Those two men aren't too smart to be doing that kind of crap in light of Alexis's disappearance, much in the same manner.

okay... mods can delete if needed, but I felt this was important... this is from my facebook... from a friend of mine... in my home town.. we are a few minutes from the nelson county line.... as is where this happened yesterday... this mom, by the way, is a very down to earth, quiet type so this is not something she would post unless it occurred...

Ok this is for all the young girls driving around the town of Amherst.....BE AWARE!!!!This happened to my 18 year old yesterday....And this happened not at night but during the daylight........She went to the Marathon station in Amherst (at the traffic circle) to get gas and when she pulled in she happened to notice a white pick up truck with two older men in it parked to the side watching people. She pulls to the other side of the parking lot to the farthest gas pump and gets out to get gas. The white truck immediately pulls to the pump right beside her and one man stays in the vehicle while the other gets out to pump gas. He is grinning and winking at her and they are laughing. She finishes pumping gas and locks her car to walk across the parking lot to the store for a soda. She hears the one man say "what about that one." She walks a little quicker to the store with her pepper spray in her hand and then comes back to her car and proceeds to pull out at the circle to go to Food Lion.....the white truck pulls out right behind her and follows her very closely to Food Lion. She gets to the lower end of the parking lot to meet her boyfriend but doesn't turn off her car and they drive very slowly by her watching her and smiling the whole time. Luckily her boyfriend pulls up and the men drive out of the parking lot on the other end....PLEASE, PLEASE ALL GIRLS pay very close attention to who is around you when you are getting gas or going into stores in the area!!! With Amherst County High School so close, we have so many young girls driving in the town that could become potential targets!!
I'd file a police report, & give a description of the perps, vehicle etc. If they're local, Amherst isn't very big, someone will know them. I had a stalker follow me once and I drove to the local police department. They went on, but I couldn't describe anything it was too dark and they were following with brights on. Scared the livin stuff out of me though.

So, upstream I remember someone posted a link detailing an interview with someone who claims to have known RAT...says he was into 48 Hours Mystery and CSI...

I told her to call the Nelson tip line for Alexis... it may be some jerks being a lot of words I cant post on here, and considering the stupidity of doing something like this with everything about Alexis going on here, i know this is a slim to maybe none possibility... but RAT accomplices? as in the other people in the truck with him? just a thought... either way, since the 911 op basically chastised her daughter for not getting the license plate, I dont have the confidence it will be shared with Nelson LE... so she is calling it into them as well... just in case... I think it is something they need to be at least aware of... even if it was just some jerks thinking it would be funny because of everything with RAT... or maybe some of the locals around here who are backing RAT, thinking it would take eyes off of him, in some twisted way... so many words I want to type right now...

yep, report it and get them investigated.. .then maybe they will stop assuming they were just joking.... got to act on things like this!

It was reported on WDBJ7 TV in Roanoke today online, that their source in LE "are sure they have their man".

I just hope the evidence is as strong. Here's to Sept 26th Grand Jury baby!

I really hope that isn't what happened.. I guess the cellphone's last ping in the area of his home only reinforces the abduction charge... but you never know :(

He's already admitted through his lawyer that Alexis was at his property, inside his trailer, even if his story might be partially untrue.

It was reported, immediately after it happened... her mom made sure of that... now she is reporting it to Nelson LE though... from the spot this happened at, in one minute your on route 29, within 5 minutes your in Nelson county...

learning this from my daughter, but most girls have a very good radar for detecting creepy guys to watch out for.... I can't disclose who, but someone we sort of knew who had a shady past my daiughter picked up on avoiding him.. when she was only 8 years old. She said he gave her the creeps.. She was dead on... and us adults would not have seen him as that bad... but he ended up very bad.

In all fairness I go to bed at 8.30p on a nightly basis and was on vacation in FL without internet (pretty much) for a majority of last week -- I must've missed it ;)

even if her body were found in the junkyard inside the trunk/crushed mess of the vehicle? JMO

This criminal mechanic/car restorer
could go to a junkyard to get a side panel or fender, etc--because ordering one might be dangerous, paper trail and all.
.

RSBM: The junkyard is computerized ( they know what is out there)- and has security- there is a lot of money tied up and made in this business. It is not an open rambling area that anyone can roam around in.

ETA: Customers & their parts are recorded- as many of the parts have a warranty / trade in if they do not work (mechanical parts). They have a record of who buys what and when.

Nothing from his attorney today? I'm seriously wondering if they don't have an accomplish in sights, and are tailing him. Otherwise, I just can't see why not ANY details being released. Sure lots is usually kept secret until trial, but we are hearing NOTHING. The family must have been informed about something as well if they felt it would jeopardize the case. Just praying Alexis is found!

At what point does "discovery" take place where both sides have to reveal what evidence they have?

To be convicted of abduction, LE will need much more than a hair and a video showing he turned the same way she did out of the gas station. Does that actually count as following?

My guess is they kept him in jail for his protection! Or, second thought, to protect his son!. What a dumb idea he was going to live with his son and mother. What would this have done to the poor son!

I think the arraignment is when discovery comes in to play? After the indictment?

But where else did he have to live????

Still surprised the ex family is supporting him. They must not feel his is a danger, or something. I don't know.

I don't know about discovery yet. I know in Grand Juries, they can ask witnesses questions, and they are under oath to tell the truth. Whatever is said in the Grand Jury can be later used at trial if he is indicted. It's sort of like a mini trial to see if juries think there is enough evidence for a trial. Forces the state to reveal what they have on the suspected.

:jail: Enjoy that view RAT!

I guess the info about where he would live (with ex and son) was put out there by one of the media in the court room after hearing RAT's attorney say it to the judge, because releasing where he was planning on living if released on bail, is a REALLY DUMB MOVE, imo... Nelson takes care of its own... just saying... and it would indeed have put mom & son in a lot of danger...

Females are much better than males at interpreting non verbal language & behavior. I have read studies that relate this to maternal protective instincts hard wired from birth. (no references). But I don't know of many women who haven't said at some time, "ick, creepy, stay away", and the other women give the nod and the look, without questions. :scared:
I think the problem comes in when your instincts are conflicted by others that just think he/she is "the sweetest thing on this earth."
It is very interesting to see how very young children recoil from some people, something I never completely disregard

She's been missing for 19 days. I guess they are searching the property even though the tire track doesnt match just in case he used another vehicle. I know its all for the best but I need info!

At what point does "discovery" take place where both sides have to reveal what evidence they have?

From what I know, and this is the way we do it here, the discovery is filed before the court date. It gets dropped off at the Commonwealth Attorney's office and they sign off on it. There are a couple options (at least in the county I work in) -- discovery can be done in oral form or written form, weeks/days before or the morning of the court date. The county we are based out of normally gives defense the evidence in oral form no later than 30 minutes before the start of court on the day of court. But in another county we cover you have to go in front of the judge, with a motion, and it's normally in written form and gets mailed to us well in advance of the court date.

I have NO CLUE how they do it in Nelson. I don't believe defense has to give up any evidence to the Commonwealth -- I've never seen us do anything like that, at least incriminating evidence.. It's always Commonwealth giving their evidence to defense.

Any lawyer or whoever knows this better please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :)

I read in one of the articles that this is his son's first year of High School. I just can't imagine the difficulty this kid's gonna have. He needs to be moved to a different school district, (ideally.) Another victim of this criminal, IMHO.
