Vicki moved to Eureka, Humboldt County from Hayfork, Trinity County for work in early June 1976. On 15 June, she was seen hitchhiking from Eureka west to a beach in the small town of Samoa. Her body was found in the sand dunes outside Samoa by four teenage boys on 30 June. Decomposition of her remains prevented telling whether or not she had been raped.

In the summer of 1984, Lucas led Humboldt County LE to the scene of Vicki's murder. Sheriff Dave Renner said Lucas knew details of the crime only the killer could know.

Henry Lee Lucas is known for retracting his confessions. I wonder if he guided LE to the crime scene on his own or if he was coached to just close the case

Indeed, he was known for that. (Past tense because he's now dead.) Which is why I didn't claim the crime was solved. Most of Lucas' claims were bogus.
