I didn't. I came back home to care for her so she'd be in her own home with her pets. It's hard as hell somedays, and I miss actually having a life. But I made this choice and I've never regretted it. Not all who wander through life are lost, but a few are. Jodi may be one of the lost. I'll give her one point in her favorite. She's always worked. For that I give her credit. But I don't think there is anything that I've heard that would prevent me from convicting her of premeditated first degree murder and giving her the death sentence.

KN says Jodi isnt the first person to have a phone die on her without having a charger and she probably won't be the last.

Well, she's probably the first I've heard of to have it die on her, pull over and spend all these hours with a "friend," and NOT look under her dang on seat in the car in all those hours, but then JUST HAPPENS to find the charger while in a fog after a murder.

Do they expect us to believe that while Travis was doing whatever he was doing to the floor, she couldn't take the two seconds to go to the car and look under the seat for the charger that was there the whole time? She had to wait till she was a foggy mess after the murder? Seriously?

I know if I can come back with these rebuttals this quickly, the jury can't be buying it.

Yeh it really gets me because for me as a woman traveling alone, my cell phone would be more important to me than having 3 filled gas cans in my trunk. I live in Texas and I would never travel with filled gas cans in my trunk in June much less through Arizona.

She didn't plan on lingering around for as long as she did at Travis's house. She did expect to arrive later than the time frame she told Burns, but not that late. I believe she planned on telling the "I got lost" story from the get go. It's part of her coverup. We know that she planned on turning off the cell phone for at least 10 hours (the time it would take to get in and out of Arizona as quickly as possible). She knew this cell phone issue would look incriminating. If she had told Burns that she'd be arriving at 2PM instead, she'd eventually have to account for the missing 10 hours. Detectives would have noted that this cell phone time gap gives her enough time to ghost her way in and out of Mesa for the murder. To help get around it, she tells Burns that she'll be arriving at 9:00AM -- this gives impression that she is 1) innocent of premeditation and 2) that her original cover story of getting lost in Nevada is true (hence the reason she couldn't find her cell charger or buy a new one to charge her battery). Basically, the "I got lost" story was concocted to explain the cell phone, and telling Burns of an earlier arrival helps to corroborate that as her DELAY is proof that she got LOST. Get it?

And the roommates made it take longer than she had planned, right?

Don't feel it's wise to get high hopes as to the verdict, past one's have indicated such and rather anyone thinks "they know" this jury doesn't matter, no one does. My opinion regarding this trial has been the total opposite of my "norm", and I'm just one person.

It will be what it is, and could be a hung jury, who knows.. wouldn't be a surprise to me and that is.....jmo

"accident" that she didn't get there at the time she should have given the distance. If she told Ryan she would be delayed then it could be used against her that she went to Arizona. She already knew she would just use the "I got really lost" and "then I slept" lines with Ryan. What could she make up for a reason that couldn't later be investigated? If she said, "Oh, I'm going to stop by so and so's" then it would be checked. She didn't care about lying to Ryan and knew she would just use the lost story.

KN used the only ONE question that was really nagging me in this case--why call Ryan burns and tell him she was coming straight away. A lot of people disputed me on that question, but it's a really important question.

but KN, can you explain to me what conversations Jodi had with Travis for any length of time to prove he'd ask her to come there? Her call with Travis, the 2 minute one, was a couple hours before she talked to Ryan, yes? So she already knew at that point she was going to see Travis (if Travis had talked her into it). So yes, why DID she tell Ryan she'd be there straight away instead of making up a lie?

That is a good question for either side of this case.

BBM~ :floorlaugh: You've asked this before! Do you think she snapped? Something triggered to go East (Utah) instead of North (AZ) on Jun3 9pm-ish. It was Travis- she was obsessed with him and she tried to go under the radar, but made huge mistakes along the way. moo

I don't get the :floorlaugh:.

KN brought this up in his closing argument. So I'm discussing it.

So I had dinner with a few friends tonight and they looked me so oddly when I was talking about the case.

"Who is she again? Toby something? Weird name, right?"

"Is she the one who was giving BJ on the front porch to passersby?"

"Oh, yeah yeah yeah, she shot her husband in Alabama."

"He was a priest or something trying to leave the church."

"When is it on?"

"The chick who drove across the country in her diapers? I thought that ended ages ago."

GOD FORBID there is a hung jury. But if they need a change of venue, I know 5 impartial residents who can truthfully say they don't know jack about the case.

How do these people live under rocks?

Those people wouldn't be my friends anymore :scared:

:floorlaugh: Just kidding (sort of)

It was hard to filter myself, but I have spent the last few years trying to teach my kids how to speak their minds while maintaining control. in 2011 our family got to expirience what happens when someone like Jodi is in your mists. My hubbys brother was arrested for indecent liberties with a student. My husband always knew his brother had serious issues and we had not had any contact with him years, but he lives in the same state and it made the news state wide. He was arrested in front of his 7 year-old son and 7 week old baby. The girl was not only his student, but also his sons babysitter. My7 husbands parents took the stance that BIL was not at fault for this. The 16 yo girl was, his wife was, but he wasn't. Long story short, my husband has been disowned for not carrying the family banner. During all of that, we tried to drive home to our kids that 1, it is never wrong to stand up for what is right and defend the inncoent and 2, number 1 can be done without jumping into the mud. Truth be told, in the privacy of my own thoughts and a few convos with hubby I have gotten deep in the mud. My brother-in-law is part of the reason I feel so strongly about this case. He really is an abuser, he really is a pedofile. For Jodi to falsely accuse Travis of these things hurts Travis over and over which is just evil, but it also makes it that much harder for real victims to get justice.

Sorry that was longer than I had intended :blushing:

Similar situation for me.....I am the black sheep of my family because I will not support the sins of my mother, which are criminal. The rest of my family acts as if she has never done a thing wrong.........I don't and I suffer for that. I don't care. Im not going to cater to her and ignore the crap she has done. Sometimes standing for truth means sacrificing other things in your life. In my case my family. In your case also family. You are teaching your kids very valuable life lessons!

And the roommates made it take longer than she had planned, right?

Pretty AMAZING to me it took the roommates THAT many days to realize as well as the friends on the Cancun trip, seems odd, this is AZ after all and in the summer..??
