The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced that U.S. Air Force Major Paul A. Avolese, 35, killed during the Vietnam War, was accounted for 21 Sep 2020.

On 7 Jul 1967, Avolese was a Radar Navigator assigned to the 2nd Bomb Squadron, 301st Bombardment Group, 4133rd Bombardment Wing (Provisional). That day, he was part of the crew of a B-52D Stratofortress bomber ("Red 01"; tail #56-0627) conducting a combat bombing mission from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, to a target in Vietnam.
