Victim impact statement *MERGED*

IMO no one will speak on Caylee's behalf. I'm sure ICA's family will speak on her behalf to save her life. I'm not sure the State will be allowed to show a video of Caylee unless it was on behalf of a family member and in my opinion no one in the Anthony family will want to speak.

I agree. I cannot see anyone, even GA, making a victim impact statement to tell the jury how the defendant's crime impacted them and ruined their lives. I don't see it. Because even if they get very, very angry, they do not want to admit that their family is not "united" and perfect. These people are way too entrenched in their denial.

Mods, can you please merge? I bumped this thread up recently.

Thank you!

I am afraid that no one will speak for Caylee, completely. Every time I think about it all I can see in my head is "C M A!! C M A!!!!"

From Wikipedia: A victim impact statement is a written or oral statement made as part of the judicial legal process, which allows a victim of crime the opportunity to speak during the sentencing of their attacker or at subsequent parole hearings. In some instances videotaped statements are permitted.

I say play a collage of videos. Show them Caylee, who she was, let HER speak.

Great idea. And I hope the lights flicker on and off. :)

Maybe Uncle Rick will be Caylees hero.:hero:

Depending how things go for him during the trial, Lee might speak on Caylee's behalf. I recall him having said (perhaps in a video visit with Casey in jail) that his first concern was Caylee, then Casey, then their mother. I think it's possible that Uncle Lee could be Caylee's voice. jmo

Maybe Jesse Grund? He is not family, but he loved Caylee. I could see him doing an impact statement for her.

And his mom and dad.

Every state has their own rules regarding victim impact statements. Some only allow a statement to be used to scold and hopefully help in rehabilitating the guilty party. Other times it's is used to show cause for the harshest sentence possible. Many states do not allow that at all. I'm not sure how it is in Florida. Based on any of the above, the A's would have to at least admit she is guilty of killing Caylee. I just don't ever see that happening.

I think Rick Plesea should be given the opportunity.

I imagine him calling ICA 'mutha of the year' and telling CA she's so blind she needs a seeing eye dog.

I hope that it will not be GA, CA, or LA, I understand the shoes many family members would be in but, the A's could have talked ICA into coming clean or they could have, instead they choose to play a lying cover up game. Victim impact would need to come from outside their house to mean a thing to me.

I hope you are right. I also hope he can thwart the DT from throwing GA or anyone else under that bus, by telling the truth. Please Lee stand up for your niece and then go live your life in peace and a clear consciuos.

Section 960.001 of the Florida Statutes gives a victim, a minor victim's parent or guardian, or the next of kin in a homicide the right to submit a Victim Impact Statement (oral or written) to the Court prior to the sentencing of the defendant. This statement gives you the opportunity to describe how this crime has affected your life and what you would like to see happen to the defendant for committing this crime.

Probably no one will speak for Caylee. IMO, no person who was not a close relative and none of the former friends should do any speaking. Almost all those several people who were fairly close to Caylee for awhile should hang their heads in shame for all the hatred they've shown toward Cindy publicly. They've already given their statements, which could have the impact of Casey not getting the deserved punishment. The great grandma Shirley is also a theft victim, and would really be the only appropriate one to speak, but shouldn't be expected to with her age, a sickly husband, and the stress it would cause. Maybe there shouldn't be any expectations of any victim impact statement since they are all lost Caylee and will be losing another relative to prison if she's found guilty. It's too much to ask or expect from any of the Anthony family.

IDK why... but I have a feeling Lee will speak for Caylee. Just a gut instinct I have. Wishful thinking? Perhaps. But I have felt all along that while LA loves his sister: he loved his innocent niece Caylee, too. He has called ICA out on her lies before, and even hinted that he 'may have been' using ICA for info re: his nieces whereabouts. I'm wrong a lot, but I truly pray my gut isn't *off* this time. :praying:

Actually, and I've said this before, Caylee does have family to speak for her- just not immediate family- there's Uncle Rick, Grandma Shirley, Cindy's other brothers and George has family. Don't see why any of them couldn't give a victim impact statement.

After this week, I'm starting to think it will be George and Cindy after all!! :thud:

Then according to the Fla. Statute Cindy, George and Lee MAY give a Victims Impact Statement since they will also be able to include what they may want to see happen to the defendant (Casey). But wouldn't it be a real BOMBSHELL if the State has found the identity of Caylees father, if he is not deceased, and he was there to give a Victims Impact Statement?

After what we've seen during the trial, I thought it might be Cindy. Then I crossed her off my list. I'm still uncertain about George or Lee. I think it would be a great visual for a grandmother the jury hasn't heard from to give the statement. They would see someone who wasn't involved in testimony talking about losing their precious granddaughter. I think that would wrap it up nicely.

I think Caylee should 'speak' to the jury via the 'You are my sunshine video'

It would impact the jury more than any words could say
