How has Peaches not been identified? Surely, dna from her daughter (unidentified toddler) would be able to ascertain the father and to find out who Peaches was.
so while it is possible to find her bio father through DNA testing, there are quite a few challenges with this specific case. if she were to have been a sex worker as police seem to keep implying then there is a decent chance he would be of no use to the case because he might not have even known peaches or that he had a child by her, so for all we know they DID find him and he had no idea about their identity whatsoever. dna sites like 23&me also tend to not be to popular with many people who don't want their DNA being stored and possibly being accessible to law enforcement and they would have to do genetic genealogy and hope they find a distant relative to work backwards from, and considering noone seems to have even noticed she went missing (she seems to not have had a missing persons report or anyone trying to say hey that's so and so) and it was almost 3 decades ago I'm willing to bet that the father would be of almost zero help even if they found him, if he was in their lives and wasn't their killer he would've came forward asking about them by now you'd think

This is a very good question. It seems so simple . Yet... the poor baby still has a yet unknown name. NY need to do better. The answers are all right there . They kinda need to quit acting like they do not want to see them.

African-American Does are harder to identify because they are less represented in DNA databases that are usable by LE for genetic genealogy. I'm sure that's the main reason Peaches hasn't been identified yet (so far as is known in the present day). I think the Asian Doe will probably be even harder to identify, though, as Asian Does are under represented in the DNA databases too, and there are even less Asian Doe cases..

It was also suggested that Peaches is an unknown offshoot of a traced family. She's likely the product of an affair or a one night stand. That makes it very difficult to trace someone's identity.

I got a few questions , an a few facts ,that should point to the fact that African American DNA is the most documented DNA of the America's so , should I ask them Q'S all here or not?

There’s a problem in that few convicted ppl whose genomes are in codis appear in genealogy databases. The venn diagram would show a small intersection.

Probably in part because a chaotic life style does not lead to carefully documenting your life.

I think this is an area where work needs to be done. A pet peeve of mine.

How do we smooth that out?
The government was quick to take the DNA ..they are now obligated to us . They breed us , jail us, maKe a whole lot of 🤬🤬🤬 TO KICK.? felonious DNA , Why are they taking it if it ain't for nothing?

I suggest more data gathering - more work along the lines that genealogists do - not just adding a genome/snp/cnv record to codis but also link this to a genealogy-codis. Add that to the meta data.

I have a lot of other potentially integrity-infringing ideas lol

That doesn’t deal with the important problem @iamshadow21 mentioned - that maybe 10% - anyway - a substantial fraction - of all ppl have incorrectly documented paternity.

Grizzly True Crime recently interviewed the DA. She asked him if he knew who Peaches was yet?
He said her identity has not been released.
IMO, it sounds like she's been identified.
Grizzly has a youtube channel.
Listen to the interview.

Since I’m not working on this issue and getting paid for it, I should probably shut up. Wine is overrated btw.

so now that tierney has said the investigation in heurmann has concluded does this mean she is officially not a lisk victim?? 🤔

See the bolded text.

There comes a time when we have to say that, a case has an investigation phase, a grand jury phase, a pretrial phase and then a trial phase,” Tierney told reporters after Heuermann’s latest court appearance.

So, that investigation phase, in regard to this case, is pretty much closed,” he said. “That is not to say we’re not investigating other unsolved cases in Suffolk County which we will be doing all along.”

He didn't say that the investigation into Heuermann has concluded. He basically said that they are proceeding with the current indictments. They can't hold the case up and sit around waiting for evidence tying him to the other victims. They are going to try to put him away on the current charges. Anything else will be a new indictment/separate legal action. It's pretty common in serial killer cases.

They know who it is, Tierney said on grizzly true crime that it wasn’t made public yet which let us believe they know the name

I saw the interview.
The DA said her identity has not been released.
They know who she is.
Peaches was found with a towel and pillow case.
Hopefully, the killers DNA was left behind.

I'm going to guess Peaches is from Georgia.
Police were able to identify two people she was related to from Alabama.
They died decades ago.

Peaches is identified. They're having a hard time linking her to Heuermann and there's some bureaucratic issues because she was found wholly in Nassau while Baby Doe was found entirely in Suffolk. The family in Alabama had no idea who she was or that she even existed and wanted to let sleeping dogs lie. They've politely requested anyone in the know keep their mouths shut. There are a couple of really good guesses for Peaches on NamUs and the Charley Project that people have listed, but the individual now known to be Peaches is not someone you'll find much information on online. They know who she is but do not know how she wound up on LI.

The DA would like to accompany an ID with charges. Heuermann is obviously the suspect but they can't say that without being able to prove it. The judge has been getting antsy and that forced the DA to speed up a little. Charges for Valerie basically make him the suspect for Peaches, but if you read the indictment, Valerie was actually the weakest. No witnesses, family was not out of town, the only thing linking Heuermann to Valerie is DNA. I have little doubt that they're going to release a ton more for the trial but that indictment appears far more rushed and less thorough than the others.
