The judge is asking the assistant state attorney how long Mark Sievers jury trial will take. Assistant State Attorney Hamid Hunter said he thinks jury selection and presentation evidence will take longer in the Sievers trial compared to the Rodgers trial.
The Mark Sievers' trial is tentatively set to begin Nov. 12, Lee Circuit Judge Bruce Kyle said. We are moving on to a few other cases before we begin with Rodgers this morning.
Based on the prosecution's opening statement, I think they will try and say Rodgers used this knowledge during the Teresa Sievers murder to keep from leaving DNA behind at the crime scene.
Last week an investigator, with the Lee County Sheriff's Office, testified that Rodgers then-girlfriend helped investigators find pieces of a broken cellphone and a blue jumpsuit on the side of the road in Cadet, Missouri after Teresa Sievers was killed in 2015.
There is no limit on the number suits workers at Doe Run can check out or change into, Conway said. The suits/coveralls are not supposed to be taken home, he said.

On June 28, 2015, Conway texted Rodgers and asked if he could work. Rodgers texted back and told him he was in Florida still. Teresa Sievers was found dead on June 29, 2015, investigators said.
Doe Run trains their own people and trains contractors separately, Conway said. Laborers at Doe Run have to have their blood drawn once a month to check for high lead levels as well as a physical once a year, he said.

Rodgers was a reliable and a good worker, Conway said. It wouldn't have been unusual for Rodgers to try and get a full-time job at Doe Run because it pays more, he said.

Assistant Public Defender Kathleen Fitzgeorge is now questioning Conway on cross examination. She clarifies that in 2015 Conway was not working for Doe Run, but a contracting company that sent laborers to Doe Run.

The lockers at Doe Run can be locked, Conway said. People take the coveralls home to use during maintenance work, such as painting or yardwork at home, Conway said.

Someone working for the contracting company could work at Doe Run one day and somewhere else the next, but are still assigned their own locker, Conway said.
