Is this another girl missing from the area? Was she ever found?

Dashad Sage Smith (transgender male) has been missing from Charlottesvile since November 20, 2012. Erik Tyquan McFadden was the last person to contact her by phone. Although his number was listed as unknown on Dashad's phone records, the number was posted on Facebook and someone recognized it as Erik's number. Police searched several times for Dashad but have not found her yet. Erik disappeared since the police had contacted him about Dashad's disappearance but he has not been located since November. Police think he moved out of Charlottesville. They have a phone number to contact if anyone has any information for Dashad or Erik.

Personally I don't think the two cases are related but here is the discussion thread for Dashad "Sage" Smith

There seem to be some results when I plug this into google:

"junk yard nelson county, virginia"

As I said, I have a lot of posts to catch up on, and maybe I'm jumping in here a little prematurely, and if so, I apologize; it is rather rude to just jump in without reading the whole conversation, but I do just want to say as far as left field theories here on WS, I believe all possible theories are welcome here. If you visit some other WS threads, you will hear all kinds of crazy theories (what's even crazier is that sometimes the cases turn out to be crazier than the possible crazy theories that people posted). That's what this place is all about, imo, brainstorming and coming up with ideas together. I'm all about facts too, and the facts in this case seem to indicate an alleged perp with a strong familiarity and level of experience with ALL THINGS CARS (car wash, repo man, sales lot, mechanic, painting, auto detail...) I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar (easy for me since I have no money, haha) that there could be a relation somewhere to something AUTOMOTIVE. Especially since there is a lengthy criminal record history.

Anything about RAT that can help lead us to Alexis (any other possible victims or evidence/leads)...

JMO.

unbelievable the number of junk/salvage/car crushing businesses along 29 and lots of roads coming off 29. I"m not going to disregard this at all, not at all. IMO, Alexis may be in one of them, or vehicle(s) used in his possible crimes.
I remember posters here saying, why such a showy recognizable vehicle?--the suburban cammo one. Maybe because that isn't the vehicle he uses to dump
his victim(s), if there are multiples, and maybe never the same dump vehicle.
Have been studying some of these junkyards--the reviews customers give, their likes and dislikes, some reviews rave about the great, prompt service the workers give, others complain of no service, just let in the gate to drive aimlessly around to find their own parts.
The map of these junkyards is available if anyone wants to see it. Just type in margarita's
"junkyards Nelson County Virginia"Some of them are located right next to state forests/campgrounds, mountains. I could see someone dumping the body, then trashing the vehicle in the junkyard,
possibly framing someone else the perp knows well enough to be able to pick up cig butts, beer cans, tools, etc and place them in the vehicle.
There is going to be some framing involved, IMO, but will it be someone totally guilty, partially guilty, or innocent? Again, by watching these crime shows he will be incorporating all kinds of random things--I remember a Castle episode where they find a woman crushed into a vehicle by a car crusher for example. But that's not where this is coming from, I promise.
But if RAT saw that episode, maybe a lightbulb went off in that evil brain, especially because he knows so much about cars.

We are back in Nelson County today. Randy Taylor is scheduled to go before a judge at 1pm for a bond hearing. That's where the judge will decide whether or not he can bail out of jail. Right now, a judge has issued an order banning all cameras, media and the general public. I will try to bring you updates as soon as I hear about them.

**As for the search, investigators tell me they are all along Route 29. They are targeting the Cub Creek area along Roseland Road (Route 56) area for Alexis.

They are no longer using helicopters. Only K-9's.

Follow me on Twitter @nadine_maeser I will post more updates there as well.

Eh, at least they're still looking for her. That must be absolutely maddening to be in a LE search party... think of all the freaking land and types of terrain they have to cover. And then think of how small what they're searching for is. Hats off to them!

I'm just getting back to this case after a couple of days stepping back. I've never been so mentally taxed about a case before and I don't know why. Maybe because it's local or that she is a dear friend's cousin. Don't know. Anyway- IMO there must be something that needs to be kept out of the public eye/ears. No media allowed in the hearing today AND this new K-9 search spot. It's making me nervous that something "breaking" is going to happen. All IMO.

Ok, someone refresh my mind, I know I have seen Roseland Rd mentioned before...but in what/who was that in relation to???
Thankful they are searching, and MUST have something to focus in that area as it is NOT where RAT lived, NOT where Alexis lived! Something gave them a starting point. Hate that they are most likely looking for a body, but glad to see there ARE searches!!
:please:

After leaving the Marines and before going to nursing school I use to keep the books and make the deposits for a multi-million dollar auto parts/salvage yard business. These type of businesses make a ton of money. They are secured by fences, security guards and dogs at night, typically. Every vehicle they buy has to be legal whether it is an auction or from a person and LE often frequent these places.

Because these type of businesses are such a big money maker they don't let people just drive around the back to help themselves. Usually, you have to access the back thru the front counter. You either walk around to find your part (yes really), or the sales people have a junker car that they drive around the lot to get the part. If people were allowed to drive back there they would be stealing parts left and right.

Most cars that come into a salvage yard are dismantled and the parts placed in a specific area. Hoods, trunks lids, fenders, batteries etc. Also, the employees have a semi good idea what they have on the lot on a day to day basis because body shops, customers are always calling asking if they have something they are looking for.

All of this is assuming the business is legit, of course, and jmo.

When asked if investigators are looking for a second suspect, Mays replied “no comment.”

There is no longer a command center in Lovingston, Mays said. The main center for communication is coming from the FBI office in Charlottesville.

one of my favorite junkyards is on 56, and there are several in that area

I would assume it is related to the tire tracks the property owner found on his property. Perhaps this indicates that they were a match to RAT's truck......

Roseland Road runs near Crabtree Falls Highway.

Nice that you were working for a legit biz. Reading the reviews of these places, like I said, they run the gamut from lots of service (your type of biz) and no service (?) And no one is saying that the no real service places are not legit! But they do exist, you must realize that the type of biz you worked at is one example.

For example: bail bondsmen. "most" of them are legit, others will accept stolen goods as payment, obviously they will not be reporting that. From very personal experience, in this case ex-sister-in-law, a bondman/bounty hunter,
they were NOT legit, she once accepted a bag of cocaine for pay! Not to mention jewelry, not a nice person, but here is someone with govt. licensing,
all kinds of rules to follow, and she broke them all.

All BBM, and by the way, thank you very much for the info about how cars are dismantled, etc,
very informative, p.s. Semper Fi! and, we have the same signiature, faith, hope, and love and I didn't see your's first! how cool is that?

My dad was a mechanic in Montana and I accompanied him on many a trip to a junkyard just like the one you're describing. Even most of the smaller junkyards had gone to security systems by the time he retired, 15 years ago or so.

Security and parts theft have always been a problem. There's a reason for the phrase "meaner than a junkyard dog" :D

locals, does anyone know about Falling Springs Cemetery? And how does the Maury River flow, what roads, bridges are there across it?

My nerves are on high right now as I'm anxiously awaiting for news on RAT's bond hearing. I've planned my day around 1pm. LOL.
