Victim "Peaches" IDd as Tanya Denise Jackson, and toddler IDd as Tatiana Marie Dykes, found Hempstead Lake State Park, June 1997 #4

It's supposedly because that's what the shipping crates used to have stenciled on them! So, from the height of northern England's mill and textile boom.

It's still very commonly used out here, say, in a department store there will be a manchester department. I forgot completely it was regional. I usually try to use terms that the most possible readers will understand. This one just slipped by me.

It's interesting to learn about stuff like this :)

I was absolutely not expecting this, gosh. An arrest, after all this time, so soon after their identification, and someone to actually take to trial.

I'm wondering if they retested evidence and instead of finding RH's profile, they found this guy's. Tatiana was found long after she died, but Tanya's torso was found very soon after she was killed, and in a container, with manchester and paper towels. The potential for transfer evidence being found would be good.

manchester? 🤔

I don't know why but it is very hard to find a map that shows the location of where Tanya Jackson, aka 'Peaches' torso and Tatiana Dykes were found on Gilgo Beach but it is on here. You have to enlarge the map and look at the skull icons: Gilgo Beach Killings Locations Gilgo Beach Killings Locations

Yeah, neither of them were actually found on Gilgo itself. So it has to be a map that goes east, west, and north enough to show the two locations for Tanya and the one for Tatiana. Most of the maps focus heavily in on Gilgo and Cedar and don't show Jones or any of the other related parks or green spaces.

This map is pretty great. Long Island Serial Killer map - Google My Maps

Dykes probably took Meadowbrook State Parkway over.

"As for Dykes, he made a straightforward request in court in Florida on Thursday. “I’d like to go to New York and defend myself,” he told the judge at his arraignment".

😆 Good. I hope so.

"The cold case expert also pointed out that because Dykes may get linked to Gilgo because the little girl’s remains were found there could possibly help in the defense of Rex Heuermann. He’s the 62-year-old man whom prosecutors have charged in the killings of seven of the 11 people whose remains have been unearthed at Gilgo...
“The surprise here of arresting Andrew Dykes in the murder for Tanya kind of upsets that whole apple cart, so to speak,” Giacalone said, “in regards to maybe all of the victims were responsible by one killer.”

In other words, the cold case expert said, with Dykes’ name now added to the Gilgo cases, it could provide an opportunity for Rex Heuermann’s defense attorneys to cast doubt on their client’s arrest and prosecution".

Personally, I think the DNA on the other victims, witnesses, other things are pretty convincing Heuermann did the seven so far they have charged him with.

But I wonder about Asian Doe.

When she had the baby, I believe she left military service. If he was married and she was trying too establish child support the fact that he had an affair might have led to this? Wasn't adultery a punishable offense during that time? What do we know about him?

manchester? 🤔
It has to be Corduroy fabric, also named "Manchester". For example, carpenter's trousers were made from Manchester in old times.
"Cord + Manchester" refers to corduroy, a durable, ribbed fabric named for its historical production in Manchester, England, known for its warmth and versatility in clothing and upholstery, with different rib widths like babycord, finecord, and widecord offering varied textures and uses. While "Manchester" primarily denotes the fabric type in German-speaking regions, "Cord" is the English/international term, both describing the iconic ridged velvet material.

Born in Alabama, she had ties to Georgia, Texas, and Missouri. Records show Tatiana was born in Texas in 1995 while both parents were serving in the Army.
Det. Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick said in April that Dykes, listed as Tatiana’s father on her birth record, had been questioned previously and was cooperating with investigators at the time. He did not disclose whether Dykes was considered a suspect then.

Court documents indicate Dykes fled New York after the killings. Authorities have not disclosed the evidence that led to the indictment, nor clarified the relationship between Dykes and Jackson beyond sharing a last name and a child.

Would the baby have had HIS name, if he was married and had an affair? Idk.

It is not unusual for the baby to take the father's name even if the parents are not married. It's not required, but it does happen.

It's sad she was never reported missing and I'm not sure if anyone noticed her absence over the years. I wonder if this case would have gotten as much attention if it hadn't been linked to the Gilgo Beach killings? Of course, her tattoo got a lot of attention as well.

that's even worse than Rex it was her own father. Justice for Tatiana and her mother.
Isnt that the "father" most of the time?
Arent unrelated predators like ten or hundred times less likely to cause serious harm or death of a child than "fathers" and "step dads"?
And excuse me, what justice? He got away with it for almost 30 years, hes an old man now, whatever he may get now will be nothing more than maybe a symbolic token of "justice".

Will Tanya get her justice and as much public media coverage explaining that she wasnt a sex worker who took her toodler with her on the job? I dont think so.

Btw. was it really making sense statistically? Cause I highely doubt that women doing sex work are taking their kids with them on the job. I dont mean it in a way that never happens, cause surely it does sometimes but... whats wrong with us?
Just because other victims found in general are were known to be sex workers - was it reasonable to assume that one of them just happened to have her tiny child with her on the job? Could seem reasonable to consider that she also may be a sex worker BUT why the presence of Tatiana + confirmed identity of some other victims as involved in sex work didnt brought the theory that:
oh, maybe there is a serial killer who stalks and kidnaps sex workers after their working hours
but went straight for assumption that oh, this sex worker must just happened to have her child her on the job.
Like it is statistically much more likely that mother is severely irresponsible than that serial killer is also a stalker. Numbers wont show that even if we would look only at the mothers who are sex workers and that unjust part of this tragedy wont get justice either.

And if he wasn't responsible for her/their disappearance, why didn't he report her missing? Even anonymously. Why didn't he identify her by her tattoos, even anonymously? To keep his affair hidden?

She seemed like she was trying to make it on her own. He kills her anyway.

If there were any real kind of justice, a judge will take those 30 years of freedom from him and give them to Tanya and Tatiana, who he ripped them from

So it wasn’t Rex after all. I guess it was just a weird coincidence her body was found so close to the others.

Imagine Rex thinking, 'That's not mine' but he couldn't admit it and wondering who did that, and at the same time Andrew Dykes thinking, 'They think Heuermann did it, good, they can spin their wheels over there'. Now Rex must be thinking, 'oh, good, maybe this will throw the jury'.

The weird thing is what if Asian Doe is NOT done by either one of those guys and their is a third killer, although in Heuermann's killing doc he did evidently search for a porn snuff film entitled something like 'Asian twinks' which makes me suspect him but could be someone elses job at that.

And I'm still not convinced Shannon Gilbert wasn't a murder.
