All I said was that as the mother of a little girl that age, I was very disturbed by that comment and if a friend or acquaintance made a comment similar to that in my presence, I would absolutely not allow them around my daughter.

I have read on dozens upon dozens of threads in this very forum cases where a parent had a friend who said similar things, only the parent's ignored it as "no big deal". And when the unthinkable happened, every poster on these boards blamed the parent for allowing an "obvious pervert" access to their child!!!!

I never said Travis was a pedophile and I do not believe that. What I said was that in this day and age, after all of the heartbreaking cases I have read on this very forum, I would be very alarmed by anyone making a statement like that.

It is my right as a parent, in fact my RESPONSIBILITY as a parent to protect my child from anything that raises my hackles.

I choose to err on the side of caution when it comes to my child's safety and I do not deserved to be attacked for that.

Never once have I blamed or sullied this victim. I made a very true and very heartfelt comment about my parental instincts regarding the "12-year-old girl" remark. I was respectful and honest in my post and stand by my feelings regarding it.

I am sorry you interpreted my protectiveness as an attack on Travis.

Thanks, and MOO.

Knot, I think you are mistaken and the post you quoted was not intended for you. We were having a a period of time with some agitation on the previous thread, and some of it seemed to be intentionally agitating. So, not Knot, I do think not. :):

January 2 is when the trial started.

People should really have faith in their deliberations!

They have always presented taking their job seriously, this is an important part of their job, please be patient people.

For the murder case on which I was a juror, we deliberated for eight days and the trial only lasted five. So, this shouldn't be all that surprising.

We have to remember that we know a lot more than the jury does and we have been able to discuss this all amongst ourselves the entire time. They are just getting acquainted re: discussing the case and developing a rapport. That can take time.

We need to respect the process.

This same jury would be the one involved in the penalty phase should the verdict dictate, correct? If that is correct, maybe the Jury just wants to review all the testimony and evidence so it will be complete in their mind for preparation of this step?

I swear, once this trial is over I am NEVER watching HLN again.

I'm in the UK and only watched it for a week or so a month ago.

An utter nonsense of ego's that really is best avoided. The incessant adverts are almost a relief!

Switch off now and do yourself a favour ;)

Since I have served as a juror I have come to the conclusion that a simple IQ test and simple question test should be given potential jurors during the selection process. I think they should have to be qualified to serve on a jury, period. I've seen jurors who I thought had smoked entirely too much MJ over the years and I've seen some who had absolutely no clue why they were on a jury. Some of them just had this blank look on their faces and couldn't recall even the most obviously simple evidence shown during the examinations. Some want to try the case in the juror room only they make up the evidence in their own minds. Some of them don't understand any of the instructions at all. Some of them can't even read the instructions. Think about it, these jurors are deciding actual life and death cases. Scarey.
ETA: This is true, y'all. One juror after looking at actual crime scene photos of two toddlers, one with her throat cut all the way to the spine and one with their intestines spilled out on her bed after being gutted, made the comment "This isn't anything, I"ve seen worse on videos!". I'm not embellishing any, really.

There is voir dire to weed out unacceptable jurors. I think giving IQ tests is a pretty slippery slope.

Jodi probably would make the cut. Good idea? Not so much.

But there are trials that rely on battle of the experts and I think it would be interesting if all the jurors had to be proficient in that particular field.

From the questions asked by the jury I think some of them really get it. Hopefully they'll do a good job of convincing any others who haven't seen the light yet. If that's the case. It might be that they're reviewing all the evidence and taking their duty seriously. Two full days really isn't long imo.
Exactly ... think about it - 56 days, 38 witnesses, 650+ exhibits and someone's life at stake. I'd take my time and make 100% certain that I looked at the big puzzle rather than scattered individual pieces. And as in the Scott Petersen trial, the big picture is that the defendant planned and executed their target with premeditation. I won't be surprised if it goes into Friday ...

I have limited my trial viewing to WAT since the beginning, I DID watch the entire interrogation videos, but other than a.) more manipulation b.) lies........I didn't put any more into it than what the jury saw. I have seen the bits and pieces not shown to the jury, but have really just held on to the trial testimony and evidence.
I don't watch HLN, and have only had to hear it in the background when BF is watching it.
That being said, you have 12 human beings in a room, going over tons of evidence, pictures, notes, etc. 20 pages of jury instructions.
They may already have their verdict but are making sure that their decision is right with the evidence. IDK....
It's frustrating, but it is what it is.
I hope they come to a verdict tomorrow.........
But it is what it is, and HANG IN THERE, ALEXANDER FAMILY!!!!!
OT: Today, I scheduled to have our old gray mare put down on Friday, she's been in an extreme amount of pain and I couldn't put it off. So I'm not in the best of shape.

I am very sorry about your mare--I am sure she has been loved and you are now going to release her from her pain. it is a very difficut thing to do.

I'm disappointed and have a feeling this jury is going to be exactly like the Casey Anthony jury. This trial cost millions and believe me "no jury is ever going to convict me" why because I'm a pretty girl. I'm done. Our justice system needs to be revamped. I'll shut up and believe the just verdict if we get one.
No- this jury bothered to ask intelligent questions and pay attention. They spent more than 4 hours. It's a different state that's conservative on crime, not afraid to judge like Casey's jury was, and not afraid to put away women. They'll get it right.

And the way she says "the one that looks like JA mother" is making my skin crawl. JC is an embarrassment.:banghead:

I am turning Nancy Grace-esque in my rabid dislike of Jean Cesarez. :slap:

these poor people have been sitting there since the start of February. I bet they have a lot to talk about. Like a LOT.

It took the Scott Peterson Jury seven days to deliberate (and we all know where he is sitting now and rightfully so)

Let them talk. They asked good questions during the trial and they will get there.:twocents:

They have been sitting there since January 2nd when opening statements started.

I am not the least bit panicked about this jury. I have seen other cases when it took over a week to return a verdict of guilty and some even ended with the death penalty being given.

I wonder sometimes if it could be we have become a society that wants instant gratification in every aspect of our lives.

IMO

I agree with pretty much all of this, but especially the BBM. IMO a parent can't be too careful.

Thanks for clarifying this.. I think as the mother of a daughter it would depend where I heard it.. A man I know just casually walking around making a comment about a school girl fantasy would freak me out way more than someone in the ACT of having sex with an ADULT female and having a fantasy.

I don't see it as the same thing. The thing that bothers me most, and this is not directed at all towards you is that when people make that accusation, It is there. It is a stain. People don't forget. EVEN if it is proven not to be true. I have family friend who was accused of such a thing, By his students. He fought it in court, All the while his name was in the papers with the accusations, He won the case when the girls admitted they lied. But still if you search the internet, you don't find his name attached with great teacher or good coach, The first thing that pops up is the accusation..

I understand being cautious about your kids. But everything I see and hear about this guy tells me that he may have been freaky in the sack with a consenting adult female, But that is as far as it ever ever went. My bet is that this was something the Jodi started, That jodi lured him into. Along with the Anal sex that she had with so many other guys. I would bet that up until her he had a very marshmallowy kind of sex life. And she was the one who exposed and taught him to push the boundaries. I would bet that she told him it made her hot to hear such things, And she only sounds aghast, Because she planned to use that in some way to blackmail him.

I am sick of the questioning of what it's like for TA family. My goodness, they sure do dwell on the obvious. I want to scream, it's horrible, terrifying, anxiety ridden, worrisome wait. Why must they keep asking people that same question. errrrrr Leave them alone.

Hi, elementary!

Although the question is not directed to me, I'll answer it.

Deliberations resume tomorrow at 10 a.m. MST which would be 1 p.m. EDT and 12 p.m. CDT.

As you may know, Phoenix is on Mountain Standard Time and the east cost is on Eastern Daylight Time.

Ann-Tx, I want to nominate you as our official Time Zone expert! :great: I could have used this post a while back in the thread when I had to calculate what time to get up tomorrow!

AND... Many Thanks to our hard working MODS for a job well done today! :gomods: :tyou:

Nite nite all.... my eyes are getting blurry, off to rest them a little.
:cat: :offtobed:
