Next [last] witness was only on the stand for maybe 10 minutes. He talked about the burner phones the state says were used by Mark Sievers and Curtis Wayne Wright. Defense pointed out these "burners phones are used for legitimate purposes are they not?"

I have a stupid question. Is JR disputing that he was in the Seiver's home? If not, why put so much effort into tracking him there? I thought he was going with the "I was there but I never hit her" defense?

I'm with you. This is what KF said in the defense's opening:

The State will take a lot of time and effort in showing you how Mr. Rodgers and Mr. Wright drove to Florida, to prove they were here in Lee County. I tell you what, it was no secret. Not a secret at all. In fact no effort was made to conceal the fact that they were coming to Florida.
And then they've objected to every piece of evidence putting him in Florida.

When he was first questioned by Downs & Lebid, he told them he didn't go to Florida. I'm not entirely positive what strategy his legal team is going to go with.

"It's important to take these dates a data set and not focus on any individual point," Buchhofer told the jury about the data on the maps.

"The more times the phone is located by AT&T in a general area, the more likely it really was there," Buchhofer said.

If the state had introduced a video of Rodgers walking into that Walmart would that enhance your confidence in that particular data point, Ross asks. Buchhofer said yes it would enhance her confidence.

and @Bobbywoo Okay, so they are going with the "I said I wasn't in FL but okay, maybe I lied about that. Even if I was in FL, I didn't murder her."

Not a good look.

I missed that opening statement, thanks for filling me in.

The maps are facing the judge and angled toward the jury, which is making it really difficult to keep up with what this witness is talking about.

Buchhofer is now being cross examined by Assistant Public Defender Rexford Darrow. She is trained to analyze the data when asked by Rexford.

Buchhofer is not trained on how AT&T collects the data she testified about. She is trained on analyzing it, she said.

AT&T can't get the data location from a phone that is off because it won't ping to any tower, Buchhofer said.

Was there any indication this was phone was off during the time frame you analyzed, Darrow asks Buchhofer. A section on one of the maps does have no data points in Tennessee. The map allegedly shows the phone traveling to or from Missouri/Southwest Florida.

The next witness is going to be "quite lengthy" the judge said. We are breaking until 1:15 p.m.
